So I don't claim to have the most experience with this deck. I've logged maybe 300 or so matches online so far. But here are a few observations I've made on the deck thus far:
It's surprisingly mana intensive. You need to ramp to 4 or 5 mana ASAP, because generally the first few turns you're not doing much in the way of interaction. The deck is really about early ramping and disruption then throwing out 4+ haymakers. This is why Fatal Push tends to hurt so much.
Getting to 3+ mana ASAP is the difference between winning and losing. Early Blood Moons win games, period. Sticking planeswalkeres with some defense ends games. There's been some talk about the SSG vs Mind Stone. Personally, I find 5 2CMC mana rocks to be important in order to ramp into T4+ spells. To that end, Gemstone Caverns is probably the most undervalued card for this deck, and perhaps the Modern format in general. It makes every mull on the draw better and allows for T2 Blood Moons and planeswalkers with a mana rock. It also has synergy with Eternal Scourge.
Pia and Kiran Nalaar is a must include. It's ridiculous gas. It a source of stabilization and offence all in one. So versatile with all the artifacts we run.
I still don't have enough data on this to say with much certainty, but my continued experience with Heart of Kiran leads me to believe it's going to soon be a staple in this deck for multiple reasons. 1) It's a T2 play, which the deck sorely lacks. 2) It serves dual purposes: protecting planeswalkes while simultaneously going on the offence. It's very comparable to thunderbreaks in double dragon builds while coming down 2 turns earlier. 3) So many of our cards turn it on. It may not seem that way, but here's a quick list of cards that activate it the turn they come down: Eternal Scourge, Boros Reckoner, Goblin Rabblemaster, Pia and Kiran Nalaar, Chandra, Torch of Defiance, Koth of the Hammer, Thunderbreak Regent, Stormbreath Dragon, etc... That's not to say all of these will be activating it every turn, but in the case of planeswalkers they nearly will be. And even if you don't activate it, it still pitches to Pia.
I'm still torn between Spellskite and Eternal Scourge. I think I would like to run Scourges main and Skites in the side, but I can't find any room in my SB. Currently I'm still running Skites main. They are an early T2 blocker, disrupt any removal, and pitch to Pia.
You are running the Scourge version? What did you remove to slot in Heart of Kiran(s)? I am playing the Scourge myself and am curious about HoK.
I just finally got my third Blood Moon, and finished my playset of Koths and took the deck to our local Modern night last week. Went 4-0 which was a nice little start. In the four rounds I played against Burn, R/W Norin, Red Deck Wins and UB Faeries, only losing one game to Burn. Perhaps not murderers row of Tier 1 decks, but it was nice to start someone. I had planned on taking on taking Lantern Control to GP Vancouver next month, but seeing my opponents pissed off when they were locked out was starting to get me down. Hoping to get lots of reps in before the GP.
Hey guys im new to this archtype just picked it up in paper. What are your thoughts on Sarkhan? Does he get a boost with everyone jamming fatal push?
It is important to remember that sarkhan does dodge the "destroy" and damage based removal while he's a creature but path is so prevalent in most metas that stormbreath is just better.
Do you think Crumble to Dust is worth it over, say, Surgical Extraction??
It's not garaunteed we'll see a Molten Rain vs Tron at all even when we play 4 copies, nor will we likely see 1 of the 2-3 surgicals to pair with it. It's better just to play Crumble in that scenario.
Vs any other deck surgical seems like a decent choice, but it's literally only going to be played to "punk" someone since the card alone is not enough to stop delve or even dredge. Against those we already play a typical 4 copies of Relic of Progenitus.
I'm starting to notice how clunky Double Dragon is. Is dropping down to 3 of each dragon like how another user suggested a good idea?
Are you running 4 thunderbreak and 4 stormbreath? Still 4 Koth and 1 or 2 Chandra?
The thing is that you have to keep your curve in mind with this deck. The standard build can already get some wonky hands with the higher curve that we play compared to other decks. I try to keep the average CMC around 2.7 or 2.8 at the most.
ive seen people running rabblemasters in the sideboard to try and race them.
but in all honesty it's one of our worst matchups out there, if it's really common i'd say try out the red/black skred list for its hand disruption.
Board out as many cards that don't interact with your opponent's life total as possible (such as Anger of the Gods, Skred, and other creature removal. Leave in Lightning Bolts because they hit your opponent's face, and keep your ramp to accelerate into threats), then bring in everything that does interact with your opponent's life total. Cards like Pyrite Spellbomb, Sudden Shock, and specifically for this matchup, Goblin Rabblemaster. I also like Shattering Spree in this matchup.

Ok guys, I got an overall spreadhseet made up for us just to dump data into. I'll eventually figure out the best route to sorting out the different builds preferrably without having to make 7 different spreadsheets.
I'm really on the fence - i've put my skred red on hold cause i can't figure out whats the best build out there to be running. Mindstones, SSG, Double Dragon, Planeswalkers, Eternal Skred, P&K...just not quite settled on any of them anymore.
Funny thing happened at a little tournament i went this tuesday, playing against a mill deck. Did you know that if an Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver exiles an Eternal Scourge, you can't actually play it from exile? It's one of those things that never even ocurred to me lol.

You can play it from under Ashiok.

Overall if Tron is as huge as I was seeing, might be worthwhile to move up to 4 molten rain and one Crumble to Dust in the side.

1. Dropping a Hangarback Walker with 3 counters and Pia&Kiran in play against lantern.
2. Dropping a 1-of Zealous Conscripts into ult on my Koth, with shocks to finish off my threats with emblem.

Could be the case. I'd try trimming a stormbreath or thunderbreak and seeing what happens.

You can play it from under Ashiok.
