Hey everyone, if i was to run a stock list of affinity but without arcbound ravager for the time being, what would be something that i can temporarily fill that slot up with until I have the cash for ravager? Keep in mind that I know ravager is extremely integral to the deck, and that I'm not replacing it, I'm just swapping it out temporarily. is Broodstar or Master of Etherium ok-ish for the moment?
Ensoul Artifact. No doubt about it and it's cheaper than MoE.
As long as people *think* you have Ravager you're good. They will play around it. I'm currently testing 4 Ensoul Artifact and 2 master of etherium in place of them.
They both have their upside but I'm actually preferring E.A. more right now. My preferred target for it is Darksteel Citadel(indestructable) or Vault Skirge(flying, lifelink) on turn 2.
Also, without ravager in the deck, would it be slightly less terrible to replace Inkmoth with Contested War Zone or something maybe less terrible than War Zone? My current plan is to buy everything but ravager and inkmoth, then buy inkmoth, then buy ravager. Though I bet it'd be better to pick up ravager before inkmoth, theyre double the price. For now I'll sub in some Ensoul Artifact for ravager and maybe see if i have the cash money dolla bills for Inkmoth. If not I'll convince my infect player friend to let me borrow his lol.

Anyone knows why phyrexian metamorph is underplayed? Great for grinds and against big creature decks like abzan/tron. 3 colourless n 2 life gets u a wurmcoil engine/ goyf..
I just recently picked up an affinity deck and there is a Modern Unbanned tourney running this weekend,
Is there anything from the ban list I could put in there to help me out?
I know there are artifact lands and then people would run some affinity creatures,
I'm just not sure where to start... What to switch out or just leave it the way it is

I think he is too expensive. Even if you get a Tarmogoyf or Engine sometimes i dont know what i would cut for him. He may be good as a one-off in the sb. The best thing he could do in my opinion would be to copy a cranial plating. Why dont you just try him out and get us some results? That would be nice
Sure thing! Running him as a 1 off.. Will update u guys on the outcome. Hoping it can be my 5th CP.
I've just started to play with classic Affinity deck. Could you explain me how to sideboard against control decks? Was severely defeated twice by Grixis Control deck...

what do you mean by classic affinity? Do you mean old school affinity with artifact lands and skullclamps / disciples etc? or Classic as in the all around common modern build? Also, is there any card in particular in your grixis matchup that was just hosing you? Usually affinity outraces control with its threats is why I'm asking
I would play 4 Spell Pierce in the Side. Against Decks with much removal, like Jund, Ravager, Champion and Spellskite are at their best.
Just make sure you play a Ravager first, so that you can sacrifice your small creatures in response to dotch their removal or make your ravager Boltproof.
Thank you a lot! Could you also clarify against which decks should I use Blood Moon, Grafdigger's Cage and Ghirapur Aeter Grid?
Also I'm going to include to SB two extra Thoughtseize, cause I found it very useful against all threats.

Bloodmoon: pretty much side in against Tron Decks to slow them down, and any deck with shaky mana bases (3 colors or more)
Ghirapur Aether Grid: I actually sideboard this against token decks to keep their 1/1's in check and against infect. I activate it on my turn vs infect to try to get them to use their pump spells defensively. I also use this sometimes vs burn to get rid of their pesky 1/1's that have additional effects
Grafdigger's Cage: Any deck that runs Flashback or Snapcaster mage.
kind of new to affinity and loving it.. have about 30 or so matches under my belt and struggling with some mulligan decisions.. playing stock list except 1 thoughtcast/3 galvanic, 1 MoE/3 EC and 2 spellskite... couple of examples on the play against unknown opponent:
a)2x Ornothopter... 2x signal pest... glimmervoid... citadel... mox.... i know the rule about mulling without the big guns but i usually keep this hand since we dump everything and gets better if we pick up anything.. is this usually correct with 2x signal pests?
b)2x ravager... 2x cranial plating... 1x citadel/ornothopter/drum... i find the hands with multiple platings and multiple ravager or overseer to be a bit slow.. i've been keeping this also with soso results...
i guess a follow up question would be what's the worst hand that you would keep on the play against an unknown opponent? apologies if this isn't an obvious question... just looking for examples to get an idea on what's good and what's not...
I'm running almost the same build. just 1 less Overseer for a Welding Jar/ Phyrexian metamorph. No dispatch in the SB?? that's great against bloom/grishoalbrand etc.
My base list is 51 cards. I'm playing 19 lands vs the traditional 17 because I don't have any Mox.
I play in a very aggressive meta that packs a little more artifact hate than they probably should. (stompy, burn, U/R delver/prowess). I was wondering what would be a better addition to the deck to help outpace these strategies. Should I do a blue based strategy to outpace them with card advantage (Thoughtcast) along with Ensoul Artifact and master of Etherium.

A 5/5 body with benefits isnt bad that early.

Sea Gate Ruins

T: Add <> to your mana pool. (<> represents colorless mana.)
2<>, T: Draw a card. Activate this ability only if you have no cards in hand.
Thoughts? I'll probably drop my basic altogether.
if you wanna go that route, academy ruins might be a better card. Better to go for the tap any color kinda land IMO.

Or should I go a more aggressive approach and try to burn them out with Galvanic Blast and Shrapnel Blast?
for reference. here is the cardlist I have to choose from:
4 Ensoul Artifact
2 Master of Etherium
4 Galvanic Blast
3 Whipflare
2 Ghirapur Aether Grid
3 Dismember
Final note: do you think Ghirapur Aether Grid warrants a Maindeck inclusion vs a heavy aggro meta?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
