Hey guys, I've been playing chord for a while now and I've been having reasonable success in smaller events. I switched from the black splash to the blue a month ago and the deck is much more fun and possibly more powerful. Now I'm going to take it to GP vancouver and I'm curious what you think of this build. I've gone a little bit astray from the norm:
A few cards still seem a little dubious to me: murderous redcap over P&K (i want ftk), obstinate baloth over something like reflector mage or huntmaster, and keranos over revillark. But so far they've been decent. I'm also wondering about the mana base, i have as many blue cards as red yet i still have a mountain. Thoughts?
Things that work really well are the single evo, the magus, and the tireless tracker.
Hoogland posted some paper testing with a blue splash deck the other day. I goldfished it a bit on tapped out as well and it's pretty solid. I would look to his list and youtube videos to see some more testing with a similar list. I really liked it in my minimal experience with it.
Oh wow, we arrived at similar lists. Thanks for mentioning that. I tried Glen elendra and didn't like it, I never wanted it except against living end where I was winning anyways.
I love the inferno titan, the hierarch, and the queller too
Looks like Hoogland is back on the Nahiri train. Not sure if it's a 4 of with emmy though. *Edit* definitely playing emmy. Probably expecting a lot of grindy decks right now.
Last I saw he mentioned something along the lines of a 4/2/2 split of Chord/Evo/Nahiri, I believe it was on Twitter but I might be wrong, I didn't actually see a stream with it. The streams I've watched recently with the Spell Queller/Glen Elendra lists seem to be rather solid against the deck's traditionally weak match ups. Unfortunately I haven't had much time to play lately but I'm going to try similar lists out next time I can make a tournament, at the very least the deck is always fun to play.
Nahiri still does a lot of work in the deck I think, so running a couple seems workable, even without the Emrakul line.
He was playing wall of roots and the nahiri combo in it at the SCG open. The team didn't make day 2 though, so he'll likely post the list today or so.
Was he running the full Nahiri/Emrakul combo? I'm curious about the list, yeah. I've had really up and down experiences with the different Chord lists, I wouldn't mind trying something different to see if my results improve a little.
Last time he ran Nahiri he was using 7 1 drop mana dorks. Seems to work with having ekstra mana for quellers. Those lists also ran 2 wall or roots to turbo out nahiri and sett up a protect the queen type strategy.

I have dyslexia, no I am not going to spell check for you, yes you have to live with the horrors of it.

I don't think he ever ran more than 5 1CMC dorks that I remember. Definitely saw atleast 1x Wall of Roots on stream.
Ah okay, the return of the Nahiri combo is interesting. That configuration is what I had the best and worst results with when I played. 5-0'd the first time I used it, then had a few 2-X stumbles and quite a few bland 3-X performances. It is rather fun to see how people adjust to the Nahiri plan if they've seen Emrakul, or suspect it.
Definativly on the protect the queen train. 4 Birds, 2 Hiarch (so blue is easy to get) and am I seing this right, 4 wall of roots? 10 manadorks and 23 lands for maximum queen advantage. In that's manabase defense those 4 nahiri and 1 courser will keep the spells flodding in. That Myr seems pretty big.

As stated previously i was flipping between this and Abzan Evolution. I won byes with this list almost the same and knew i would regret not playing kiki chord in a big GP. I beat esper control, junk, Mardu removal, drew with bant eldrazi and lost to blue moon, jund, BG elves. I think the deck was alright but there a re a few issues i found with the meta and the deck. My birds were constantly being removed and my red lands were being hit with land removal. This was splash damage from all the eldrazitron and rg tron hate. However, that made so many hands very awkward. I think kiki chord is in a tough spot right now. There is tons more interaction. (which is good). Before my list was great because it accelerated towards a bullet with out caring for interacting much because the meta was non-interactive for the most part. Now i feel that the greedy manabase is very much punished. Going back to Nahiri with Emmy may be the way to go but i think that a heavier blue or black splash is needed which puts more pressure on the mana. Happy to hear how others went with the deck. I am going to work on abazan evolution for a while. I feel that those colors are really well situated at the moment. I will also keep an eye on how this deck progresses. gl to all cheers
My Labyrinth Kiki chord has been winning consistantly.
