I have been playing D&T for awhile and figured I would pop in here (since i got 4 nobles at a song; and Jund/Junk decks are becoming more relevant...this deck is a little more resistant than D&T to removal) Some things i noticed in the online meta that may help. I like stony silence over many other hate cards against affinity mainly but against various tron decks as well. Also some degree of mindcensor has to be good seems scapeshift is still a big thing and that can just outright win it for you. I also seem to be facing a lot more burn...is the finks enough to slow that down without additional SB help? Not really criticizing anyone or choices since i am new just trying to get clarifications since i will be running some mix between D&T and Hate-bears in the near future.
Regarding Stony Silence and affinity, read what I answered to pumpkinsword below this. Also, it does nothing against Wurmcoil Engine in the Tron matchup. Oblivion Stone sweeps the board once, Wurmcoil holds it forever I'm playing 1 of each. Aven Mincensor is randomly good. Flash is relevant against blue decks, and Flying means you can block Affinity dudes.
Burn players can just ignore Finks if they got Skullcrack. I use some Kor Firewalkers in the board along with Explosives and 1 Celestial Purge. Scooze can also gain you a little life, and Thalia a little time. The ouphe really shines against Zoo, trading with anything but Tarmogoyf and returning to block again, gaining 4 life in the process. If Birthing Pod was holding other aggro decks, it may be the moment to sling those Kitchen Finks...
Expecting Affinity, UWR, Jund, Burn, and other creature decks in my meta.
I like your decklist. My suggestions are:
- Kor Firewalker instead of BFT, because the Kor is almost game against Burn.
- 1 Explosives instead of 1 ***
- Maybe you could drop a Voice and a land from the maindeck and try some other things in that place (Sunlance, Thrun maindeck, Resto Angel, third Finks/Mindcensor, Birds of Paradise, and others). If you don't want to cut a land, you can swap one for a third Stirring Wildwood. It's very good against Bolt decks, can block Nexus (Nexi?) and Skirges and helps in the BGx matchup (Decay/Liliana proof, among other things)
- The only thing I don't like about Stony Silence is that it can't handle an Etched Champion.
I believe WoTC's new policy is to make sure that every color can enjoy the exciting gameplay mechanic of making undercosted dudes and then turning them sideways. Clearly the future of magic.

So I've been playing Death and Taxes (sup HugeElfBoy!), and slowly building up to Hatebears (I've nicknamed you guys Hatebros as a previous/current DnTer). A little backstory is I've played magic off and on for awhile, but only very casual (kitchen top magic) I decided to finally try a format, and settled on Modern. It's been a little overwhelming to say the least. Trying to learn and get familiar with a meta that has taken months to get to where it is through varying tier decks, tier 1.5 and 2 decks and bans and ubans, and every week it seems like it's a new deck I've never faced. There's been a lot of 1-2 and 0-2 match ups. But it's always a learning experience. A lot of these I blame on a combination of inexperience and bad sideboard choices.
Anyways, after seeing some Azbab/Junk/WGb decklists I had to try it out. My decklist is based on Datorman's and seeing some good results from DOLzero. Here's what I'm currently running. Having access to Abrupt Decay and Siege Rhino was the main reasons. The biggest problem I've encountered is cards like Pryoclasm or Zealous Persecution removing my Nobles, Oozes and Thalia's before they can even do anything.
2x Mirran Crusader
3x Stony Silence
1x Mark of Asylum
2x Choke
2x Creeping Corrision
1x Thrun, the Last Troll
Again I have some spots open. My mainboard could probably use an update. How do people feel about the black splash post ban? I've debated running Tidehollow Sculler, as he seems to be able to remove possible threats. I've also debated removing the black splash and going full hexproof package with Thrun and Sigarda in the mainboard. I think the biggest challenge is finding WHEN and WHY to remove + add from mainboard and sideboard on game two. I guess that can come with more games, experience. But that aside is there any thoughts/advice on Junk Hatebears?
Siege Rhino + Wilt-Leaf Liege seems pretty good. Especially if Liliana shows up a lot more. Maybe Restoration Angel is better? I really can't say for sure as I haven't played much in the current meta. If lots of Liliana and Zoo, I like Liege. If lots of control, I like Thrun and Restoration Angel. If lots of Burn, I like Rhino. There is also Sigarda, Baneslayer and Batterskull. At this point I am waiting to see how the meta shapes up before I make that decision.
My biggest criticism is the mana base. You've only got 6 black mana sources. I would try to find some more in there, whether it's Sandsteppe Citadel, Mana Confluence, or more Overgrown Tomb/Godless Shrine.

Aven is useful against Scapeshift, but not quite feeling it in some games. I feel the spot could be used better by Wilt-Leaf Liege like you pointed out. Turning Rhino into 6/7 Trampler is pretty brutal.
My only worry is Bloodmoon. I'd have access to green mana through Noble, but I'd have no access to black.
(tried so post links, but it says I have too low of a post count)
Hi sirs, this is a list I have worked with NO Thalia and 3 Planeswalker: Garruk (extra removal and creatures), elspeth (evasion and creatures) and ajani (life and counters). Do you think in the current environment this deck is viable?
Seems okay. I don't like dismember because it pretty much always costs 4 life which does not seem good to me in any matchup. The rest of the deck seems fine but what is the reason for cutting Thalia? I run 3 Thalia with 2 planeswalkers without much issue -- it usually hurts them more than it hurts us.

I really don't worry about Blood Moon personally. It's a card that sees some play in a very few number of decks. The chances of running into it are slim.
I also think that 8 sources for a single color are not enough. Even if I were to splash, I would run at least 11 sources. Probably 12.
I thought I'd talk about playing against Bloom Titan, since it seems to be popping up a lot more. From what I have tested against, it seems like we have a very good match up.
I found that when on the draw, it is many times the right play to lead with a turn one ghost quarter. This way, if they play a bounce land, even with amulet of vigor out, you can respond to the untap trigger from the amulet and ghost quarter the bounce land. This leaves them with no mana from the bounce land, and they still have to return the land they played the first turn, setting them back by a lot, although they will still usually get a forest from the ghost quarter.
It's also important to know that they only usually play 1 basic land, a Forest. Path to Exile is needed to get rid of their Primeval Titans, while our search hate really helps for their transmute land, Primeval Titan triggers, and Summoner's Pact.
Qasali Pridemage can kill either an amulet or hive mind. You should be able to pay for their green pacts, and maybe even their blue pacts if you have multiple hierarchs. For the black pacts, if you have a path to exile, you can target one of your creatures with your copy, and then path it, thus "countering" your pact, which means you would not have to pay the upkeep cost. The downside is that with a Hive Mind already out they will get a path too, but at least you don't instantly lose.

Took some of my experience from successfully playing G Stompy Death and taxes and Hate bears and came up with this list that I went 3-0-1 in the dailies today.
Round 2: Ad Naueseum combo (2-0)- Game 1: Play agressively making him waste his angel's grace and phyrexian unlife early, still get the win before he can hard cast combo.
Game 2: He keeps a 1 land hand with Lotus bloom. I play Qasali pridemage the turn before his bloom goes off. at the end of the upkeep I blow up the lotus bloom so he can't use the mana to combo off, leonin arbiter and aven mindcensor deal damage and keep him off of his lands.
Round 3: BW Tokens (2-1) Game 1: I win the die roll and turn 1 noble Turn 2 and turn 3 smiter with resto angel back up. He couldn't keep up.
Game 2: He disenchants my Engineered Explosives gets out 3 spectral processions with a hinor of the pure and eventually zealous persecution and sorrin.
Game 3: go aggressive out the gate again used EE to blow his blockers use aven in conjunction with ghost quarter to blow his only black source and even when he played a fetch he couldnt find a black source resto angel and mindcensor beat him in the air.
Round 4 ???: Split with my Opponent He needed QP I got the extra pack.
Maybe not the most impressive outing but I figured I would Post what i went with. I have played a lot of practice matches versus things like burn and other meta decks and it is doing really well.
I started to get into modern 6 or so months ago, started with GW hatebears, bought cards to also give D&T a go (W or Wg), then
when the Khans fetches came out started to move toward Pod. Just finished my Pod deck and played it twice before the ban. So now
I'm following what everyone is doing to recover from this. My thought is to go back to Hate Bears but felt, its needs a little
help, so really interested in GWb (for thoughtseize and Abrupt Decay) (or maybe try a goyfless, bobless, liliana less
Junk??). So I'm interested in people's experiences with B mana with still keeping ghost quarter/tech edge. I guess we can abandon the land Hate (I think DOL posted a list like this). If we abandon the Land hate, I think we keep Aven Mindcensor to hate on other players fetching,
but lose Leonin, and add fetches/shock lands to help with the mana. Do folks think a Hatebears without land hate viable?
I think Hatebears without land hate is still viable, but I would still keep in Arbiter. He is a problem for a lot of decks and they have to answer him if they don't want to lose a lot of tempo just fetching. I've also had problems in the past where I was unsure if I wanted to blow up a land or wait until I could cast Baneslayer/Sigarda/Batterskull. This sort of removes that choice from me, and then I don't mind running a singleton Gavony Township. I've been testing another deck lately, but when I come back to this deck I will probably give it a go. I'm going to wait until after the PT and see what happens with the meta though.
3-1 in Dailies today only change from deck i posted yesterday is -1 mark of asylum in side +1 Spellskite.
lost to UWR control (G2 was majorly mana flooded)
beat storm (thalia and rest in peace did a lot)
tron ( Ghost quarter, anti search and thalia to a lesser extent)
8 -rack (game one he didn't get ensnaring bridge and my rancor helped me past pack rats. G2 he was stuck on 1 land I was mana flooded...I drew creaures before he drew another land.)
I have been away from this thread for some time. It looks like everyone has dropped vial. What prompted this change? I tihnk back when I used to be on this, the difference between Hatebears and DnT was the user of Flickerwisp. Has this expanded to the use of vials?
Sorry for the confusion, I am looking to put a GW Hatebears list together with the peices I have left over from Pod.
Thanks in advance!

Vial is pretty much only good vs the control decks, and we have other cards that are also good vs them. To me it was always mana dork vs Vial. Even if I played both, I would sometimes have both in my opening hand and had to make the decision for one or the other. I found that playing a dork to ramp into a 3 drop on turn 2 is better than playing vial to pump out a 2 drop on turn 3. Being aggressive can put our opponents on their heels before they get a chance to really get going. Sometimes that quick opening would close out games before they get finished, and that is usually better than playing a grindy game with Vial. We also have Loxodon Smiter and Aven Mindcensor to play around counter magic, and we can run Thrun, the Last Troll and Restoration Angel as well if we want to.
I will say that I'm really liking Qasali Pridemage moving forward. I expect Affinity, Twin, Tron and Burn to see a lot of play, and Pridemage hits relevant cards in all of those decks. I recommend running at least 2 main right now, but I will probably be leaning towards 3.
Three seems good for me never a dead draw with exalted trigger. Junk (Anzhan) decks seem popular as well which is why I like the crusader main. Baneslayer and Sigarda are good finishers for stalled boards. Have yet to have them stuck in hand w/o means to cast...still probably go with a second thrun either main our side, there have been a few games where he was my only out (amazing versus American control.)
Figured id give a quick update about the deck, ran it as junk 2 weeks ago ended up going 2-2 the matchups were alright but felt like it needed some work so im going to go with this version on friday and continue exploring junk(could swap back to gw if its just not worth it).
Mostly this is still under consideration. The pieces seem strong in a lot of match ups but the meta is too unknown to know if the cards I am playing are affective enough. I decided to try and play Kitchen Finks with all the attrition matchups and since that means more shocks are fine. Still split between Restoration Angel and Wilt-Leaf liege.

Our best cards against the deck are Leonin Arbiter, Aven Mindcensor, Qasali Pridemage, Path to Exile, Ghost Quarter, and Tectonic Edge.
I found that when on the draw, it is many times the right play to lead with a turn one ghost quarter. This way, if they play a bounce land, even with amulet of vigor out, you can respond to the untap trigger from the amulet and ghost quarter the bounce land. When siding against us, they typically add in a few red based sweepers, like Anger of the Gods or Firespout, as well as Engineered Explosives. I usually bring in some amount of Fracturing Gust, Wrath of God, Mirran Crusader (can't be blocked by any of their creatures), and Thrun, the last Troll. Burrenton Forge-Tender is good against their sweepers if you run him. I take out some amount of Wilt-Leaf Liege and Loxodon Smiters. Does this seem right?
Any other advice for this match up? Just remember, you can respond to the untap triggers produced by amulet.
