I think it is more on who is on the play or on the draw. Chalice in Adonis2k version might be too slow. But if on one with SSG, it can be game breaking. Personally, I had tried chalice and I don't really like it. I will accept a loss vs bogles which is uncommon. The 2 stormbreath dragon in the SB of adonis2k version, I am thinking if swap to pithing needle, would it be better? It can stop lightning storm, oblivion stone, cranial plating, arcbound ravager, Planeswalker, eldrazi displacer and such which I played against today and I find stormbreath not really good against bant eldrazi or bw eldrazi whatever.
So realistically at I think we should start calling Adonis2k's list Eternal Skred since it's basically the only build that runs eternal scourge.
Overall I think a reckoner build without SSG might still be best for a blind fnm level meta, but the Eternal Scourge lists might just be the strongest overall at a GP/MTGO League level.
There's a few tweaks I would personally make, but the list is solid.
Also for the bogles matchup, either try to avoid it, or start boarsing Glaring Spotlight
Or run chalice in the board. I have 2-of and they work really well against combo and lantern (screw that deck)
If there's ay card I want to pull out of a sdeboard for skred chalice is the last one because then I have to find out how I'm boarding out 12 cards for 2
What are you using skred and bolt for in the boggles MU? Or lantern? It's more awkward in infect so you don't need it there. The card is for no interactive combo like Grishoal (x=2) but has application, boggles for instance, where you one drops suck anyway.
Vs bogles I don't sideboard at all. Skred can hit spirit dancer/dryad arbor/their spellskite. If anything I might bring in pyrite spellbomb over relic but for the most part here isn;t anything worth bringing for a matchup I haven't even played for..... a year and a half or so.
Vs lantern I cut Sweepers, Skred, Roast and board in Molten Rain/Shattering Spree/Outpost Siege/Pyrite Spellbomb. I have yet to drop a match vs lantern.
I have no reason to even board chalice because I'd literally only use it for the bogles matchup, which I'd rather just avoid if I can. Sure it's not a great matchup, but I'm also not very likely to see the deck at all.
Basically cards like Chalice or Spellskite aren't great cards for our deck, simply because the cards are so narrow. I would never board spellskite, because I can't pay blue mana to save me from paying 2 life, and even then the matchups spellskite is good for us are matchups so fringe we can just avoid it (And no, don't mention burn, you DO NOT EVER board spellskite in vs burn WITHOUT BLUE MANA).
Those cards are examples of why people think modern is such a sideboard format. It's really not that kind of format at all. Yes there are super powerful silver bullet sideboard cards, but there are not sideboard slotsenough of those. So what we really need to do is learn how to handle the match up and have a synergistic sideboard that doesn't ruin our gameplan just to hose a deck out of a game.
Combustible gearhulk is good in edh, but I don't think it is very good for skred. The new chandra, what is her role in our deck? Chandra pyromaster helps in giving us card advantage but chandra ToD, the +1 effect must be use immediately which can limit it's effectiveness.
@Cksboy are you going to keep outpost siege in the sb after Kaldesh rotates in? How many new Chandra do you anticipate playing?
I plan on trying Chandra as a two of and keep the outpost siege for now. Might be too much, might not be. I'm not concerned with milling myself out, but being able to have 3 (4 if you get a land off scrying sheets) cards a turn seems too good to pass up in some matchups especially in mono red.
I like the gearhulk, but he doesn't have haste and an opponent would probably let it mill us. Sure we can hit magical Christmas land and mill something like 2 koths and a stormbreath, but we have an average curve of 1.3 (including lands) which is not a very high amount of damage.
Yeah, I just don't like gearhulk, removal bait with a less consistent browbeat stapled to it. And browbeats no good to start with.
If it's etb were better or it blanked significant removal, then sure. But as is its a no-go.
Im okay with that though considering how bonkers chandra tod is. Outside of machinegunning tokens, there's nothing she cant beat pyromaster at.e
Hopefully we can get 1, maybe even 2, new cards to accompany her that have scry. If there's one thing id kill for, it's more scry.
The Red Gearhulk is not good in Modern. The average Cmc of decks just isn't worth it. They will let you mill every time and more than likely you will mill a land, bolt and a relic haha.
Creative Spark just got spoiled. I'm not sure if we need it, but it looks interesting. It either cantrips in the lategame or kills a creature. The problem seems to be the same like with the Gearhulk, our average CMC is too low for it to be reliable.

I don't hate it. It can be either removal or it can give us a card. It might be alright. It's another card for me to preorder regardless for testing. If anything we can use it to smooth out draws maybe even pickup a missed land drop.

I like it a lot. It's a small removal which can also cantrips and it has a sweet interaction with Eternal Scourge.
I foresee myself playing this, drawing Skred or bolt and using that to kill said creature anyway.
That being said it seems like more often than not it will be a do nothing cnatrip which makes me think unless you really need to thin the deck or are playing Scourge it's not worthwhile.
So I'm sorry to jump in during discussion of a new card. I wanted to get your guys opinion on where magma jet fits best? I know it's been discussed but right now I'm running a reckoner build with mind stones and a split of the usual stuff (2 P&K 2 Stormbreath and a Batterskull. I can link an actual list if necessary but I just wanted to get input on how needed jet is. I main 1 roast and 1 hangarback which would probably be the cards coming out.

This card looks pretty decent. It actually works great with Jet, because Jet can set up an ideal target. It's nice in that it gives another out to big creatures, and cantrips otherwise.
Unfortunately, it needs a creature on the table to target, otherwise it's dead in hand. That may not always happen.
If I ran 3-4 Scourge and 4 Jet, I'd run Sparks. Since I don't run Scourge... meh?
Finished third with 3-1 in a 17 player tournament yesterday.
R1 against Grixis Delver 2:0
Game 1: Blood Mooned.
Game 2: After a lot of trading we end up in a topdeck war, but I have a Scrying Sheets and grind him out with Koths.
1-0
R2 against UB Fairies 2:0
Game 1: Blood Mooned. Also a bad draw on his side.
Game 2: No discard from his side of the table, I land a turn 3 Koth. From this point on he's always on the back foot and i keep playing threats until he scoops.
This matchup looked positive, their manabase is greedy and when they tap out for a Bitterblossom they're basically dead to any threat or Blood Moon i resolve.
2-0
R3 against Grishoalbrand 1:2
Game 1: I had Relics, but he had Through the Breach.
Game 2: I side in all the burn i have, win with Koth while he can'tfind a loot spell.
Game 3: One thing I did not think about was Quicksilver Amulet, so i still had 2 Skreds in the main, which could have been Shatterstorm and Vandalblast. I die to to Worldspine Wurms.
Did not expect to win this matchup.
2-1
R4 against Dredge 2:0
Game 1: Anger and Relic win the game.
Game 2: Same as above.
This matchup is probably a 70-30 or more for us. They can't do anything at all.
3-1
I placed third, UR delver second and Grishoalbrand first. Honestly not much to say about this tournament, I won the games i expected to win and lost those I expected to lose. Another tournament tonight and then the WMCQ on sunday. Don't think I'll change the list.

Ad Nauseum also plays Phyrexian Unlife which means they can still win.
This card looks like a good fit for this deck, even more so if you also run a deck with Demigod of Revenge and Goblin Darkdweller.

The scry is just immeasurably powerful
