I was just using Trinisphere as an example of why mana restriction isn't great against Storm like you'd think; I meant Thorn hurts us (besides Growth we have Rancor and Vines, which are very important for us).
That being said, if I were to splash out would be white for loxodon smiter, fleecemane lion, possibly Sigarda as well as sideboard options like silence and leyline.

At been looking at mono-G options, and ideas, and came with the following for now:
Sideboard options:
Thorn of Amethyst (2, Artifact, Noncreature spells cost 1 more to cast) Guttural Response (G/R, Instant, Counter target blue instant spell) Dolmen Gate (2, Artifact, Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt to attacking creatures you control) Bow of Nylea (1 GG, Legendary Enchantment Artifact ,Attacking creatures you control have deathtouch.
1G, Tap: Choose one — Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature; or Bow of Nylea deals 2 damage to target creature with flying; or you gain 3 life; or put up to four target cards from your graveyard on the bottom of your library in any order ) Tower Defense - (1G, Instant, Creatures you control get +0/+5 and gain reach until end of turn)

On a budget, GW would be the way to go, but it'd be a different deck, and considerably more expensive. It may not seem like it, but Stompy and GW Aggro/Midrange are very different decks. Also, don't forget monogreen lets us play Geist, Companion, Tusker, and Baloth; these are not insignificant reasons to stay monogreen.
Dolmen Gate is certainly interesting. Not sure it's necessary, but interesting. I've thought about 1x Bow sideboard. Could be good for longer games.
Too bad there isn't a mass land destruction we could use

Be a lemming hunter. Don't be a lemming. Really, all you had to do was explain to him the popularity metric, not give him the lemming hunter manifesto...
I have also played Gw stompy type deck in the past when I get home from work, so I am not on my phone, I can give a breakdown of the many pros AND cons it offers.
Yeah, been testing over this week on MTGO and must say, its ok against fair decks, but when you go against things like Amulet of Vigor that puts a Titan with flying and vigilance on turn 2, or Tron, or even that Forgemaster jinty deck from Woo, its near impossible to do anything... The crazy combos just walk over this. I feel it can trade blows very well, but not play the dirty game that's needed...
When flashy combo decks get optimal draws, there really isn't much you can do about it. Decks like this trade off the potential for explosive glass-cannon combos with consistency. The reason the Tier 1 decks are Tier 1 is because they have the possibility of unloading fast combo wins, but can also win consistently via the "fair" game.
This deck has a lot of tools to disrupt other decks. Look at the lists that are giving you trouble, then look at each card in this deck, read it carefully, and see if it has applications that could give that deck headaches.

“Modern has provided us a non-rotating format that is far more accessible than Legacy or Vintage, but still retains many of the qualities that people enjoy in those formats—such as a more stable metagame, the ability to play and tweak the same deck week after week, and simply a much more powerful card pool than Standard.”

As promised Here is my shot at Gw deck with analysis, that still stays as true to green stompy as possible.
OK, So splashing can do a lot of god and bad things to this deck.
Pros: By splashing especially white we can add a bit more utility in some of our main deck slots but much more importantly it adds a much bigger threat to our sideboard (specifics will be given later.)
Cons: The number one con for budget is that it increases the cost of the deck significantly. Some other reasons I would lean against it is that there is a possibility that lands like Sunpetal Grove could come into play tapped early games which hurts our aggression pretty badly. Another is that one of the reasons we can beat many aggresive decks is that we don't take any damage from our lands like so many other decks but playing lands like Brushland or Temple Garden could put us behind on the clock before we start. Lastly is that the Mono green version makes cards such as Blood Moon, Ghost Quarter, and Tectonic Edge worthless, where as when splashed for mana blood moon can single handedly give our opponent the match.
That being said here is my deck list with reasons for each card after.
Fleecemane Lion: Same slot as Kalonian Tusker With possibility of being a better Thrun, The Last Troll late game. Loxodon Smiter: One less Toughness when compared to Leatherback Baloth with counter and discard hate, this pick is Meta dependent. Wilt-Leaf Liege: since we have a Replacement for Thrun, this double pumps many of our guys making experiment one get even more insane, and also more discard hate (take that Liliana) Sigarda, Host of Herons Hates on Sacrifice, gets big with board pumps and mostly a big body with evasion. Honor of the Pure Now that most of your creatures have some white, this pumps them up and since it is a global ability pumps up experiment one more.
The sideboard should be fairly straight forward, there are many more cards you can chose from based on your meta and playtesting.
Note: Many people will bring up many cards i left out since they don't fit the stompy face like Thalia etc... The one i will clarify is why I left out Path to Exile, Yes it is one of if not the best creature removal cards in the format BUT the strength of this deck is being able to put out the best possible creatures for the mana investment, when you give your opponent mana acceleration you give them the advantage of sorts in that area possibly being able to drop bigger badder creatures faster than you.
Looks nice! I don't like Honor of the Pure, though, and mixed feelings on Sigarda. Monstrous Fleecemane + Prey Upon would rarely happen but would be awesome when it does. Would make me want to try out Ulvenwald Tracker. Leyline is definitely not budget.
The way I see it, after playing it, removal is not much of an issue. Protection from mass removal is.

Nylea, God of the Hunt
Polukranos, World Eater
I like the bow, just not enough to cut anything for it, but tower defense could definitely be a good answer to board wipes.
