Now I have a bit of an oddball question here. My favorte card is Butcher of the Horde. It was my prerelease promo (which fell on my birthday, so that was sweet), I played it in Standard before FRF came out, and I just overall really love it. Is it possible to splash it here? I figure with all of the tokens we can reliably give him haste.

Sweet Baby Jesus we could get some card draw... Vampiric Rites
The beauty of this thing - if there's any beauty - is that one can chump, sack, draw and gain life. It's a means of gaining value when a creature is going to get destroyed or exiled anyway. If there's a Modern deck that can take advantage of that, it's probably BW tokens.
Vampiric Rites is literally the only thing from BFZ I'm looking forward to that's not a land. I could see this actually making the 75 in this deck. It seems like it has a lot of potential synergy with this deck , some cool combat tricks, and solves one of the harder problems with the deck being card draws. The life gain could potentially even help in weaker matchups. If not in the mb this seems like a great sb card at the very least.
It is not as good as you would think. I played against it and trounced pretty convincingly. It just cost too much to get out there and they hold up removal anyway so they died when hey hit.

Context? Is this a response to the Butcher question?

I'm going to assume it is. I'm kind of a rogue deckbuilder. I love trying new things in existing existing archetypes. I've considered Magus of the Abyss as an SB option against grindy midrange decks. It probably won't work, but it would be fun to see the look on my opponent's face as I cast it.

wescoe's article is only interesting to me on the meta call he made, and the SB options. i find amazing like he never drops the hero of bladehold, or not even consider auriok for certain MU's. Cant understand the disenchants over sundering if he is not playing liliana. i would also prefer 2 rest in peace+ 1 relic of progenitus for lingering sake. the rest is all meta call, we have to figure it out by our own meta play.
i am currently playing 22 lands. i know there is out there ppl playing 23, 24, and maybe 25. was my choice and i have been doing pretty well. But, wescoe pointed out some real issues on that, because now we have access to Shanmbling vents and Crumble to dust.
Shambling vents: better that windbrisk because adds w\b to our pool, and makes fetid heath obsolete... its a terrible land since it dies to bolt, and cant survive much combat in modern... cant even survive against other major manlands combat but sure will make way into the deck for mana consistency and, why not, a 2\3 lifelink. and because we are going to play it, it seems 22 land deck are no good anymore cuz we need 3 land activation, plus shambling to tap for atack (4 lands). and then, there is the red splash bellow.
Crumble to dust: there's our answer (4 cmc) to tron. SB tho. And for that you need to throw in some sacred foundry's... at the end of the day, maybe we wont need it cuz tron will come out of favour with this card, and many tron players will end up playing something else, like we are seeing a little bit with amulet, but i wouldnt count on that... So the numbers of this card to be played on our sB is still to be seen. but betwen Crumble to dust, gideon, ally of zendikar, and the manland, i guess only the manland and the red splash are viable. This will eventually bring our deck back to 24 land count
What you guys think? its not that im desapointed at all, its just that i will have to scrifice some cards that made Some of my MU's better in my town.
Honestly I don't feel Shambling will have a place in our deck. I run 22 Lands right now and I've never had a problem hitting the mana I needed. However, with Crumble to Dust being printed time will tell how much play it gets and if I need to go up on that. Only reason I can see him playing Disenchant over Sundering Growth is the mana restriction on Sundering.
OVERALL: Gideon, Ally of Zendikar will be replacing Elspeth, Knight-Errant for sure and I'll possibly cut 1 Thoughtseize and 1 Zealous Persecution for 2 Vampiric Rites and test them out. I want a Rites out during a match but I don't want them flooding me. By cutting the 1 Thoughtseize I'll have 7 discard and 2 Liliana. Cutting the 1 ZP I'll have the playset of PtE and a 1 of ZP and I may switch my SB around so I can put back in the Murderous Cut for the lone ZP and put 2 ZP in the SB.

The choice of Disenchant over Growth is the fear of Blood Moon. You are more likely to have one Plains out then two. That's all.
Wescoe completely underestimates the burn matchup, even going so far as suggesting to cut the 4 Timelys in the 75. The third gy hate that I have enjoyed has been Surgical Extraction as a way of interacting with Griselbrand, but having random ability to hose other graveyard strategies. Relic might do the same, but forces you to play scared and leave a mana untapped in some situations. Exiling all of Amulet's Titans or Summoner's Pacts has been pretty great.

One of these day I have to get myself organizized.
Timely Reinforcement will benefit from us having Vampiric Rites if we have the mana to do so. I almost always am able to gain the life, but I usually miss the creatures by 1 or 2. Burn is disgusting.
Hey guys. Going to my first local modern tourney. This is my decklist so far that I've been testing. I know I need another Liliana, Im currently trying to get one. I'm also slowly getting the marsh flats that i need so thats what the 4 fetches are there for until that happens.
After playtesting against tron and living twin, I have to say those 2 match ups are extremely difficult for me. I'm really wanting to try Brimaz in the space for Timely reinforcements, anyone run brimaz mainboard? Also, I hate not having any draw help in the deck. Anyone run any draw cards in their deck such as Night's whisper or altar's reap ?
As of right now I don't have a sideboard but im slowly working up the pieces. Any advise for my bad match ups in the board?
My thoughts were this...
...?
I'm going into an unknown meta so I have no clue what to expect. Haven't ever really played modern competitively before just been watching a lot of scg tourney's on twitch to try to help me understand all the top decks out there.

RE draw cards, I currently run a couple Phyrexian Arena. In the past I've tested Altar's Reap and didn't like it, but that was pre-Bitterblossom unban. With 4 Blossoms it actually doesn't seem half bad (and would be another pull in a reformulated lower CMC direction).
And yeah, GR Tron is probably our worst matchup. And Living Twin is one of my least favorite decks to play against just because it attacks from so many angles (and Living End is already pretty decent vs. tokens preboard anyway).
Well at least I'm not the only one who thought about altars reap lol and it just sucks because my best friends have modern decks but they have to be my worst match ups lol
Ghostly prisons are mainly a concession to the merfolk MU, because I wanted another hose card pretty badly. It also comes in against coco elves which is pretty nice. Also Naya zoo lists have been on the rise lately and I expected a good deal of that this weekend so I upped my normal 1 to 2.
Seems reasonable. Beating Tron isn't impossible to win, but you gotta be lucky. Anything interesting about the match besides you crushing 'em?
Are you bring Prison in against Twin as well? Not having Auriok Champion in that matchup would be rather tricky.
Edit: I went 2-3 in a modern IQ on Saturday. Nothing fancy to report really besides Elspeth Tirel against Lantern lol.
Round 1, mulliganed to five both games against Burn. Proceed to lose with lethal on board. Round 2, lost to Lantern, I punted game one with a Liliana activation and game 2, he hit a Pithing Needle off of Ancient Stirrings the turn before I could ultimate Elspeth Tirel. Engineered Explosives would have helped, but I had to shuffle it away. Beat mono blue Ninja Bear Delver and some real deck only to lose to Tron. Got game 2 off of Stony Silence then mulled to five in game 3.

Can't wait to hear what you played against.
More specifically, which matchups are the Ghostly Prisons for? (Guessing Merfolk, but it seems like there's got to be there for more than that.)
Esper mill 2-1
Naya burn 2-1
RG tron 2-0 (I know right?!?!)
Suicide zoo 2-1
Grixis splashing lingering souls 2-1
Naya burn 2-1
Top 8
Lost to emeria control 1-2 off a major punt.
