Land - Taps for 1, 2T: gain 1 life for each colourless creature you control.

Probably to clunky for us but could it be used to keep Burn in check?

Our landbase is perfect the way it is.

Darksteel Citadel is an artifact land that synergizes extremely well with the deck.
Blinkmoth Nexus and Inkmoth Nexus are our answers to boardwipes and decks like BGx who rely on "Destroy target nonland permanent" and "Discard a nonland card" to beat us.
Glimmervoid is our INVALUABLE any-color mana source that doesn't require any life payment to be effective.
Island/Mountain is for Path to Exile. If Path to Exile wasn't a thing, this would be a fourth Glimmervoid.

While this land may appear to synergize well with a colorless creatures deck, Modern Affinity is not one of them because it does not help us achieve our goals (we are an aggro deck, life is a resource and we do not plan to play grindy matches) and it faces serious competition with the other lands in our arsenal. Our plan is to kill our opponent as soon as possible, not to stay alive as long as possible.

There is little to no purpose in running this card. It is very difficult to cast and its activation cost makes our deck useless (if we sacrifice 5 artifacts, we don't have many threats left for us to use the extra turn well). Leave artifact saccing to Arcbound Ravager and Shrapnel Blast.

This 100%. Also if anyone has any game play questions... I'd be happy to answer/discuss! I'm no Dyne but I've been piloting the deck now on MTGO for about 3 weeks, and having amazing results with it.

Played in a SCG Modern IQ today. Unfortunately, went 2-2 before dropping. Won against Merfolk and Scapeshift, then lost to another Scapeshift and DredgeVine.

What does your SB look like?

I went 5-3 to essentially even out at 26th. I beat Junk, BW Midrage, UWR delver, RB 8rack, Adnausem; lost to UWR Geist, Burn and Infect (lost the die roll each time). I had to mull against burn and twice against infect. I ran a little hot at points but not unusually or unreasonably so IMO. Infect was running the a Viridian corrupter which hurt as well.

I don't like the board I played at all. I thought I would love the Wear/Tear, spell pierce and Tormods crypt. I really don't think they're worth playing it. In at least 2 of my SB games I killed my opponent while holding Wear/Tear with stony silence in play. It feels like a security blanket but it's really just awful. Spell Pierce always felt dead when I drew it. I just don't see a reason to include it. The times that you "get them" with it it feels amazing, I just don't see it playing out well enough to want to board it in anymore.

I think I want a whip flare, blood moon and something in those slots.

I'd like to find a good option for burn and infect. They're both pretty popular currently and they both can be very tough matchups.

agreed on Spellskite, Should be in your SB. Works amazing against Infect and many other match-ups

Run Nature's Claim in Wear/Tear slot, it has the same effects but can come in against Burn and the life gain against it is game breaking. Can also come in against the Mirror. Only costs 1 mana either way. Much better option for us.

Agreed on Whipflare, it works Decently in the Infect match-up. Also comes in vs other things, such as Boggles, Tokens, DelverMancer, Pod, potentially many other things...

For the reasons you stated about Spell Pierce, I agree, and do not play it. I do not think it should be ran in this deck...

I think that if your local meta has a lot of UWR decks, then inserting 1 blood moon really doesn't hurt. I won a game last night against a UWR Kiki-Resto Combo deck when I resolved a 2nd turn Blood Moon on the play. I would definitely board it against those UWR players.

Not a fan of illness in the ranks, way too narrow, 1 copy way too random, not good enough, torpor orb I play

I also prefer Ethersworn Canonist to Rule of Law for reasons said plus having a body attached is always a good thing for our deck I feel. Plus I feel it to be much more optimal in the Infect match-up...

are there any other alternative win con affinity might use against a pod match up that has gone to infinite life besides depending on inkmoth nexus for poison counters?

Inkmoth and poison counters are essentially 100% more alternative options than a lot of other decks in Modern have. That's definitely the best one and I can't think of another that's playable in this deck and not god awful.

against storm i just side in enchantment disruption and thoughtseize, and then i plan to go faster than them. ensoul artifact helps a lot in this MU since it speed things up. if you play a relic of progenitus it could be a good card in this mu too.

they definitely aren't suboptimal, you just prefer to not have slots devoted to them. I will tell you, though, that your strategy of hoping to outracing them (Especially after game 1), is a losing strategy. Also, who is "them"? You say your plan is to outrace "them". I assume you are referring to Storm but IDK if anything else.

Ethersworn Canonist (or Rule of Law) is not for Twin. They are for Storm and Infect, and other random non-interactive Combo decks, as they are combo decks with strategies that involving playing many spells on the same turn to win with little to no interaction with the opponent, Pod and Twin do not fall into this category.

My comment was that I prefer Ethersworn Canonist to Rule of law specifically for Infect match-up. We were talking about the Infect match-up not long ago. Again, I don't know what you are reading.

It is simply the preference of having the ability attached to a Body, which helps us Offensively as we are an Aggro deck. They play ways to deal with both Rule of Law and Ethersworn Canonist in the Board, so it doesn't really matter, they can deal with both. Meaning, I prefer to have it on a body. Which answers why people were playing Phyrexian Revoker in their Affinity SB, And over Pithing Needle.

Also, Ethersworn Canonist doesn't even affect us…. Rule of Law can potentially LOSE the game to OURSELVES.

I know affinity isn't known for combos but i found this splinter twin combo list interesting to play.

uses splinter twin and battered golem for unlimited golems.
or
on master of etherium for making double and even triple pump tricks. (with splinter twin on master you make a copy of master at end of your opponents turn so the copied token last through your following turn, on your turn you tap the untapped master of etherium for a 2nd copy. this gives you 2 5/5 masters of etherium on that turn that can attack, they probably will be bigger than that considering you'll have other artifacts on the field, let alone you've now made a turn where other artifact creatures are getting +3/+3 until end of turn)

its plays like regular affinity in most cases but runs mainboard spellskite and welding jar to protect your heavy hitters in cranial plate and master as well as battered golem.

i don't see the current list winning anyone over, but i think its got potential to be improved uppon.

There is word going around the net of a new Jeskai Ascendancy storm deck that can consistently combo off on turn 3, and sometimes turn 2. Since the deck breaks the 'turn 4 rule' it can be a problem for the format, and I think we should discuss it just incase it becomes a thing. A few things I have gathered on it are 1) Jeskai Ascendancy is the lynchpin of the deck, which brings me to 2) the deck is more vulnerable to discard than Storm, and 3) killing their mana dorks sets them back.
