Thanks. Any particular advice against Tron? (Both RG and U) I can never seen to get a handle on that matchup. Even in game 2.
Full credit to Paralda, I'm using a decklist he posted. (And having good success so far. Im loving the Norin interaction with the lifegain, even though the champions get removed quickly) I'm considering using Oblivion Ring as well, but I'm not sure what I'd take out.
2 Arid Mesa
2 Cavern of Souls
4 Clifftop Retreat
2 Mountain
6 Plains
4 Sacred Foundry
4 Ajani's Pridemate
2 Auriok Champion
4 Champion of the Parish
4 Norin the Wary
2 Purphoros, God of the Forge
4 Ranger of Eos
4 Serra Ascendant
4 Soul Warden
4 Soul's Attendant
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Path to Exile
This list is similar to mine- I use 4 champions and less pridemates, and have put one banishing light and o ring in two of the path slots. You should consider Eiganjo Castle- protects Norin vs lavamancner/chandra, taps like a plain- only knackers retreat's checkland abililty.
It [Norin] feels great/unbeatable until you run into lilly, lavamancer etc plus some of the combo decks. There is a Norin thread in creation, BTW.
Seriously, @ everyone here- why are some people still not running 4 Auriok Champion?

Because of the price.

By the insanity that is modern prices I thought they are pretty reasonably priced. I was assuming some people were making a strategic choice not to play them. Fair cop if not. I can't see a reprint given the less-than-positive attitude taken by wizards towards protection and life gain triggers. It does not violate the de facto "keep standard slow, dull and midrange (and then randomly give it thoughtseize)" policy.
SS suffers from an excess of people wanting to play it because it is cheap, and have thus driven up the prices off signature cards ascendant and auriok champion, in conjunction with major dealers who look to spike prices in "cheap" decks.

People with belligerent signatures are trying to compensate for something....
Auriok's price is more because of tokens than Soul Sisters. I don't think four is the right number in sisters because more than 7-8 sister effects gets unnecessary fast in the mono-white build and it can't be fetched from Ranger of Eos. I think 2-3 maindeck and cutting a sister or two and a Ranger is a little safer. I'm going to grab some again in the future (I sold them when they spiked up to a little higher than where they are now to grab some Legacy stuff) and try that route.
What does everyone think of Militia's Pride and Spirit Bonds ? Sprit Bonds seems way slower to produce tokens but the protection/indestructible may come in handy.
i like militia's pride better because it puts the creature in tapped and attacking. figuaratively your comparing enchantments that give you "non-flying haste creature token" or "non-haste flying creature token" which ever one seems more valuable is the one you should choose.
if your running honor of the pure i think pride is better because you will be adding 2/2s right then and there to increase your attack swarm.
technically its worth noting even though this isn't the norin sisters thread that norin the wary if one were running him could trigger pride's trigger before exiling himself.
playing either version of the deck is there any use for Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx?
I find i have a large presence as I play the deck, not sure if theres anything to use it to tap into?

azorius charm might be useful, but i don't see the plan of geist of saint traft panning out. he warps the deck because your going to board things that protect his 2/2 frame or give him evasion. ajani's pridemate and serra's ascendent do must better aggro already.
if i were to add anything from blue i'd consider cards like artful dodge, distortion strike, and even mizziumskin. skin as an extra means to protect against spot removal. dodge or strike as a 1 or 2 of to help push a large pridemate or ascendant through any blockers.

IMO - hell you may not need Ranger - he's great to have, but IMO if you don't have Auriok Champion, get that first.
I remember a 2010 video where Rob Dougherty made a 16 land white weenie deck using Kor Skyfisher and Knight of the White Orchid to cheat the land count on top of 8 fetches to thin out the deck and Soul Sisters reminded me of that initially, especially since he mentioned toying with Squadron Hawk too and he used Soul Warden as well. d] as well.
Anyone want to try this brew out? Not sure how well it would work without Honor of the Pure - I put Brave the Elements in its place, but you could always change it back - Kor Skyfisher / Knight of the White Orchid will leave you with one mana open a lot of the times and are good combo fodder and thin out the deck a lot and would give you extra triggers per turn. I only put 3 of each in since you obviously don't want to play either on turn 2.
This is a pricier version as I put in 4 marsh flats to speed the deck up - but not sure if you can overcome the minor life loss. In any event you have 3 new cards that either thin the deck out or speed it up - no more Windbrisk Heights coming in tapped, only to be tectonic Edge 'ed or make you pay 2 mana for a 1 mana spell...
I like Kor Skyfisher since it's still the same cost as Squadron Hawk, but has three toughness flyer off the bat so it dodges pyroclasm and other board wipes.
Let me know what you think, I may try it - not sure how good it will be without Ranger of Eos, but it reduces the curve at least and the new cards do filter the deck and IMO it seems easier to curve out to me than the 20-1 land version and it seems easier to reach 5 mana now. I like the idea of Windbrisk Heights and it can filter out cruddy draws but every match I see on Youtube/MTGO it gets destroyed very often before getting activated.
I love leonin arbiter, in the side, makes it hard for decks like pod to grind u out and decks with a lot of fetchlands, also can put the brakes on tron search spells like sylvan scrying and stops scapeshift enough time to gain a safe ammount of life, I simply love him and makes path to exile best removal evah!
Ive been playing with the Norin version of this deck lately and it is super fun. I think against most fair match-ups, the deck has game. It just annoys me that we basically lose to all combo with no way to disrupt it unless it is a creature based combo and you constantly leave Path up, but there is no guarantee that will work.
There have been many match-ups where i get my stuff out and start the steam rolling, but still lose in turn 5 or 6 (sometimes turn 3 or 4 to the fast decks) because the combo decks dont care how much life you have. They couldnt care less.
It made me think hard about Modern in general and unless you have a deck that can combo out by turn 4 (or simply win by turn 4 like Bogles, Affinity, and Burn can) then you just dont have a good Modern deck. I think the best decks have a way to win normally, but also have that combo stuck in there that can win the game from no where. Soul Sisters is missing that 'win out of nowhere' aspect, which is a shame, so sometimes it takes too long to win, even with the game firmly in hand, when the opposing deck can suddenly go off and beat you from 30'ish life to 0.
I played a guy recently who had a bunch of can trip artifacts, got him to 1 life while myself up to 30'ish, and then he had the never ending turn od sac'ing his artifacts to some mana producing artifact, then getting all the artifacts back into play with the white spell that brings them from the graveyard to play, then just used a burn X spell for however much he wanted to. It was gross.
They say the magic to Modern is 'as long as you know your deck through and through, you can win', but thats bullsht. There are decks that win on turn 3 or 4 and this one doesnt AND cant stop them.
What about something like Angel's Grace to make their combo not kill you?
Thats a pretty awesome idea, i'll slot a few in the sideboard for the combo decks and see how it goes. Luckily, white has a ton of hate, so you can hopefully land a stony silence or suppression field and do other things to slow down the combo, too.
The best thing about Soul Sisters is that there are a zillion burn decks online and I dont think i've lost a match to one yet.

You do realize that Hushwing Gryff hoses Soul Sisters as well? No triggers from the sisters, no Squadron Hawks, no Ranger. Theres a reason Torpor Orb is occasionally brought in against us.

Immortal Servitude is awesome. burrenton forge-tender or Judge's familiar may also work as protection. Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant is 4-5$ which is a decent chunk of Serra Ascendant, but it's a nice throw in / Sideboard fodder. Rhox Faithmender may be fun but it's 4$
Cheaper routes - Nyx-Fleece Ram, Wall of Omens, or if you want to add in another land, and take a minor risk Increasing Devotion maybe as a 1 of. Crusader of Odric is kind of a cheap/hokey one, but may be effective considering the token count and could be another Ajani's Pridemate.
