I would probably bring it in against Burn and name Lava Spike or Bump in the Night (nothing that can target a creature, thus making dead draws). I might bring it in against Melira Pod, naming Murderous Redcap. Possibly name Liliana of the Veil against BGx, 8Rack, etc...
Honestly, I am not 100% sold on the card. I'm trying it out in place of Worship just to see how it goes.
Can't name Goblin with Runed Halo. Runed Halo doesn't protect against tokens, due to the fact it reads "Name a card", of which tokens aren't cards.
What about psychogenic probe for the deck? It will hurt us, but it will mess up pod, fetch lands, gifts and any deck that searches their libraries too much.
Psychogenic Probe does not really hinder your opponent from shuffling. He still CAN fetch and search. The deck seems very tight for me at the moment - what would you take out for Probe? I could not think of a card that i would want to rather be a Probe.... I would not play probe therefore.
@DolZero:
Have you considered Story Circle? I know it is kind of a weird suggestion, but it would in fact help vs Bogle, Burn, Merfolk (and a bit vs Storm, preventing lethal or at least forcing them to go into a higher Storm Count). Might be worth more than RunedHalo - but i yet have to test it over Worship...

re Gifts - the way I read it, you wouldn't be able to choose any cards because of the halo but wouldn't they still get whatever they searched for? "chosen cards go to the gy and the rest in your hand"

True, true. I suppose you could still name Pestermite or Splinter Twin to get around those tokens though. Worship is still probably better though.

It seems worse. Having to incrementally invest mana will end up costing more over the life of a game. It doesn't help much vs Storm, since it only prevents one source, and many goblin tokens, or many copies of Grapeshot can easily get around that.

With Gifts, the card actually targets the opponent, so your opponent wouldn't have a legal target to even cast Gifts. "Target opponent chooses two of those cards." If you name Gifts Ungiven with Runed Halo, they can't target you with the spell.

Yea, another precaffinated brain issue. Move along, nothing to see here.
Could Batterskull be a Baneslayer Angel replacement?
Yes. Batterskull is pretty good. The only real downside is being taxed by Thalia, Guardian of Thraben. Do a quick search and you will find that we've talked about Batterskull several times in this thread.
Any thoughts about mistcutter hydra for those in a heavy UWr meta?
It cannot be countered
Has the potential to come out big the longer the match goes.
Cannot be bounced by CC
Cannot be blocked by anything they drop
If played correctly the only out they have against it is path.
I'm on the Choke game plan for those decks. It really seems like the best sideboard card to bring in against them. That said, I haven't tested Mistcutter, but it doesn't seem nearly as good.
i like Sigarda, Host of Herons as my big beater. i often find the hexproof and anti-sac is often more relevant than the life link and vigilance of baneslayer, and she is super scary with a sword.
I hate when they path mi BSA, but on the other hand if you untap with it (she?) you are quite ahead. The angel can also keep you alive with the First Strike+Lifelink when you are in red numbers and facing a lot of criters, and gives you a flying beater. Batterskull isn't that powerful, but it's more resilient and versatile... it survives PtE, Wraths, among other things. And unlike WUR Control, if the token gets killed by Abrupt Decay of something you can always equip a dude and beat face. I think that BSA is the card that I want to be playing in my aggro deck, but the equipment is a fine replacement.

A bigger (sometimes) Thrun that dies to Path to Exile? I would rather play more copies of the troll in the board. It's good vs blue decks, and also vs Rock (Jund, Junk, BG, etc)

I also play Choke. I usually bring it vs Merfolk, WUR, Blue Moon, and sometimes Twin.
I believe WoTC's new policy is to make sure that every color can enjoy the exciting gameplay mechanic of making undercosted dudes and then turning them sideways. Clearly the future of magic.

lately it seems that many of the GW hatebears decks that are posting results online are running the same flicker package as modern Death & Taxes ( example http://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=6929&d=239773&f=MO ); restos, splicers, vials, and wisps. are these lists simply mislabeled as GW hatebears when they should be called GW D&T? or is it the natural progression of GW hatebears? is it a better deck? personally, i dont think i like it. too many spots are wasted on vial and flicker dudes and i'd rather pack more hate, also i used to play d&t and im tired of it

I am a D&T player in legacy, and have had a modern version of it sleeved up since modern was introduced. But I would like to go to the Grand Prix next month, and I feel like it is not strong enough to handle the meta right now, so I have come here looking to convert it into this. Something I definitely like is that this deck has the ability to play Torpor Orb in the sideboard, which I feel hoses some of the more popular decks in the format right now, and is a card I could never have previously used as D&T relies heavily on ETB triggers. I do have a couple of questions though to help me better understand the deck.
Why only 2 Quasali Pridemage? Don't most modern decks have plenty of targets for him? I would have expected 3 or 4
How Good are the Kamigawa Pump Lands in this deck? I never bought into the idea of Castle in legacy, as bolt is killing Thalia regardless, but is there enough 2 mana damage in Modern to make them worthwhile? Do they come in handy saving Linvala very much?
Baneslayer Angel. Are we utilizing her for the lifelink to better us in specific matchups, or is she just a badass that comes down as a late-game finisher that quickly changes the lifespread?

personally, i do run 4 pridemage but i dont have Noble Hierarchs or Voice of Resurgence so i have a bit more room in my list. i think it really just comes down to meta / personal preference. the kamigawa lards are definitely worth it as they have no down side and can save dudes from things like Whipflare etc. Baneslayer is mostly a win con / big beater, the life gain is rarely relevant. i actually prefer Sigarda, Host of Herons because she has hexproof and the anti-sac ability helps a lot against the various pox or stax strategies, like assault loam, that always pop up
I really want to build G/W hate bears but, and all of the regulars at my shop said its bad in this meta and in general because it was a anti-meta deck once. Thoughts?

<rant> I think people use the word "meta" way too much. </rant>
That being said, the deck is what you make of it. You can tweak the bears you use to hate on whatever you're going to be facing - thats its strength. The downside here is that yea, if you guess wrong and don't properly set up your 75 you probably won't do as great. This deck - somewhat more than others - relies on messing with the opponents' plan rather than having a set plan of its own. Other decks have a more linear direction - Twin wants to combo out, 8rack wants you with no cards, pod wants to chain out to some kind of combo (or just out value you). Hatebears takes a lot of thought ahead of time to properly tweak to your environment. Its not a deck that you can just take any given list and run away with.
I tend to think of Hatebears as a 75 card sideboard that you choose 60 of at any given time to play. Its a lot of constant thinking and rethinking on how you set your 60 ahead of time. If you enjoy that kind of mental exercise then you'll probably enjoy it.
