At Toronto, was in round 1 'time warp' match after the main feature ended. Cannot confirm, but I think another was on day 2.
Day 1, Scott Ho starting point. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/227608922?t=5372s
Yeah so 7-1 is no mean feat before facing that humans deck. Well done to the guy.
But I have to feel these days that not splashing black or white for removal is probably a mistake?
Humans is a huge hurdle to overcome in modern right now. Aggro in general needs some sort of roadblock.
I have to say though that ancestral vision impressed me on camera. If I was going just on that coverage (despite the turns player losing) I'd rate ancestral over howling mine.
Search for azcanta mmmhhhrrmmmm man I dunno. Seems like having a little more interaction would be better.

I was thinking the exact opposite. It looked too slow and after the three cards it looked like he was stuck doing nothing drawing one card a turn.
Edit, by the way, why am I not playing Field of Ruin in my mono-U build? It is almost free and adds a little extra power against a lot of decks!
Haha so there's something worth considering here:
Howling mine if drawn early costs more and give your opponent extra cards for the same effect of three cards drawn. Vision helps you start going off which is quite nice. In the matches we saw, if vision didn't get him there, howling mine wouldn't have done either!
I've dismissed vision in the past. At least now I'm reconsidering my opinion. Howling mine has long been the weakest card in the deck (despite having a valuable function of course) so i'm willing to test vision even if it turns out being the wrong card in the fullness of time.

If you are siding out search for azcanta in nearly every game, what do you think of it overall? I'm not sold on it yet. Could be convinced to try it though

I'm not a commander's fun,because we need card advantage.
3 thing are enough,i'll cut 1 of course for 1 bribery maybe, or dispel or clique or rejection.
Thing is biggest against aggro,shadow,eldrazi.
I like ancestral vision, but isn't good in fast meta.
See it's interesting you say that because I never had a huge issue with fast decks. It was the jund/Abzan decks I always used to get destroyed by. Howling mine never seemed great as an early play but turn 1 suspend ancestral seems great. Not every build will want it but a version splashing white or black for removal and disruption will like AV more I think.

Ancestral vision is great card in.bgx meta, because you can go out from decay, pulse, discard and draw 3 for restart your game against them.
I'm pretty sure we can do better, maybe play jace ,double snapcaster mage, unsubstantiate, hieroglyphic illumination,censor...but is difficult work on this deck; our flex slot are 5-6
Most of those cards aren't playable in this deck, unfortunately.
And ancestral vision is only really ever a replacement for howling mine, nothing else.
Pros: if suspended on turn one it's better at helping you 'go off' & sees more cards than a mine would in the early game.
Cons; if drawn later it takes a while to get going so it's not as immediate an engine in the late game.
Anyway I'm going to do a bit of testing with the card seeing as I now own a playset of them. Let's see what happens.

Not playing JTMS in Taking Turns will be a huge mistake. He's a straight upgrade from Chandra, Torch of Defiance in UR builds and is simply bonkers with Temporal Mastery. By using JTMS we can even afford not to play any Mine effects.

Why don't you come and contribute making the best Abzan deck in modern? Abzan Liege
i dont think jace will improve the deck that much
might see play, it is a strong card on his own for sure, but it will probablybe a 1 of in some builds because you just like him and you wanna play him
meh idk how to feel about that
basically
the first effect culd be +2: do nothing. with that cost we already have some mine effects and we dont need filtering that much late game
0: brainstorm is much more appealing
we would -1 like 1 match out 100
the ultimate doesnt win us the game
i dont know if i want a 4mana brainstorm everyturn since late game if we combo we are already winning
JTMS allows any Temporal in our starting hands or not drawn first to be miracled. It definitely has a lot of potential. T3 exhaust, T4 JTMS, T5 miracles into going off maybe?
with the unban of Jace, are we looking at a completely different playstyle of the deck? It certainly feels like you don't just run it out on turn 4, unprotected, correct? with that in mind, if we're playing Jace, would we shift to a more creature-centric strategy utilizing cheap CMC, high toughness creatures to aid in keeping Jace alive? Thinking main deck: TitI Spellskite Wall of Frost (lol) Sidisi's Faithful Deceiver Exarch Calcite Snapper (which I've used as a "win-con" before, and shroud is solid in a world FULL of fatal push)
I know this is all speculation (discussion?) at this point, but probably worth bringing up because windmill slamming a turn 4 Jace onto a developed board is not what we want to do. Maybe the turns deck doesnt even want Jace, and we just stick it out with Riverwise Augur (which has been bonkers every time I've cast it).

the problem is

t4 jace
t5 nothing because you lost tapping out for him

very much this
i wouldnt run more than one
i wouldnt run a 4 mana mine effect even if it is definetly more powerful than that.
winmore late game and unplayable early game
He should be played here the same way Chandra, Torch of Defiance is employed. When you have resources to make sure he is alive. Playing a turn 4 Jace, the Mind Sculptor against a field full of creatures is nothing more than a overcosted Fog. That is not how you play with Jace.
But you must be kidding to think that one Brainstorm every turn is not game changing. Jace is simply the best planeswalker card ever printed (aside from, maybe, this guy) and he wasn't banned for nothing. The fact that he can put Temporal Mastery back on top is huge for the deck, allowing us to develop and go for the kill.
Hell, I would even say that turn a 4 Jace, the Mind Sculptor putting Temporal Mastery on the top and having Island + Dictate of Kruphix is enough to simply go off. Assuming they don't have lethal, Jace takes the punch and you have the engine setup to go. If they ignore Jace I'm pretty sure the game will end quickly.
The unban of Jace will certainly make this deck jump in strength. We simply play cards that are subpar compared to him and he makes an excelent substitute.
