Anyone else notice how amazing the new equipment is:
Ghostfire Blade (1)
Equiped creature gets +2/+2
Equip (3)
Ghostfire Blate's equip ability costs (2) less to activate if it targets a colorless creature.
This is huge. Our manlands get to 3/3 for essentially 3 mana per turn which helps in the long game. It helps make those Ornithopters and Memnites relevant. It helps with metalcraft and makes Etched Champion a much stronger beater. Spellskite can now go on offense. I don't think it's a 4 of, but I could potentially see 2-3 being consistently played.
I'll admit, this will help me fill in those 2 spots in my deck which are being filled up with a 4th Etched Champion and 4th Etherium. I refuse to use Steel Overseer. It's just a card that does not put out enough damage. Yes it's a threat, but by the time it's a threat to your opponent, you should already have won.

Affinity does not want this card. +2/+2 for a 1 mana cast and 1 mana equip seems too... fair for this deck when compared to Cranial Plating, Master of Etherium, Etched Champion, Arcbound Ravager, and even Ensoul Artifact. Also, Memnite, Signal Pest, Vault Skirge, and manlands are still in Lightning Bolt range. If the +2 power really mattered, we would've been playing Bonesplitter ages ago.

I think your missing why the equipment is good. It's not a Bonesplitter. It gives +2 toughness. How many times does your Thopter get bolted out of the sky with a cranial plating equipped? It also acts as a late game piece. I would not recommend more than 2 of the card sure, but it should not be undervalued. 2 toughness is a huge bonus to us.

I think we potentially should've been playing bonsplitter already. How often have you had a good hand that isn't worth throwing back but you're not sure you want to keep. Something like Ornithopter, Ornithopter, Land, Signal Pest, Signal Pest, Spring Leaf Drum, Memnite. That's an amazing hand; however, if they have removal spells for you 2 signal pests, it's exceptionally lackluster and you can easily end up durdling for a few turns. Even the ability to make Ravager a 4/4 while only sacrificing 1 artifact is nice. How many times do you end up with Inmoth + Blinkmoth + land in a topdeck war where quite often you just end up trying to squeak the last few points of damage (or poison) in. The +2 power is nice. It's fine. The important fact is that it also gives the +2 butt.

So, it makes Ornithopter better. Is that it? Yes, my Ornithopter does get bolted and so does everything else with 1 or 2 toughness that carries Plating, and how is Ghostfire Blade going to change that for those 1 toughness critters? As for the late game, how is it as good of a top deck as Plating, Ravager, MoE, Champion, and Ensoul?

You have forgotten Golgari Charm? That thing kills most your presence. You'll see. It'll make a splash, not a wave, but a splash.

I'm confused. It's 1/1. How is it going to save my creature from Persecution or Charm? The turn they can play it is usually the turn it's summoning sick. I have found Master of Etherium has been doing a better job for me compared to the Overseer as why I don't run it. Guess everyone has a different tweak to their playstyle.

I would honestly try and make Tezzeret, AoB work before considering that new equipment, even in a traditional affinity list. I know he generally sees no play outside of the UB control deck, but I've been tempted to try tossing around 1-2 as a SB option in matchups that inevitably interfere with any type of early/bursty start, and turn grindy.
What? I mean, seriously?
I think that card is awful in this deck. Anyway, Im interested: what card would u cut for playing that equipment? Because I think every single card we play in affinity is much better.
Off the top of my head, I'm not sure. After thinking about it more, I think it's a 1-of. I'm pretty sure I'd prefer it over the 3rd memnite. I've been very back and forth on memnite because of how much BGx is in my area.
Not a fan of the card. It only works if you have a Ravager or a non-summoning-sick Steel Overseer in play. It's complete deadweight if you don't get either of those cards and if you do, you should already have a good chance at winning the game. It's pretty much a win-more card.

I agree. Hardened Scales doesn't work with enough cards in the deck to be relevant. Even if Arcboundworker would be added, that's still not enough imho. And you would also have to cut other cards for Hardened Scales and Worker, and I would not know what I would cut...

No way @ Ghostfire Blade
Simply not good enough compared to other cards as said. Zero chance it will be a staple or be worthy of a spot in this deck competitively
You know what can save you from getting blown out by Golgari Charm and Zealous Persecution that you refuse to run? Steel Overseer
I lol'd.
Ghostfire Blade is garbage for this deck IMO.
Thanks to Heroes of the Plane Studios for the amazing sig.
