I dont believe that that card would be TOO trouble some if you return drums, opals, platings and maybe a creature or two (though i wouldnt return any creatures)
It could be okay as a 1 of but 4 mana is a fat stretch in my opinion. Thoughtcast is just straight up better and does a pretty good job as is.
I was thinking as a 1-2 of, leaning closer to 1 with perhaps a second in the board as a way to counter sweepers.
If your meta is heavy with jeskai/grixis/grindy decks, it definitely doesn't hurt to have one or two thoughtcasts. However, I sort of would prefer the card selection glint-nest crane provides and want to play around with a 1-of. Anyone been getting results with the crane?
Just bought into this deck (as in, picked up a bunch of cards), haven't made a list yet, or played any version of Affinity in a couple years at this point.
I've been thinking, one of the problems the deck seems to have, is running out of cards in hand. Some builds try to deal with that by using Thoughtcast. Would it be possible in a 0 drop heavy build to use Paradoxical Outcome? I would think that between Ornithopter, Memnite, Mox Opal, Welding Jar, and Springleaf Drum it might be possible to string together enough cards that can be picked up, that you could refill your hand nicely at the cost of one attack step.
I'm aware that Fling and Shrapnel Blast do basically the same thing; I can't explain why Fling is fun and Shrapnel Blast isn't. That's one of those mysteries we may never unravel.
I love Fling in the deck, reminds me of the synergy in Pauper by flinging an Atog for the win I've thought about running Shrapnel Blast it seems a bit too slow and dangerous.
I briefly played an extended list with some of these elements plus Tempered Steel and Ardent Recruit. It was capable of a crazy turn-two but it isn't as reliable as traditional Affinity.
It is strongest against decks with minimal removal such as eldrazi tron yes. Against storm id say its okay all of our big creatures are good against storm though I feel master is probably better than overseer as you really dont have the luxury of waiting a whole turn to start doing things with the overseer.

I got blown out by actual Silence from an Affinity list and got real salty. Then I looked around and noticed that some Affinity lists are actually playing Silence (including Bertoncini's Regionals winning list). Is this purely a concession to Storm? Same question for Hope of Ghirapur I suppose
Hey I've been following this thread for quiet a while and am trying to get into affinity.
Does anyone have a more budget affinity list I can play while saving up for the more expensive mox opals and arcbound ravager?
Maybe a more different approach, while still competitive, to affinity using more of the recent standard cards?
Firstly on the budget list I recommend the mono white budget affinity list you can find on the webs running that white enchantment of which i forgot the name that give artifacts +2/+2 or something of that nature. It actually performs very well and does not use moxes or ravager.
secondly, hope of ghirapur or hog as it is lovingly called by some is very good against really any deck. it provides you with a way to stall an appropriate amount without affecting the list too much or artifact count. A well timed hog can steal you the game singlehandedly though a knowledge of your opponents deck may be needed in order to optimize your use of it.
I run a one of in my list and it has worked wonders and I am never sad to draw into it. I recommend everyone to give it a shot.
Thirdly, As for the silence i recommend ray of revelation
I ALWAYS have 1 in the sideboard no matter what. Stony silence is just that back breaking that we should always be ready for it.

Tempered Steel lists can run Mox Opal and do CRAZY things with it - see Glint Hawk. There was a brief discussion along these lines just a few posts back. Turn-two Tempered Steel can be back-breaking.
Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. A more budget deck, but different so that it's more of a good (even if not as good) list, and not a bad affinity tier 1 list.
I'll look into that list, and then obviously try to work my way to affinity and hope for some nice reprints in masters 25.
Thanks guys!

Seems like the consensus is 3+ Master in the MB, is that what everyone else is on?

I've played three Master of Etherium in the main-deck for as long as I can remember. I may have started with four, but I don't remember for sure.

Try goldfishing this all-in approach, been having the same thoughts, mi amigo. http://playtest.tappedout.net/affinity-paradox-1/
I tried your list, not a fan. I'll mess with something though, goldfishing is probably a reasonable idea.

I have only ever ran 1 steel overseer as it always always always gets removed no matter what which is annoying as all hell to me.
But yea at least 3 masters has always been my preference
