I have dispatchs to deal with griselbrand, but grafdiggers cage seems like an infinitly better card in that slot so ill switch them up. Whipflare is just backbreaking against tokens, elves, COCO decks in general. It seems good against infect as well as fish. Thats like 80% of my metagame. Is it still not worth running?
Okay sweet ill give your changes a try although im unsure how consistent all the 1 ofs are going to make my side boarding. I wanted to avoid posting a deck list because most affinity deck lists are basically very similar, but ive been struggling with getting results on this deck so if you guys see anything that looks bad or out of place let me know. Game 1's tend to be easy wins but i can never seem to navigate past the hate after boarding. Urborg is a new addition, basically to force damage through with cranial plating.

I just learned about this now: if Spellskite is targeted by Kolaghan's Command with mode destroy target artifact, and the other mode targets a creature for 2 damage, you can change the target of the shock mode to Spellskite, unlike Electrolyze.
Somebody, update the primer poste-haste! This is very useful to know!
I have read a judge articles a few days back with regard to this. It is definitely useful to know. However against a twin player, if you have spellskite on the board, they will choose destroy target artfact and target player discard a card to prevent the redirection. Therefore if you are holding a blast in hand, keep another card on hand as well in case they try to discard you.

You're right. A smart grixis Twin player would choose modes destroy artifact and discard, however. I feel there aren't that many Affinity, Grixis, and Jund players that know this interaction. Since both of us play Spellskite mainboard, this knowledge is invaluable to us.
Case in point, I was playing in an IQ today, and my Grixis Twin opponent asked a judge about it in private. My opponent later told when our match was done. The judge was called about the ruling at least twice in the tournament, and I also told a fellow Affinity player about too, and he didn't know it either.
This is the kind of pitfall in which a newer Affinity player can easily fall victim, and Kolaghan's Command is everywhere in the current meta. Therefore, the primer should be updated as such.
The main reason people get confused is because they think it is like electrolyze. However it is different as kolaghan's command do the targeting separately for each mode, therefore spellskite is able to redirect it. Went to top 8 in a PPTQ today of 72 player. Following the decklist of GP Charlotte top 3 player. only changes i made are
-1 steel overseer
+1 welding jar
sideboard changes
-1 ancient grudge
+1 wear//tear
-2 torpor orb
+1 Illness in the rank
+1 Grafdigger's cage
remainder are the same. main thing is to combat grixis delver, twin, abzan lingering souls, coco company, bloom titan. Bloom titan won the PPTQ against another affinity player which i lose to. i was contemplating of taking out blood moon, after seeing the play, blood moon had to remain even if sometimes i just don't like it. the hate is very strong against jund, abzan, bloom titan and tron.
As much as i like ensoul artifact and finding steel overseer slow, i have to said that ensoul is not suitable for current meta as opposed to steel overseer. this is my reasoning. ensoul open you up to a potential 3 for 1 from a kolaghan's command which i would not want to be at. the only time ensoul is good is when enchanted on darksteel citadel, yet is easily blocked by most creatures. steel overseer is better is it boost the whole team, as well as manland and opponent only have 1 turn window before you get value out of it. i have to admit, i side it out most of the time against certain match-up, but in a removal light deck, it really shine. one particular match-up would be abzan company. the ability to pump the flyers are invaluable, especially on out manland. ensoul can't really do much here as they have lots of blocker. therefore, i will said that steel overseer opens a lot more options as compared to ensoul. it also improve ravager by a lot. there are quite a few games that i depends on steel overseer to win me the game. especially mirror. in the recent GPT and PPTQ, there are at least 3 affinity that went to top 8. also, when people are light on stony silence due to grixis being a favourite and kolaghan's command rampant, affinity is in a good position. kolaghan's command don't kill us, it just make our game more difficullt, but i will said that with ravager around and not being anxious or greedy, affinity can still out value kolaghan's command. spellskite and blood moon are stong cards which i think in the current meta, we need to pack 2-3. in my meta, i see many grixis, be it twin or delver variant, as well as abzan company and coco variants. jund and abzan are still around but lesser or perhaps i did not get paired with them. bloom titan are run by a few in my meta, but the result are not so much perhaps being controled by mainboard blood moon from grixis deck.
@lamghost, i am not sure about your meta, but these are what i see so far in my meta. ensoul will have to take back seat for now. have you encountered being 1 for 3 with ensoul? i think this is the main reason i am not running ensoul even if i like it a lot.
I am seeing a lot of stubborn denial in the SB. Why is this good?
It scales better than Spell Pierce in the long game, we have can easily turn on Ferocious with Cranial Plating, Master of Etherium, and Arcbound Ravager. It's also good against big mana decks like Amulet Bloom, Scapeshift, and Tron, but mostly Tron.
Hey y'all. I won a local 103 person PreTQ tonight with my Tempered Steel build! I'm pretty tired now but I'll stop back in tomorrow with the list and a quick tourney report if there is any interest.
Hey Affinity Masters! Just wanted to hear your take on my affinity deck. I am taking this to GP Singapore which I am guessing will be full of decks like Jund, Junk, Splinter Twin, Grixis Delver/Twin and maybe some Tron, Amulet Bloom, CoCo decks. Thanks!
I have also won a PPTQ with good ole Affinity but I won't be able to do my match coverage until later tonight. I'll go ahead and give you guys the list though! Also to give an idea of the meta, Bob Huang is in my area, and a lot of our modern community members were on that deck.
@dencios I would like some number of Galvanic Blasts in the 75 for the twin match up, as well as, 1-2 wear//tear. 3 Whipflare seems too much. What do you believe the meta to be like?
Hi Dencio, i will be at GP singapore as well as i am a singaporean. you are right in naming those archetype. they are quite pervalent in singapore meta. this is currently my list and my sideboard.

i still need help fighting infect, especially what sideboard cards are strong against them?
The card that will really wreck Infect is Chalice of the Void, set it to 1 and you are good to go vs them. Most will run in their sideboard Nature's Claim which you shut down.
Against company deck, I board in graffdigger's cage, torpor orb and 2 whipflare against them. It is enough to hose their engine. I am running 2 spellskite mainboard and I have think what can I remove to add in the spell pierce. My deck list is on the previous page. And most likely I wouldn't change the mainboard anymore for gp Singapore. The sideboard is also more or less fixed. I need to find slot to add in that pierce..please advise.

You can definitely cut Illness in the Ranks for Pierce. 3 Spellskites, 4 Galvanic Blasts, 3 Thoughtseizes, and Torpor Orb are more than you need for Twin. Whipflare does a better job against Delver than Illness.
Edit: I also advise against bringing in Wear//Tear for Twin. You're already playing 4 Galvanic Blast main, and it has far more utility than Wear//Tear.
@Michael David black, ya, I relook into my sideboard and took out illness in the rank and 1 thoughtseize and add in 2 spell pierce. As for not bringing wear//tear against twin, I don't agree, because twin will also bought in spellskite to redirect our removal and modular, therefore, I will still board it in.
-3 steel overseer
-1 signal pest
+1 etched champion
+1 spellskite
+1 torpor orb
I recently ran into gw hexproof and mono white enchantments at a local tourney. I was able to eek out the win against monoW because he never saw his stony silence but the gw guy had it game 2 and 3 and I just rolled over. What do you do in this situation? Wear/tear and thoughtseize maybe but I can never get the stars to align and have colored mana early enough to matter.
