Between cycling Street Wraith and fetching and shocking a lot for lands, your life total can get pretty low to make Death's Shadow a potential threat. And it costing 1 mana makes it a creature you can use to trigger Vengevines that are in your graveyard.
Honestly it still needs testing to see how good they are. But I feel like at the end of the day they may just be mediocre to bad in this list.

I agree with Slitz. This would just be a mediocre deaths shadow deck if we added him. By all means, try it out. But why not just go Grixis deaths shadow?
Using the varolz combo shouldnt be your go to strategy. The correct way to play the deck is to feel the situation.
If it is easier to play hollow one then pitch varolz, if you can pitch varolz in order to cast tasigur turn 3 then go for it. Varolz shouldnt be the main tactic of the deck. The tactic of the deck is to adapt. You can play tempo or play very very aggressive by playing all the discard and grisly salvage and solely search or the hollow one/vengevine route. Alternatively you can go the hollow one/varolz route. or you can go the varolz/shadow/vengevine route.
Now I am still working out the kinks but i fell like i am getting very close. This month i am adding in fetchlands (wooded foothills, bloodstained mires) and this will really smoothen the consistency up. I test this deck vs my other modern decks (E-tron, affinity) and I will be honest and say it is on the edge of really blowing them out of the water but I am missing something and I am not sure what.
Skitzafreak I highly recommend at least testing a few tasigurs. Grisly Salvage + Tasigur turn 2 is seriously business (of course you need a bird out )
But I am having some very very explosive plays with my list. In the coming weeks I will be testing it out versus a few other modern decks.
as for this being a weaker Grixis Shadow I have to disagree. This deck has the ability to go very wide, much wider than grixis shadow not only that, thsi deck is more resiliant to removal especially against fatal pushes. Of course this deck isnt AS GOOD as grixis shadow but grixis shadow has so many people working out the kinks, I honestly feel this deck has far more potential.
We are close gentleman, we are very close.

I dont want to keep posting my list but here is the list that I update as I go. I am working on this deck almost every day. As skitzafreak goes his route I would like to stay on this one and maybe one of us will find the monster this deck could become.
I will have time to record and upload some games tonight, so stay tuned. Tonight I will be testing out the list I posted a few days ago running Conflagrate and Driven // Despair. We shall see how these cards work out for us across our League games

Skitzafreak I was thinking.. how do you feel about liliana of the veil?
Also please try out a few more tasigurs i really feel it will be good in your list.
I remember trying out Liliana of the Veil way back when I was playing Dredgevine before and it was very mediocre to bad. It may not be horrible now as the version we're playing actually gets to cast all of its cards. Though I'd rather test that one out in paper as I have a playset of paper LotV's and I don't wanna dish out for MTGO ones
As for more Tasigurs, everything in good time. I will try out more of them when I am testing other stuff. Tonight will be focusing on Conflagrate and Driven // Despair

Currently in the middle of recording League games and I found a GAME BREAKING BUG. At least with concerns to this deck.
Hollow One does not receive a cost discard from discarding aftermath cards. In my case I discovered this after discarding 2 Driven // Despair to a Faithless Looting after discarding a card to an Insolent Neonate and it was asking me to pay 3 to cast my Hollow One :|

That doubling season game was painful. Ive noticed I ALWAYS lose if Nihiri comes down. Not just this deck. I hate her so much.
I didnt like the D//D in the deck. It only did something once you were ahead a bit. And it still didnt win you the game.
It wasn't just the last game, it was every game in this League. in 5 of 5 matches we played against people playing white decks that likely had both Rest in Peace and Path to Exile. I honestly think I am going to try a Competitive League next time around and see how that flies.
I have to disagree with omnivision. D//D didnt win you the game vs that doubling seasons deck bc it was not used correctly any times you played it. When you cast it to make the opponent discard you should have drawn. And when you drew you should have played both halves. I believe more testing with D//D is needed.

Yeah I think I mentioned that either in game or in the wrap-up video. I definitely agree more testing with the card is required. Though it does have a huge disadvantage right now with it being bugged.
It means that it will be harder to justify keeping hands where we have Driven // Despair since we can't use it as discard fodder to make our Hollow Ones cheaper. As I said in the wrap up I am probably going to start doing Competitive Leagues now since our matches ups in the friendly are WAY too random and aren't giving us any really concrete conclusions from our testing.
I'm honestly feeling a little under the weather today so I may call in and not go to work. If that happens I may play another League and do some recordings, though don't expect grade A commentary if I am under the weather.

I played that weird white enchantment deck a few times as well. We just win by pushing through damage then pulsing the phyrexian unlife. Path will be Path. The deck Im also having trouble against is the vizier CoCo combo deck. Ill control the mana dorks and keep removal up for the combo pieces. Then random CoCo gets them the win.

Against the CoCo decks, Collective Brutality is honestly quite good. It kills their creature and discards CoCo/Chord at the same time, all in one card. Damn fine value.
