Hey all. This is my first attempt at an infect deck and i'm on a pretty heavy budget, around 90$. I made up a mono green list, some of the cards i have already.
I have 4x Inkmoth Nexus, but i don't know if it's worth running in a mono green list. I would love some input on this deck, as i plan on buying it within the next two weeks or so. My LGS doesn't really have a meta as no one plays modern, but the college i'm about to start attending is heavy on merfolk and affinity, so help with maindeck and sideboard would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: I really want to add in Gut shots, and wild defiance, but i'm not absolutely sure what to drop.
EDIT 2: Added inkmoths, feel a bit more consistent.
The artifact creature that is next best to Ichorclaw Myr is Necropede IMO, as it can act as removal in some cases. Plague Myr is third, and there is really no reason to run it in the deck (I played it when I first played this deck and found it poor). The main reason the optimal deck runs Noble Hierarch is primarily the Exalted trigger, the second reason is smoothing out blue mana, and mana acceleration is just a happy gift that comes in the package. I think if you should drop Rot Wolf in favor of Necropede to smooth out your mana needs a bit, and because I like it better anyway. A card would have to be downright amazing for 3+ cmc card to be worth running for me in this deck even though I am playing Hierarch.
If I were you in a two color deck that wants to play explosively I would not run any lands that come into play tapped, and instead just run basics + Pendelhaven (and Nexus if you can get them). Perhaps run an extra land in this case.
Thanks, that's useful to know. Finally, any thoughts on Wild Defiance? Don't think I'll need rancor with 4 unblockables and apostles blessing, but an enchantment that gives a boost every time I use another boost on it sounds great. Any idea what should be subbed out?
Hmmm wild defiance is kinda slow, but you could try it out.

This is my updated list, decided to go G/U because it just seems all around better. I'll eventually be switching it to BUG, but that's only after i get the money to buy the fetches and everything. Is this a decent start?
In addition to dropping 1-2 Blessings you can also probably drop a land or two as well. I run 21 but I also built my deck with more control elements. I think that in a deck where the casting cost is two you can easily play 20-21 land. It might be tempting to run less too, but I think that is a mistake when you are running Inkmoth and need to factor in activations. An argument could be made that you want a bit more land because you want to be stacking pumps for bit swings, but that can get out of hand and lead to overextending, and you want to increase your odds of drawing pump too.

Looks good, maybe -2 Necropede for 2 Giant growth.

Bad match up - Control, Burn or deck with lots of spot/mass removals/counters
Good/Average match up - Any other slower decks, tested against jund most of the time and i always seems to run over them =\
My build is actually pretty decent against Control in the first 4-5 turns and tends to loose after that. Against burn and can manage, though it is a tight race to be sure, I can usually come out on top if they over extend their aggression.
I have trouble against combo decks like Twin (no pod) due to the sheer amount of cheap short-term control- it can be a very hard deck to race and it has more repeat performances with Snappy. I have not faced Scapeshift yet.
Abrupt Decay pees in my Kool-Aid. If I can't get ahold of Blessing then it really neuters my deck.

Yeah thats the problem with a infect deck, if u can't win in the first 4-5 turns your chances of winning will be nearly 0% most of the time.

For me, I just choose the most general cards I can think of that are easy to cast. Pithing Needle, and Relic of Progenitus are the first to go in the SB, though some choose Grafdigger's Cage over Relic. Apostles Blessing should be in your MD and you are already running three, so I doubt a 4th is really helpful. You could think about land hate in the SB like Ghost Quarter, as it should be really easy to side in. A kinda weird idea, since you are going all out in the artifact department, is to put 2-3 Cranial Plating in your SB (or even in MD maybe). If you can get a hold of a couple-three Dismember that could be good too. Lastly, there are a lot of artifact/enchant options open for you in green- Nature's Claim is the easiest to cast in a fast deck, and we don't give a rat's ass about life. I play a slower build, so I am kinda partial to Krosan Grip myself.
The real problem, and I am still kinda bad at this, is knowing what to pull when you start adding answers, and you can only learn that by doing it because it is very match dependent.
I was considering the Budget GU list in the first post... can be the Theros card Aqueous Form an alternative to Distortion Strike?
Same cost, same speed, cannot target different creatures but last more than 2 turns, doesn't give +1/+0 (greater drawback IMO) but the scry ability can be also very useful to plan our next turn.
What do you think about this card?
Hey thats a pretty good card!

Hmmm try to get a playset of inkmoth nexus in, don't think u will need to run hinterland harbor with that much fetchlands as mana fixing will be easy.
Don't think you will need birds of paradise as as it contribute nothing except mana ramp, which is better with noble hierarch as hierarch provides the exalted bonus.
Why are you running BoP if you are running 2 color and have a fully decked out mana base?
Why are you not running black with that mana base?
Why are you not running Inkmoth Nexus?
Even if you run Inkmoth (which you should) I don't think you are running enough infect creatures and too many pumps. I run 12 pumps and still pull off turn 2-3 wins with some frequency, 18 (as you are running) does not make your deck more reliable because you will have far too many early games with no infect creatures.

Cab, if you've you've got overgrown tombs then put those in and then swap out the ichorclaw myrs for plague stingers. Flying is very good against most decks (it's one reason why inkmoth is so good). Adding black also lets you play inquisition or thoughtseize in the sideboard.

Birds of Paradise is useless in this deck.
This deck needs Might of Old Krosa.
This deck needs Inkmoth Nexus.
You also probably could use a little more protection, like Simic Charm.
From my testing, Llanowar Reborn is actually pretty useful, so you might want to consider it.
Also, the deck could use Pendelhaven.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
