idk, dredge is a big weakness for this deck. i'm not so worried about RDW for GW. kitchen finks. but yah i'll think about WB
Yeah. But the only way to use void is in your opening hand. After that its a dead card. So do you really want 3 dead cards in your Library or is just 1?
Yeah. But the only way to use void is in your opening hand. After that its a dead card. So do you really want 3 dead cards in your Library or is just 1?
it's not dead. i don't mind pressing the stop button on dredge turn 4. with GGT banned, dredge is a lot slower.
but dredge has always been a weakness to the legacy version. it's weaker now, but so is D+T. then again, we do run more jotun grunts. and stonecloakers. i'll test more i guess
Yeah, it's Stoneforge. With her, I have a way to capitalize and be much more aggressive. I'm sure the deck is AMAZING with her. It's a match made in Heaven.
But I'll never be able to afford her and her equipment, and I don't like how unfair she is, so I don't think I'll be playing this deck.
Plus, I'd be a hypocrite to use her, due to what I've said about her and on the subject of her.
Her price isn't really the problem. It's her + $100 worth of equipment.
yah i agree the price is insane. and don't worry about being a hypocrite about SFM, it's just fine to change opinions.
anyways, what was the actual problem? did the LD plan not work right? with more tectonic edges, mindcensors, kotr, crucible, etc. it could be focused on LD and be really powerful. or you could just run SFM with batterskull and the new swords. while the old swords (sofi, sols) are better in some cases, sowp and sobm are not that bad. sowp for obvious reasons, sobm for a 2/2 and a chance to wreck a combo deck (don't play it against dredge of course). soff isn't that good though, as neither ability is very relevant to the deck. protection from colors is the main thing though, the other stuff is just a bonus.
but if you have the budget for $100 its an excellent investment. they are good in legacy, and modern.
i'm willing to sit and chat about improving the deck you already made though. just tell us the key problems. or we could work on a whole new one to suit you, just tell us what key cards you have and what your budget is, and i'll crack out a list for you to test that i think would be good.
just as a side-note: you could also make your own version with your beloved fauna shaman. it just might work. playing the LD stuff i was talking about above with FS and vengevine might work.
anyways, just lmk what you want to do and i'll try to help as best i can.
Like, the opponent is building their boardstate, and I have nothing that can really punch through and put them on the defensive enough to make the deck's tricks really matter. That's why I feel Stoneforge actually does fit this deck extremely well. This is a deck when she truly does belong. The various bounce tricks benefit her, Aether Vial benefits her, everything this deck does benefits what she is trying to accomplish.
I feel that all my deck needs is Stoneforge as it's way of applying pressure alongside the land destruction and tricks. It seems like that all comes to together quite nicely in a package that is not unlike Caw-Blade. Except instead of countering and bouncing, we're picking at their lands and exiling their creatures, to slowly, methodically break down the opponent until they can't do anything. Very Caw-like, imo. What's more, Stonecloaker and Flickerwisp are fantastic sword-carriers.
I might just have to change my opinion. Actually, I think I have. D&T and Stoneforge Mystic are great for eachother, and I'll just have to make my peace with the Kor smith.
Because if I'm not playing the most absolutely optimal version of the deck, I shouldn't be playing it at all. If you want to win, you cannot cut corners.
I want to make my peace with her, regardless, anyway. She's one of the things I've decided to level with after a rough night of extremely irrational irritability not too long ago. It wasn't because of her, but I feel like getting frustrated with trivial things is a part of the grand picture.

well if you feel you want to give up on the deck, that's fine, but you can still do stuff with it.
its really just run LD or run SFM. arbiter hurts SFM so much, it's one or the other. i think you can make it work though. if you feel you need more pressure, 4 copies of kotr should do it. and soon after you should bring them down to like 0-2 lands, then win. fauna shaman would work tutoring him up, and you could even play vengevine for even more pressure. you can make the optimal deck, without SFM.
but then, of course, it might not be worth it to run the core of D+T anymore, and therefore it wouldn't be D+T (stonecloaker/wisp don't do much anymore, just help mangara a little) you might wanna look into the "hatebears" thread, you could make GW version with that.
or you could keep it D+T, as mangara does kind of help with the LD. but i guess it's up to you.
lmk what you think. i think GW LD w/out SFM would work just fine. then again, i haven't tested. but if pressure is the problem, kotr and vengevine sound like they could fix it.
I dunno. I never seem to have both Arbiter and Ghost Quarter right when I need them, and I never get out to enough of a lead for it to matter anyway.
Maybe you're right. Maybe the meta is just too quick for it. I dunno.
Or maybe it needs blue. Or black. Or I dunno. GW possibly just isn't fast enough to not need more dedicated disruption.
Who knows.
I guess I'll go back to my Jumanji deck.
gsz + dryad arbor could also speed it up, getting kotr turn 2. vial also works with arbor. but if you want to give up, that's fine. not having SFM does hurt a little.
good suggestion, i'm surprised i over looked that. i'll ponder what to take out of the sideboard.
EDIT: took out 2 timely reinforcements for 2 firewalker.
thanks again!
For the GW I am not sure.

IIRC Dredge wins before t4.
Plus as you said we have cloakers and grunts to help out.

what seems to be the problem?
after thinking about it, i'm not so sure the crucible plan was the best idea, but lmk what the problem is and we can try to fix it.
keep in mind your choice to not play SFM creates a big drawback.

ok. personally i think mono-white is the most powerful list, but idk.
anyways people, i added A LOT to section II of the primer, explaining all of the tricks you can do with flickerwisp and mangara of corrondor.
