You always play aether vial turn one unless you have the noble arbiter GQ start. Vial is really essential to hatevears and is miles better than mana dorks.
I'm starting off playing Hatebears, and thinking of using your decklist above as some sort of reference to what I want to put together.
How do you feel about Kitching Fings and Aven Mindcensor as a 4 off added to this list?
Hatebears is a context deck. If you expect to face Zoo, Burn, Merfolk or even something like Jund, Kitchen Finks is a good call. Mindcensor shines against Company (it was better with Pod in place of Collected Company, but still does some work), Scapeshift and Tron. Regardless, 4 may be a little too much. The only cards I would always play 4-off in the maindeck are Path to Exile, Noble Hierarch and Loxodon Smiter. Everything else depends on the metagame.
I like slapa's decklist, but I wouldn't play more than 1 Dismember in the 75.
I believe WoTC's new policy is to make sure that every color can enjoy the exciting gameplay mechanic of making undercosted dudes and then turning them sideways. Clearly the future of magic.

PPTQ report, 5 round swiss to Top8, around 28 participants
Went to a PPTQ on a wimp Sunday and came back with an invite to the RPTQ for PT Aether Revolt. Since I saw the spoiler of Eldritch Moon I knew that I wanted to add Thalia, Heretic Cathar into this shell but 2 weeks ago I thought about Eldritch Evolution on the sideboard. I had no chance to test the deck since a few months ago, so I thought it would be fun and didn’t feel like playing fish anyway. Sorry for the upcoming bad report, that is not my forte and I am French Canadian, so not great at writing in English either.
Deck list is at the bottom of the post.
Match 1: Zoo Burn – 2/0 Win
G1 was quite easy if I remember correctly, chaining old Thalia and is Guide giving me land 2 out of 3 times.
G2 was quite closer but old Thalia, followed by the Heretic pretty much sent him into burn mode. I lowered myself to 7 allowing an atarka’s command to save his creature and burn me for 3 with a Burrenton in play. He then burned me to 3 with a boros charm with 2 red creatures in play. He attacked I pain myself to CoCo into voice and finks, killing his 2 creature and putting myself back to 6, from there I beated him to death sacrificing my burrenton to stop a kill spell on my creature to finish him off.
Match 2: KiKi Chord – 1/1 Time limits
G1 was slow but easy with Hierarch into Heretic and him never really setting up against my ghost quarter/Arbiter combo in play. He finished is game with a basic naya lands
G2 was slow again but I was on the back foot and when I regained control of the game he resto angel into chord kiki.
G3 2min left in the round...
Match 3: Nahiri Control – 2/0 Win
Don’t really remember the matchup I controlled is land and denying him red in G2. Easy match, Thalia kept him mostly 1 mana short of doing most of his thing they way he usually does.
Match 4: Merfolk – 2/1 Win
G1 Was going really well for with Heretic in play keeping is lord less board in check but with 2 cursecatcher in play. While I was tapped out he spreading seas me following lord of atlantis for the loss...
G2 He kept his board in check with the Heretic again, but this he had trouble finding his second island and when he did it came in the way of a cavern, I just mounted a big board, Ghost & Tectonic is mutavault and Pridemage made short work of his Vial before his second counter.
G3 Merfolk is still a bad matchup but Evolution an Heretic on turn 2 into 2 Smiter the following turns made short work of the game.
Match 5: Split for third place.
Top 8: Grixis Delver – 2/1 Win
Both win felt so easy and the loss came from not playing my rest in peace turn 2 and felt ok pushing it back to turn 4 to play Thalia into Heretic. Not...
Top 4: EldraTron – 2/1 Win
G1: 1)Eldrazi Temple- 2)Eldrazi Temple-Though-Knot Seer-3)Reality Smasher-4)Enbringer-Scoop
G2: No temple for him, me beating him to a pulp through his Ratchet Bomb
G3: Playing around all is dust and is Ratchet Bomb – Eldritch Evolution sacrificing a Voice is fun, especially 2 times in 2 turn for 2 Wilt-Leaf Liege
Top 2: My opponent can’t go to the RPTQ, he was playing merfolk, quite happy from his concede.
Thoughts on the deck:
-I believe Thalia, Heretic Cathar is great in all matchup hating modern in general. Pairing her with an Arbiter is just nightmarish for an opponent, especially if you ghost quarter the removal color. The first time you get a board of both Thalia and an Arbiter, the gleam of despair is
-Dork into Arbiter and Ghost Quarter on turn 2 into turn 3 Loxodon feels very powerful.
-HateBear mostly have at least one card that is great in all matchup, you really don’t know so in G1 but in G2&3 you know which card on turn 2 cripples the adversary, that is why I have the 2 Eldritch Evolution in the side. Yes you need dork T1 to have any of your hate card out by turn 2 and you spend 2 cards to get a third one on the board, but the flexibility of having the card that you need is just powerful. This give me the chance to really go with silver bullet in the sideboard and make them feels 3 of. I sometimes only sideboard the 2 evolution in removing the 2 hate card that are useless in the current matchup or in place of the CoCo if I get the Gaddock Teeg in the deck. Late in the game converting a 2 drop now useless (arbiter or thalia) into a Liege is powerful.
Thank you for reading this, sorry for my mistake and bad report in general, I’m not good at reporting and I tend to forget the match I just played to concentrate on my next one. So when I try to recall them it’s far from perfect. I believe Eldritch Moon really gave us the push we need to make us not a 50% deck anymore. And I will surely bring this to the RPTQ, I’ll need quite a better sideboard plan than what I came up with at the last minute and retool some number in the main.
One major difference between our list is coco vs oath. I play around sweeper by end of turn coco with them tapped out. So a one of non-flash protection in my build is not relevent for me and I would never rely on coco in sweeper answer to goldfish for the spirit.
Like you said I understand the value in D&T protecting a key flicker target or vial it in answer of sweeper is real good. But in vial less hatebear the value is just not there.
Side note if I get the time I would like to tset a split of 2 coco 2 Evo main. Sure you don't always have the information T2 for what to Evo and a mistake can be costly. But when the grind start or switching a dork or useless hate card for the match-up can still be worthwhile. Especially upgrading to wilt leaf when the race is on. Would give 2 more slot in the sideboard.
This is where my mind is at right now on the list I would play next week if I would still be chasing PPTQ. What do you guys think? I'm thinking of switching 2 CoCo for 2 Eldritch Evolution. This would give us better late game by fetching what you need if in race mode or the best creature to hinder them. Maybe the memory of the evoluion of 2 voice in 2 wilt-leaf back to back is just too good to forget.
The additional mana dorks are there for both gavony and thalia which so far has been extremely good to me. I have played it on turn 2 on a fee occasions and it is backbreaking. Yes she dies to bolt but they must have the bolt which they wont always have.
I've also gotten some feedback from opponents and it messes up their mana base and blocker situation quite abit.
Round 1: Merfolk 0-2
G1: Vial + 2x Harbinger of the Tides + 1x Kira make me loss much tempo
G2: hushwing Gryff comes as a silver bullet, but he topdecked a dismember and then Vial + Harbinger of the Tides + Master of Waves ruined my game. Double Horizon Canopy also drained much life.
Round 3: Abzan control 2-1
G1: arbiter + GQ + finks makes me win
G2: after a grindy game he controled the game
G3: voice + finks + liege won the game
Round 3: Affinity 2-1
G1: 2 path to exile + 1 dromoka's killed 2 Signal Pest and 1 Steel Overseer. finks + smiter does pressure to win.
G2: he has a fast start, killed me with infect (blinkmoth + ravager)
G3: turn 2 stony silence
Round 4: Jund 1-2
G1: voice + finks + smiter (free for kolaghan command)+ liege (free for kolaghan command), easy victory.
G2: I was winning but miscalculated an alpha attack then I cant return to the game. Liliana, the last hope and Thrun was annoying.
G3: I tried to destroy his mana base with 2 arbiter + 2 GQ but he has much removal and 2 goyfs hitting me hard. Liliana, the last hope was annoying again.
Is this deck adjusted to you local meta? It seems untuned to me (or very tuned for a special meta). Here are some of my thoughts / questions about the deck:
What's the reason that you don't play Noble Hierarch (or other manadorks)? One reason to play green is the access to mana acceleration.
If you don't play manadorks why don't you go mono white (death and taxes) with vial?
24 lands seems a lot:
- 3 Stirring Wildwood can slow you down too much and is only good in grindy matchups.
- Only 1 Gavony Township and no Tectonic Edge? Would add at least 1 of these.
- 4 Horzion Canopys are too much, there is so much aggro running around that it will kill you. Even with 3 Canopy's I had the experience that it caused more game loses than wins. 1-2 seems perfect to me.
- What's the reason that you play Judge's Familiar and Dryad Militant?
Your sideboard might be improved, the cards are very dedicated against specific matchups (if it's adjusted to your local meta, it's fine, but against an open meta I would add more versatile cards):
- Qasali Pridemage is more a maindeck card, pretty versatile, exalted and a body on it's own, but not good enough to fill sideboard slots with it, since there are cards, which are better against artifacts or enchantments.
- Kataki, war's wage is good against affinity, but a card like Stony Silence is better against different kind of decks (Tron, Affinity, Lantern Control, Ad Nauseam).
- Phyrexian Revoker isn't that great in modern since he can be removed so easily. I would rather play Pithing Needle (can also hit lands like Celestial Colonade).
- Melira is for the Infect matchup? I would replace her with Spellskite, since Spellskite offers more diversity (Infect, Affinity, Burn etc.)
- Sigarada is against Jund/ Junk? This matchup should be already good or against which decks do you want her?
- What I am missing here is some graveyard hate, since dredge is getting more and more popular and cards like Rest in Peace are also great against other matchups (Jund, Living End).
Just what came into my mind.
Agree with Slapa. Regarding Kataki, I would only SB it if I'm also playing Collected Company.
I would also add:
-Play the full Loxodon Smiter set. The abilities are relevant in a lot of situations, and when they aren't it's a really fast clock
-Consider Choke for your SB, it ranges between OK and GG vs blue decks. It helps against Merfolk too! (a not so good matchup)
-No Noble Hierarch? If you are having a hard time getting them, play Birds of Paradise in that slot. It does a fine impression, but the the Exalted matters
-Engineered Explosives in the SB could be a good catch-all card
-Dromoka's Command is maindeck worthy, and has aplications in a wide array of matchups
If you prefer those 1 drops in your deck, maybe a mono white build would suit your playstyle better.
I believe WoTC's new policy is to make sure that every color can enjoy the exciting gameplay mechanic of making undercosted dudes and then turning them sideways. Clearly the future of magic.

Hey guys, what is the strategy vs bant Eldrazi? My friend played vs that matchup 2 times (swiss and top4) in the last pptq he went and lost both times.
I'm prepping for GP Indy right now and it is my first GP I'm competing in the main event. I've been pretty successful playing hatebears over the last 8 months and have taken down a couple tournaments that resulted me having a two round bye for Indy. Any help with the deck is welcome!!!

Looks pretty solid to me but I would probably swap the Selfless Spirit with Kitchen Finks since it's not as strong and only shines against sweepers. I would also remove Kataki, War's Wage in favor of a third Stony Silence because, in my experience, it doesn't hit as hard.

So according to the legendary rule, you can have both Thalias in play, because they have different names, right?

I removed the brushland from my deck and added okina and eiganjo, both Thalia and Brimaz benefit from this.
