Has anyone tried voltaic brawler in place of flinthoof boar?(for those who play small zoo)
Haven't tried yet, but my list has 2x Rancor and 2x GCR, so I'd rather have haste than trample...
Is it really better than voltaic brawler ? Yes, flinthoof boar is lighter to cast in terms of color and it is a turn faster. But IMHO, it is like a boggart ram-gang without wither.
I feel like the fact that the boar has two modes is a nontrivial advantage. Also, Rancor makes the hasted version better. This being said, I also think it's definitely the weakest card in my 60 and I've been considering replacements -- but I'm not sure the Brawler is it. I almost feel like Loam Lion or something else that makes non-BTE hands a bit more explosive might be better.
The new guys in this are Tamiyo, Field Researcher and Loxodon Smiter . They replaced Arlinn Kord and Knight of the Reliquary , who weren’t really doing it for me. Arlinn Kord just wasn’t that all that strong against anything, and Knight of the Reliquary just felt a bit slow and wasn’t always that big (and I don’t really play any utility lands so she wasn’t an awesome tutor for me). Loxodon Smiter , on the other hand, is a nice big blocker against aggro (can trade with Thought-Knot Seer too) and can’t be countered by control decks. Also, I’ve dropped him for free on a lot of occasions against Jund style decks.
Tamiyo, Field Researcher has been an absolute all-star. She’s been fantastic in just about every match up, but she definitely shines the most against grindy decks. Drawing cards by attacking with my own guys, or with Jund players’ Tarmogoyf s and stuff, is pretty great. Against aggressive decks, she’s a little bit slow certainly because she costs four mana. That being said, being able to tap down an aggressive deck’s creatures for essentially three turns is great, since I too am an aggressive deck and that should be plenty of time to have won.
So anyway, now that I’ve gushed a bit about Tamiyo, here are some matchups that I’ve been dealing with a lot on MTGO.
Dredge:
Dredge is pretty obnoxious, it’s a really strong deck now which is pretty cool. Game one usually comes down to how crazy their start is. I guess my best hands against them consist of two creatures, two lands and three removal spells ( Tamiyo, Field Researcher s included). I guess. I don’t really know, I guess, but that usually feels good. Scavenging Ooze is cool to have, but when they have an explosive hand (graveyard) he’s just a bit too slow. I usually go for Conflagrate, then Bloodghast, then Prized Amalgam when they have a full graveyard. If I happen to be going first and get him out in time to stop the dredging, then that’s cool too, but it hasn’t come up for me yet.
From the sideboard, I bring in the fourth Path to Exile and both Grafdigger’s Cage s. I think mulliganing pretty hard until getting a Grafdigger’s Cage might not be a bad idea, though I don’t often go for it. I will send back any less-than-bonkers hand though just in case it comes out, because the Cage plus even a Wild Nacatl is pretty great against them.
Eldrazi:
Man, I still don’t know what to do against these guys. If I win the first game, it’s because I’m on the play and have a nice aggressive start and they have a slow start. Tamiyo, Field Researcher has actually been great against them in these situations, since I can tap down their obnoxiously large creatures when I need to win the game that turn. That being said, usually it feels a bit like a fluke when I win.
I’m open to any and all suggestions for sideboarding. The Supreme Verdicts in the board are brand new and specifically for Eldrazi (obviously I have qualms with wiping the board). I haven’t actually tested with them yet, but it’s my best option right now as far as I’m aware.
Definitely not a good matchup.
Jund:
I’m pretty happy with my matchup against Jund. Geist of Saint Traft is great against them and both planeswalkers pull a lot of weight. If I happen to have the Voice of Resurgence in my hand, I’m very happy. It’s definitely a deck that I have to think about rather hard to win, but as long as I’m not sloppy I feel very confident.
I bring in Keranos, God of Storms and the fourth Path to Exile and take out Lightning Helix and one Rhox War Monk. I should probably just take out both Lightning Helixes, now that I’m thinking about it.
Affinity:
Certainly affinity can have absurd starts, that’ll never change. When they don’t, I feel pretty good about winning the first game. Good amount of removal combined with cheap pressure. The cards I like against burn, I like against affinity as well. It’s tricky playing against Arcbound Ravager, especially when they also have Inkmoth Nexus on the field. I would give this maybe a 50/50 matchup first game in my experience. Bant Charm and Qasali Pridemage are pretty nice to have in the mainboard, certainly. Cranial Plating is pretty annoying, especially on a Vault Skirge.
Sideboard is pretty obvious here too. Ancient Grudge and Stony Silence are pretty backbreaking for them, and I also bring in the fourth Path to Exile here too. Elspeth, Knight-Errant isn’t fantastic here because of their little chump blockers with flying like Ornithopter, though Tamiyo, Field Researcher is fine. I also take out Voice of Resurgence here.
There are definitely other decks that come up, but this post is already probably a bit too long, sorry about that. If anyone has any questions about a particular matchup defs reply and I can talk about it if I’ve played against it. The deck is really cool
I looked at this deck and thought that the two plans don't mesh well. This seems like some odd combination of the more traditional Gruul Land Loss, Big Zoo, and RW Nahiri shells that sacrifices resilience in order to combine multiple gameplans and this just doesn't look like it's going to work well.
I've seen lists with anywhere between 0 and 4, but I also think 2 is correct. I run 2 GCR/2 Rancor/2 Mutagenic as a pseudo-removal/evasion/bolt protection suite and it mostly works fine.
hey guys! So I'm new to Zoo and I was wondering how many, if any, Ghor-Clan Rampagers would you run in Bushwacker Zoo?
I really like Ghor-Clan. I think it's one onf the best pump "spells" zoo have access, cause it does everything the deck wants. It can helps you in a race against other aggro, as a removal for big dudes without losing the combat damage and as a creature if things get tough. In my build, I use 4 and I think it works great. (It became a recurring joke around here among friends, since I always have it in my hand when they try to assign blockers assuming I don't)
I do not think bushwaker zoo need a 4-of, though, because the deck it's already too explosive, and its plan is to go "wider" fast enough. A Mutagenic/Rancor combination seems to work better for that strategy. GCR is also not that great in a metagame full of control or infect/death's shadow.
Did this deck die. I mean seems we used to be in the top 5 threads at top with all types of posts. I went 4-0 last night with whacker. Deck is still good ran some valorous stances in side for kslitas and reality smasher. I want thev trample from rancor but blossoming defense saved me twice in a jund match up
Guys please opinions on japanese cards. Lost a 3/3 creature against Japan celestial colonade. This guy played all creatures and spells in english cards, but some cards in his manabase was japanese. I dont registrated this really ( my brain say its all fine and all english to me lets attack his empty board)...and i am sure it is a Kind of legal cheating. It is not ok, but i know legal. I Hate such people. I never forget colonade normally, but with this Tricks it can happen one time in 3 years and such people take advantage of this
If I am a customer spending premium amount of dollars, I expect a premium service. Jund falls into the category of a premium deck costing more dollars than a majority of the rest of the format. I'm not getting the desired performance ratio per dollars spent out of the Jund deck because WOTC decided to make the format more diverse.

Deck isn't Dead just really awkwardly positioned. Plus most of the people going all in have switched to Death's shadow zoo in my area. Blossoming Defense is one heck of a card... to play against.
T8 of SCG Milwaukee included a bushwhacker zoo list. I think his list needs to shave a bushwhacker and I'm not a fan of the Dryad Arbor as the 18th land (as the 19th I can see), but otherwise I think his build is positioned pretty well given a reasonable amount of Jund and Dredged expected in the meta - Goyf helps you keep punching through in both matchups. I'm not a fan of the SB though.

Is the destructive force a troll card or a typo? I don't even know what to think of it.

Burn:
I feel very confident against burn. Lightning Helix and Rhox War Monk are obviously strong mainboard against them, but the big dumb fatties like Tarmogoyf and Loxodon Smiter are nice for blocking and attacking too. I’m usually happier when they have a lot of creatures like Goblin Guide and Wild Nacatl, because I can block them and have removal. I don’t have quite as much to interact with Lava Spikes and Boros Charms, so I hopefully have any of my life-gain guys.
I bring in Kor Firewalker and Qasali Pridemage for another way to deal with Eidolon of the Great Revel. If I’m on the draw I’ll take out one Tamiyo, Field Researcher, one Loxodon Smiter and the Voice of Resurgence.
Affinity:
Certainly affinity can have absurd starts, that’ll never change. When they don’t, I feel pretty good about winning the first game. Good amount of removal combined with cheap pressure. #The deck seems rather creative but I would probably cut the Tireless Tracker (too vulnerable) for something like Knight of the Reliquary (can find Kessig Wolf Run or any other utility land).
#The Dragonlords seem rather ambitious/win-more and I would just use 4x Stormbreath Dragon instead (Thundermaw Hellkite might also be an option).
Here is my idea for a tweaked list:
4x Arbor Elf
2x Birds of Paradise
4x Loxodon Smiter
3x Knight of the Reliquary
4x Thunderbreak Regent
4x Stormbreath Dragon
1x Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
Instant (8)
4x Lightning Bolt
4x Path to Exile
Enchantment (4)
4x Utopia Sprawl
4x Nahiri, the Harbinger
Lands (22)
1x Kessig Wolf Run
4x Windswept Heath
4x Wooded Foothills
3x Stomping Ground
2x Temple Garden
1x Sacred Foundry
4x Forest
2x Mountain
1x Plains
2x Rest in Peace
2x Stony Silence
3x Anger of the Gods
2x Fulminator Mage
2x Loxodon Hierarch
2x Destructive Revelry
1x Thrun, the Last Troll
1x Pia and Kiran Nalaar
What do you think ?

3 Lightning Bolts... must be a typo
I've always ran 2.
