I personally run lingering souls instead of pact rat. Great card to drop to lili or smallpox if you play it, it works wonder with bridge too. Shambling vents also quite good, like esperino said, having mainboard life gain is great.
Shambling Vent is a neat idea. I just loath etb tapped lands with such a passion. I suppose its worth trying. I could def see swapping the rats for lingering souls but it doesn't seem like a huge upgrade tbh, just personal preference.
Long time lurker of this forum and thread. I've been playing 8 rack at FNM's for about 2 months and took my list to my first PPTQ. I did get top 8 and lost to Jund in the first round. After playing (And beating) Zooicide, Merfolk, Bant Eldrazi, Grixis Delver, agreeing to a draw and losing to Dredge.
My list is splashed with red and I personally think the number 1 card gamed from it was grim lavamancer. Every time I brought it in from my sideboard it was a work horse at keeping my opponents board clear. I personally am going to play more with splashing red because I feel it helps me (personally) maximize 8 rack.

Could you please tell us your list? What red cards do you play besides Grim Lavamancer?
Sorry I'm not sure how to post a deck list the "right" way I'm kinda still figuring things out. Here's my current list and I'm still changing things around with it. I only have 3 Lilianas because money but I will be getting a 4th.
The rack x4
Shrieking Affliction x4
Terminate x2
Ensnaring bridge x4
Pack rat x4
Thought seize x4
Inquisition of Kozilek x4
Raven's Crime x4
Wrench Mind x3
Liliana of the veil x3
Lightning Bolt x4

Although it just occurred to me that I don't know if we can specify specific printings for cards within the context of a decklist. Within regular card tags, that's accomplished by appending a pipe and the set name immediately after the card name like so:
Hey guys. This is a budget 8 rack deck that i made. I posted this on the budget thread but i don't know if it's still active so i reposted it here. Just wanted your expert opinion on this since i'm fairly new to magic
Long time lurker here: I play a sort of budget version myself (I have one Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth), and I can safely say that 4 Ghost Quarters are too many. Reduce them down to two, because you will definitely have mana problems. You have too many lands that enter tapped too. I'd suggest cutting at least one Bojuka Bog. Although how you alter these lands depends on your meta too. I'm not sure about the rest, you'll have to wait what the others say, because I never played with the pox version.

Modern Budget discussion is not allowed in deck threads outside of the Budget subforum. The forum rules are very clear on this point; consider this a verbal warning instead of a more formal warning/infraction.
I've been playtesting the new cards from EMN and seems like the best card by far is Collective brutality. I'm going to try 4 Collective Brutality 4 Smallpox and 3 Wrench Mind. In a Bridgeless main deck configuration. Asylum Visitor is our best addition from Shadows Over Innistrad, but with smallpox build you can't discard her and cast it vía madness because you will be forced to sacrifice it afterwords.
Here is my Question: If I play smallpox and discard Asylum Visitor, if I want to play the card, I'm able to cast her after Smallpox is resolved? It looks like is a possible way to improve smallpox decks in order to include this power card and make it reliable to avoid the sacrifice.
Thanks and sorry for my english!! I hope I explained myself properly.

madness is put on the stack after smallpox resolves, obstinate baloth works different because its a replacement effect while madness is a triggered
i played with 4 brutality main in a bridgeless version and while i liked it a lot i decided to move 2 to the sideboard. i still want to have acces to 4 of them since it singlehandedly destroys some decks, but when its just fine it realy doesnt get better in multiples
Thnx for the advise. Sorry for posting about a budget version. The budget subforum was a bit inactive so i tried asking here. Anyway, ive been liking Collective Brutality a lot. Though i feel it's better early game. Also, which would you guys prefer to play, Asylum Visitor or Lupine Prototype?
With both players holding cards in their hands Asylum Visitor can still be of use. Lupine Prototype will just be sitting there, looking pretty.
With one or both players hellbent Lupine Prototype can attack/block as a 5/5.
Asylum Visitor can do the same, just not as good. But by then he's also card advantage, the only one we've got.
visitor its better maindeck because its more reliable while prototype its a sideboard card because its not but it can be, and when it is its greeeeat. i want 4 against affinity and burn, because they empty their hand very fast, but so can we with the high density of cheap spells and collective brutality
Thoughts on Rest in Peace in the white splash? The card is obviously nuts against certain decks but with lingering and especially raven's crime, graveyard really useful to us; it's also quite nonbo with Extirpate.

I am very confused by this statement. How is it the only card advantage we have? A lot of 8Rack's effects are the very definition of card advantage. Liliana? One of the best cards in Magic, card advantage ranges from beneficial for us to Ancestral Knowledge-levels of value if unchecked for even two turns! Wrench Mind? We use it to simulate Hymn to Tourach, the card given to novices as the single most pure form of card advantage in Magic that isn't Power. Asylum Visitor is a draw engine, which most of the time is synonymous to providing card advantage, but the two terms are in fact different.

A huge body doesn't do anything against Burn. Even if you have it down turn 2, it won't block. If it can, they won't attack. It doesn't prevent the burn damage they topdeck. It's not a clock, too - you swing for 5... they take it and kill you through the tapped "blocker". It's absolutely useless even in it's best-case scenario.

It's the second most important reason to be in white other than Stony Silence. You get some nonbos but you automatically win against a wide variety of things, including Modern's new best deck - Dredge.
prototype its not bad against burn. you dont want to play it turn 2, maybe if your on the play with collective brutality in order to attack turn 3 and you ran the numbers with the t1 inquisition, then maybe. but its a bad idea to start the race that fast
its not a creature, its an upgraded rack. you play it after discard effects but you also can pump it with funeral charm
not saying its the best card ever or that i cant imagine playing without it, but its very good against decks like affinity/burn

Text that isn't preceded by a number is treated as a header for organizing the decklist. You can name it whatever you want, but I like splitting things up by card type. More info about invoking card/deck tags and creating mana symbols can be found here: http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/community-forums/introduce-yourself/399760-card-deck-and-mana-tags-a-beginners-guide
I've gone ahead and put your decklist in a deck tag for easy reading. You can try to quote my post to see what how it's laid out.
Although it just occurred to me that I don't know if we can specify specific printings for cards within the context of a decklist. Within regular card tags, that's accomplished by appending a pipe and the set name immediately after the card name like so:
Terminate
4 Ghost Quarter
2 Dakmor Salvage
2 Bojuka Bog
14 Swamp
DISCARD
4 Raven's Crime
4 Blackmail
4 Wrench Mind
3 Despise
2 Necrogen Mist
4 Smallpox
4 Collective Brutality
3 Smother
1 Ratchet Bomb
1 Dismember
WIN CON
4 The Rack
4 Shrieking Affliction
4 Lupine Prototype
4 Duress
3 Nihil Spellbomb
3 Doom Blade
1 Bile Blight
Its an 8 rack creatureless pox build with Collective Brutality acting as Smallpox 5-8. Any suggestion is welcomed

Thanks for your answer on the smallpox Asylum Visitor.
May you post your deck??
