I would love a tournament report if possible, even just a list is awesome.
Red should be burn, Goblins, Dragons, draw/discard, and Standard-unplayable 5CMC cards with insane, lengthy effects that take 10 minutes to figure out what they do and another 20 to actually make their effects work on the field.

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that it is easier to cast command with quarter.
That is one of the reasons. You can't cast a turn 4 Command with, say, a Mutavault, an Edge and two Islands. Replace the Edge with a Quarter, though, and you can. Quarter isn't just an LD land to me, but also a kind of makeshift fetchie. Like that, it's also very useful when facing Blood Moon, as you can destroy one of your own lands to fetch a basic land in response to your opponent resolving the Moon. This is why I could see myself cutting a Watery Grave or River of Tears for a singleton Swamp.
Quarter also stops Tron from playing a turn 3 Karn/Wurmcoil, whereas Edge doesn't.
Of course, Tectonic Edge has some upsides as well. At least one: It can prevent your opponent from getting enough lands to cast a certain spell. However, I found this irrelevant most of the time.

How bad of a position are you going to be in if you ghost quarter your own mutavault on turn 4. So turn 5 youre back to 4 lands IF you make that land drop. I understand desperate times call for desperate measures but you wont likely be winning the game you did that in I would guess.
In that case I'd destroy an Island after giving myself blue mana, so you'd be losing just the Ghost Quarter to cast a Cryptic Command to not lose the game. If you're planning on doing that kind of play often, I'd definitely play with a Swamp (or two).
Tectonic Edge is better than Ghost Quarter against Twin game 1 and Scapeshift, while Ghost Quarter is better against Affinity, Green Tron, Merfolks and Hatebears (thank you, Leonin Arbiter). Against UWR Control there will be games in which you'll be presented with the chance to mana screw your opponent with Tectonic Edge, but that won't happen as often as just having to keep in check some Celestial Colonnades, so Ghost Quarter is slightly better. You can be presented with similar situations in the Jund match-up, and there you don't need to count your mana to see if you may cast some spell with double counter back-up, so Tectonic Edge would be slightly better. The only Pod land you want to destroy is Gavony Township, and although it's possible to activate it with just two other lands, it won't happen that often. Then there's also the chance with Ghost Quarter to destroy your own lands if you have it into play when Blood Moon is cast or in situations like the described at the beginning of this post.

There is no reason being friendly and being competitive can't be synonymous.

GftT is hands down the best mono-black removal in Modern. Yes, I prefer it to Dismember, at least in this deck. (I play 4 Bitterblossom, 4 Watery Graves and 2 Thoughtseize, so I can't afford any more lifeloss.) Just because it's bad against one type of deck doesn't mean it shouldn't be played. Smother is useless against Tron for example, yet noone questions me playing it in the main.

I play smother in the main too. Mostly because smother deals with man lands and everything in affinity, which are huge in my meta. Also goyfs, bobs and oozes.

No one calls you on Smother against Tron because all removal not named Path to Exile is useless against Tron. That doesn't mean that GftT isn't a terrible choice, and it is in any meta where Affinity is even slightly prevalent or in any competitive REL setting.
I wish, oh how I wish that we had some form of life drain that was cheap and efficient so that splashing a third color for something like abrupt decay would be possible. We've talked about BUG and GRIXIS but has anyone tried an ESPER shell? You'd obviously be MUCH more of a control base. Going esper opens us up to things like path or o ring and even sphinx's rev just to name a few things off the top of my head.
This has to have already been talked about and I missed it.
I tried the BUG route with tarmogoyfs and I found it to not be for me. You lose a lot of the interaction (and fun) of the Fae deck when you drop a goyf and just start swinging. Makes it more of a BUG midrange splash faeries deck rather than a Faeries deck splash green.

The best thing about Esper is the ability to run the Gifts Ungiven/Unburial Rites combo in the sideboard. That and Elesh Norn automatically fixes the Pod and aggro matchups. That and Iona stops all of the annoying BGx midrange decks.

It is, it is. Dodging Spellskite is crucial against Twin as well as against BUG Infect. (The latter seems to be somewhat on the rise.) Also, I really don't understand everyone's fear of Affinity. With my build, I have found matches against decks such as Merfolk, Scapeshift or Tron much more challenging.
By the way, my singleton Disfigure has recently let me down against a couple of decks. I'm therefore planning to replace it with a 1-of Sword of Fire and Ice. That would make three swords in my main, which seems much admittedly, I have, however found that I don't draw my two SoFaFs often enough, and they are often crucial to win a race.
You could try Mistbind Clique if you want to race. Then you could play Secluded Glen more consistently instead of Watery Grave, and be able to play Dismember.

I'm currently planning on cutting the green (and tarmos) from my twin deck for main board blood moon for the GP On the 25th this month. I don't believe simply splashing for goyf is a must. I do believe he is an amazing card in this format, but you do not need to play him to have a REL competitive deck.
BUG wasn't bad, and the life loss was negligible (although funny enough there is a mono red and a RWB burn deck in my meta) when you have a 5/6 goyf beating them down, but then you have to ask yourself "why am I playing the Faeries build in the first place".
For me that answer is interaction, fun, and a high-risk high-reward play style.

I can't help but see the logic in this... I might actually try your suggestion, thanks for the input.
By the way, I'm still massively bothered about our burn matchup. What can we do against this archetype? Do you guys side in any particular cards or do you just hope to avoid burn decks by sheer luck? From my point of view, burn is one of the few modern decks that seems downright unbeatable for Fae.
