I saw this list and was wondering if anyone had any experience running Atarka's Command or boros charm in the deck. This odd list interest me cause it looks like command and charm back up the deck and give it some answers and abilities it doesn't normally have.
The command interests me cause the deck is known for attacking wide, and its +1/+1 mode looks powerful for this, plus it bolts ontop of them. has a skullcrack mode if needed.
Charm only gets you 1 mode, but i can't see any of them never being relevant, whether being used for defense or pushing an attack over the top.
whhat do you guys think?
I would not want any double-colored mana requirement.
What happened to cause people to stop playing thoughtcast. I see a lot of decks shaving down the numbers and sometimes even cutting it completely (like turtenwalds list from worlds)

search under affinity primer or under frank karsten affinity primer. look through the past few page. we have give quite a bit of advice on some deck type on how to board and strategy to play against them. unless there are particular deck type you need advice, most primier covered the top tier sideboarding plan.
@GordonFreemanJr thoughcast are play lesser because twin is a constant problem for affinity and thoghcast don't solve our problem or win us game unlike galvanic blast. it is still good is you can find the slot for it, but currently most affinity slots are full, therefore it had to be cut. if the meta is more of non interactive combo decks and such, i can see myself play more of thoughtcast and master of etherium for fast beat down, otherwise the current 4 galvanic blast and 2 spellskite main is a better build in current meta full of grixis, jund and twin. thoughtcast with etherium version are still good, just not in this beta.
What do you guys think about Chris Andersen's use of 2 Arcbound Workers over Memnite? Despite his finish compared to the other Affinity lists, I was most impressed with how his deck performed in matches during the tournament.
The list looks interesting. With all the burn spells that he had there were times that the opponent thought they were safe, then boom 10+ damage in burn. Not sure if I personally like that style of the deck, but it is definitely something worth checking out.
I went 6-3 day one. Lost my Round 9 match to Burn who game one went T1: Goblin Guide T2: Goblin Guide, Goblin Guide, T3: Swiftspear, Atarka's Command. Game 2 he had another bonkers hand (by his admission) and by the time I could stabilize he goes end of turn Boros Charm, untap Lava Spike, Boros Charm.
Day 2 went 2-4 with a bunch of mulls and seeing 3 total sideboard cards on the day. In the end, I would have liked to finish in the money, but for my first event larger than a 30 person PPTQ I'll take it. Got to lose to Todd Anderson near the end of Day 1 and got a compliment on my play so that felt pretty good. Also got my Steel Oversers altered while at the event. Once the artist posts the picture I will share.
So a few weeks ago with the rise of merfolk i was a strong advocate of affinity being the deck to play. Now it seems to me that affinity hate in the sideboards are at there absolute highest. One game i played against jund, the guy on top of his 3 MD kolaghans also had 2 grudge, the 4th command and 1-2 shatterstorms he jammed in against me. That wasnt an isolated incident either. So my question to you guys is this also happening where you play, is there significantly more hate for us then normal? Or is it specific to my meta. My theory is its because of worlds representing a false meta game.
are there a lot of affinity player in your area? if it is so, I wouldn't be surprise. if there isn't it could be a reaction from the resent result from major tournament. if you can't handle the hate, change to another deck to lay low for awhile. otherwise, you just have to brave through it.
Hi everyone, I've been playing with this deck for a long time in mtgo (and having great results by the way) and I have also been following the forum for a while.
I see a lot of people talking that Grixis, jund, or other decks that use Kolaghan's Command MB or much hate against affinity are difficult or almost impossible to win, but from what I've played so far I disagree.
When I started playing with affinity, I did not liked Etched Champion at all, but after the first Grixis i faced i decided to put 3 Etched Champion mb and 1 more on sb. Since then i won from 6 Grixis control, 1 grixis twin and 3 jund, my only lost was to another grixis twin.
By the way i didn't see any of this opponents using budgets or doing misplays, so i think 10-1 against this decks isnt luck. Kataki, War's Wage and Stony Silence are much more problematic and we still have ways to play through them, against Kataki we have Galvanic Blast and Whipflare, but the biggest problem, in my opinion, is stony silence, and in this particular I really liked Ghirapur Aether Grid in the sb, you may find that it will be a little hard to cast it if stony silence is already on the board, but honestly, it is not, the main reason is because a deck that uses stony silence also uses Path to Exile, and they certainly will use it against you, alloing you to seek a mountain and make the party start.
The only top tiers decks i find really hard was Abzan and Twin (Grix and UR).
I've played with several modern decks: twin, twin Grixis, Grixis Delver, amulet bloom, burn, WB tokens and others, but I found none as good as affinity, even with all the hate that can bring against us.
So, unless your meta is full with twin, abzan or WB Tokens, i dont think u need to change to another deck...just put 4 etched champions in your mb, make some ajustments and find a way to play trought it.....affinity isnt a tier 1 deck without a reason, its super resilient and can win games that much times seems completly lost.
That's only my opinion,
Good luck,

LOL first time porn. my meta start to have 2-3 UW to UWR deck showing up. i find them to be very bad match-up, still comtemplating how to play around their hate in game 2. any suggestion for sideboard or tactics in fighting the hate? my thoughts are tempered steel with 2-3 hangarback walker.

The UW and UWR control decks are the worst match-ups for Affinity from my experience, those decks where made to beat us. It's worse than Grixis control imho. But Etched Champion is your best bet again here. But unlike Grixis they more often have a Wrath effect to kill it.
Can't say if Tempered Steel would be good, haven't played it. But I wouldn't put it into the side, it takes up too many slots, and you usually want more white producing lands in your main than only a Plains and your Glimmervoids.
UWR is generally worse because of the better removal. I reckon that UW is definitely winnable, though post-board is pretty rubbish. UWR is near-unbeatable with all the Bolts and Electrolyzes.
The problem I often face are turn 2 stony silence or kataki.those are very devastating early game in game 2. Game 1 we are good against them, often it is their post sideboard hate that posed a problem. Not sure if the new enchantment can help here. Playtest with my friend's affinity just now. The aether grid is very powerful in clearing their board. I am still thinking should I keep blood moon in my sb as I don't encounter bloom titan often and not sure what other match-up will it be good against.
I posted this the other day but I think it got buried. How do you beat Grixis Twin? I have two MB spellskite and 4 MB galvanic blast yet I still can't do anything against them.
CharlesChing, i think stony silence is the worst hate card for us to play around....when I play against decks that I think will bring it t2/t3, I usually take out steel overseer and spellskite, and bring on thoughtseize, Ghirapur Aether Grid and wear/tear.
I think its very important to have a plan in mind of what you want from your hand, when facing a deck where the opponent can put a stony silence on the table in the second turn... hands with cranial, Darksteel citadel, ornithopter, etc. are bad because you will not even begin to put pressure on him and plus u will get out of mana .... on the other side, hands with signal pest, glimmervois, MoE, blinkmoth nexus, are good because you can put pressure and still get mana for other spells.
Against Kataki, I bring Ghirapur, Whipflare and stay with the galvanics….i think much more easier to deal with kataki, since it don’t lock our mana base and we have ways to kill him easily.
Usually control decks bring only stony silence, since aggro/midrange decks bring kataki too…this is important for u to know what bring and cut from your deck.
Frossty – in my opinion your mb is ok to deal with grixis twin, the key to win is galvanic blast (in your case dismember too), thoughtseize, torpor orb and spellskite for their combo, and etched champion and arcbound ravager for our aggro plain.
I usually don’t bring spell pierce and wear/tear against them because just works against splinter twin and they will tap your colored mana source in your turn, so many times u will die with the response in your hand but whithout mana do cast it.
But the more important is how to play against them, if you have a spellskite or an torpor orb in your hand, do not worth playing it on the second turn .... your opponent cannot close the combo next turn and still can counter or destroy it .... feed your opponent, giving targets to counters and KCs and after that, cast your hates against him... torpor orb after your oponnent casts KC is devastating, because he cant play it again with snapcaster and will need Basically to wait another KC do deal with it.
Any tips for the RG tron matchup? Tested affinity against it earlier today and couldn't get a single win from 3 matches. 4 mainboard Pyroclasm is just too much for me, and I think the guy had 3 or 4 Nature's Claim in the SB. I have copies of T-Sieze and Blood Moon in the side, but they didn't feel like close to enough.
I've noticed a lot of people are playing Ghirapur Æther Grid in the side. How is that card been playing for you guys? What do you side it in against? I'm guessing Infect and the Mirror but is there anything else?
I would not want any double-colored mana requirement.
