Most of guys already have evasion in flying so whispersilk cloak is kind of pointless and very mana intensive and affinity uses all its mana already with casting spells and activating manlands,
Has anyone tried something like Rancor or Whispersilk Cloak to push damage through? The cloak would be easiest to drop in as a one of, though you would have to play some number of Steelshaper's Gift to fetch it.
I played against a very competent Storm player this last weekend. I had a lot of SB hate against him, but sometimes the draws just don't quite work out.
For those of you who have faced Storm what SB cards did you find most useful?
is this deck at all playable without mox opal? im not asking if its competitive, im asking if it can even be played?
i play an infect deck at a local game store currently, and a lot regulars are complaining that im running a "cheat deck" and are getting pissed off at me.
im thinking affinity without the mox opals in it will slow the deck down enough so the regualrs at my LGS have some time to calm down and not want to kick my ass for winning turn 2 like i have been for the last several weeks.
and if i ever want to make this deck competitive for some reason i kow what to spend my $300 on
That Eidolon also prevents the Affinity player from casting multiple spells. Wouldn't you take the trade off of one less mana for the ability to cast your own stuff in multiples?
Dies to bolt, but that means the bolt doesn't hit your own life total, right?

Against Storm Eidolon of Rethoric is like you have almost won the game. If they don't have an active Pyromancer Ascension they have no way to remove it, besides maybe Echoing Truth from the board. And with Affinity you are in topdeck mode really often and don't have that many spells to cast all in one turn.
I use revokers against things I would like to pithing needle. I don't bring in pithing needle, because I will already have replaced all the non creature things that I want in each match-up (Thoughtcast and tezzeret usually the first things to go.) At some point bringing in more disruption waters down your game plan, unless that disruption can grab a plating and beat your opponent with or burn your opponent to the face. There's no match-up that i want less than 24 creatures. So revokers and canonists are a solution sometimes, as long as they are relevent in the match-up you bring them in against. Admittedly, Revoker isn't always the greatest and I should start taking a page from the hatebears deck and finding something to use from there.
I'm pretty convinced now that I want 4 thoughtseize and 2 duress. In Post board match-ups, they are just too strong. Not sure if duress or inquisition is better for the things I want to hit (for example duress does not deal with kataki)
In all honesty, my biggest concern is boarding in anti-hate for game 2 and 3, instead of worrying about there game plan too much. However, if the cards you choose can deal with both their hate and their gameplan, all the better.
2-1 Round 1 vs scapeshift Game 1 i out raced him with plating and ravager. He couldn't cryptic to stall because I had the ravager with nexu's so i could kill him by going all in on him if he tapped out for cryptic. Game two i got hurkleys recalled 2 and lost. Game 3 a active overseer won it by just clocking him quickly.
2-1 round 2 vs burn I was on the play and just out raced him. Game two he got down a eidolon down on turn two and i took too much damage. Game 3 etched champion with multiple ravagers won it for me.
2-0 round 3 vs storm I mulled to 5 and missed my second land drop but he did also after cantriping. Than i drew a darksteel citadel and my mox opal was turned on and laid down ornithopters and a master. Than after hitting him for a turn he mini stormed to wipe my board, but then it played a etched champion and killed him in a couple turns. Game 2 I had two thoughtseize and played a ravager and overseer. His only disruption was echoing truth so I killed him with ten infect by going all in on a inkmoth.
1-2 round 4 vs burn Game 1 I wa able to out race him game two I almost got there with 2 etched champion but he had just enough to kill me. Game 3 he had two many searing effects and I couldn't get anything to stick.
2-0 round 5 vs melira pod He mulled to 5 game one so I just ran him over with overseer and friends. Game 2 I stuck down a ravager and a grafdiger's cage after that I got down etched champion and than sealed the deal with a big whipflare.
2-0 round 6 vs burn There is not much too say here I just ran him over because both games he missed his second land drop for a while.
2-0 round 7 vs UWr midrange Game 1 I mulled to f but stook a early cranial plating and ornithopters. My opponent tapped out for a geist on turn 3 and I got a lot of damage in when he was tapped out. Than turn 4 I killed him by instant speed equipping the plating too kill him. Game 2 he didn't have a stony silence and I was able too stick two etched champions and a ravager Than I galvanic blasted him for the last 4 damage.
2-0 round 8 vs bogle Game 1 it was a race but he had no lifelink enchantment so I barely beat him. Game 2 I stuck a turn 1 spellskite and than turn 2 play a plating and equip it to a ornithopter and attacked. Than I just attacked a few more tuns and played some guys and won the game.
I ended up as the second seed at 7-1 and I was against melira pod in the top 8 . Game 1 he got a quick infinite life between archangel and spike feeder and I couldnt top deck a ravager or plating to kill him with poison. Game 2 I was able to get down a grafdigger's cage and a torpor orb. That plus steel overseer won it for me. Game 3 was really close and I once again had a active overseer with a ornithopter 2 ravagers and signal pest. I also had a torpor orb and grafdigger's cage out but he had a bunch of spirit tokens from lingering souls before I got out the grafdigger's cage so I couldn't kill him. Than he top decked kataki and I only had 2 non artifact mana sources so lost most of my field and Only had a giant ravager with a ornithopter but he was able to kill me through swarming. Made top 8 and got a box of rtr and a awesome playmat so all in all pretty awesome day
I am going to try something similar to this as soon as I can get the cards I don't have yet. The main difference I will try is that I'm not sold on Tezzeret. I think I'll instead run the 2 Galvanic Blast main, and then in the sideboard add a 2nd Torpor Orb and a Grafdigger's Cage.

I really don't think 4 Thoughtseize is a good idea man. Your never going to want to bring in all 6 discard spells vs any deck and its too many SB slots and it will water your deck down horribly.
I think 3 Thoughtseize max, maybe only even 2. You never really see anyone run more than 3. I found with 4 that if I didn't get one in my opening hand, they came up at really awkward times and I wished they were something else, pretty much being a dead draw much of the time and costing me the game. So I want 1 in my opening hand or first 2 draws, but not so much after that. If I ran 4 copies, that would be 3 remaining copies in the deck that I do not really want to draw. Thats why I think maybe 3 max. Or just 2.
The thing is your going to be brining in other cards as well. 4 copies of Thoughtseize and 2 Duress or Inquisition of Kozilek just seems like way too much, imo.
I'm with the idea that you should only need two Thoughtsieze and two Duress SB. Most of the time I did draw it I used it and found my oponent to be holding something back, buit sometimes it was just a dud. I'm thinking of running Cannonist's now, they would have been much more helpful. I'll try and MD them but should it be only three or maybe two?

It's not the fall that hurts, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.
the red mage lives by the variance and dies by the variance. May the variance be with you, always.
Just been playing this deck for a few weeks and I have a few questions:
1. When you use blinkmoth's ability to pump another blinkmoth, do you have to tap a different land for mana then use that mana and then tap blinkmoth to use its ability to pump the other blinkmoth? Or just tapping the blinkmoth pumps the other blinkmoth?

You must tap the Blinkmoth Nexus and use a seperate mana in order to activate the boost ability on a target Blinkmoth. You need one additionnal mana to activate Blinkmoth Nexus's booster ability.
Thank you for clearing things up bamzing and ezurisajerk.
There is definitely a lot more to this deck than just straight up aggro. Although the hate cards for affinity are strong, there are a lot of ways you can get around them. I'm really having a blast with this deck and the vast options it could present.

Plus decks like Burn empty their hands extremely fast. Leaving them sitting in your hand useless at that point as well.
I've played against Storm a decent amount since one of my buddies plays it and he's pretty good. I agree with iamghost, against storm I personally side in Relic, Nature's claim, Spellskite, Graffdigger's Cage and Thoughtseize. Usually is enough to set them back a few turns which is all we really need.

Apostle's Blessing
If you reference back to the page before this you will find that someone had decent success with it…
Little more versatile, serving most of the same purposes and more cost efficient to the deck as well.
Also strong in the mirror.
For those of you who have faced Storm what SB cards did you find most useful?
Thanks in advance.

Basically you want to either keep them from using their graveyard or keep them from casting more than one spell a turn.
Nobody has mentioned Eidolon of Rhetoric. It survives Lightning Bolt coming out of the board whereas Ethersworn Canonist does not.

What is the difference between the Eidolon and a Rule of Law? Same effect, is it easier to make an enchantment stick vs. a creature?

Inquisition of Kozilek is a good idea in place of Duress for reasons you stated. But, there will be times where you wished it could grab a Creeping Corrosion or Shatterstorm. Likewise with Duress though, there will be times you wish you could grab a Kataki, War's Wage.

Blinkmoth Nexus and Inkmoth Nexus become Islands and therefor cannot become creatures.
