"You can definitely always predict emotions and intent from text"
This is obviously sarcasm but you prove my point. You CANT interpret emotion or intent. So then why be sarcastic? Being sarcastic in text is so easily seen as condescending precisely because you CANT interpret emotion and intent.
And you even further prove my point by talking about ceaseless hunger. It doesnt matter what his insight is it matter how you react to his advice whether its bad or not. Sarcasm CAN and WILL be interpreted as condescending. You can agree as much as you want with him but youre wrong. Sarcasm has no place here where no one knows you, your intent or your emotion. It WILL be seen as condescending and rightfully so. Whwn someone asks for advice your useless sarcastic comments arent needed and dont advance the conversation.

Um. You realize that I was being sarcastic right. Like... Sigh. Dude you just destroyed your own argument here. I really do not know what to say man. Here I am half snickering and half perplexed at what you've done to yourself. You have literally next lvled yourself. Congratulations.
It costs 4 - which we really don't like in this deck.
It has less devotion than Leatherback.
Unless we're playing Fight cards its trigger is unlikely to be terribly relevant. (He is more viable in Dromoka's Command decks than most builds we've run).
We've already rejected 5/5s (Polukranos, World Eater, Deadbridge Goliath) and 5/4s (Surrak, the Hunt Caller) at that exact mana cost. I don't see how this would be any better than any of those.
IF we are to play a 4-drop, I think Thrun, The Last Troll is still the king. Though I do keep trying to find Surrak a home (in a deck like this he usually grants haste to himself the turn he lands and haste to every fatty that comes after him too), it never works out.
(I do agree with the ideal of trying to talk about anything else and steer this trainwreck back towards deck construction. I just don't think Ripjaw is it unless we're going a full fight+dino package. On its own, if we're not building to exploit its trigger, it's worse than other options at that cost, most of which are rejected for being that cost anyway. If Rivals brings more low-cost Dino enablers I could see Ripjaw and Imperiosaur being the top end of a Dino midrange stompy approach - but the pieces aren't there yet).
Oh you got me there. I didn't read the 2nd half of your post since honestly, you are massively incoherent and constantly contradict yourself and again you thought Yisan should be considered.
"You CANT interpret emotion or intent. So then why be sarcastic? Being sarcastic in text is so easily seen as condescending precisely because you CANT interpret emotion and intent."
You agree you cannot interpret anything but then you say it can be interpreted as condescending. Look! a contradiction that destroys your own argument. It seems to elude you that sarcasm and condescension has to be intended or interpreted. If you cannot find intent and it is not right to interpret his text as sarcastic/condescending how it "easily seen" that way.
"And you even further prove my point by talking about ceaseless hunger. It doesnt matter what his insight is it matter how you react to his advice whether its bad or not. Sarcasm CAN and WILL be interpreted as condescending. You can agree as much as you want with him but youre wrong. Sarcasm has no place here where no one knows you, your intent or your emotion. So again you agree with the notion that you cannot interpret emotion or intent from text but then cite you will interpret it as condescending. Then you ramble some incoherent nonsense about how much more wrong you are. It's like you continue to say something but you don't understand you are contradicting yourself.
Also you really like to use the word literally so I kind of feel you are the type of person to watch Leafy videos on youtube which means you are probably 12. It makes sense that you cannot type coherent arguments I guess. Really. Sarcasm isn't the enemy. Perhaps it's not used well in this context but it offers some nice range in humor when used correctly. Do not fret young gun, you will cognitively develop the ability to interpret fine humor one day- maybe not. In the mean time, lay off those Leafy videos and don't play Yisan in this deck!
I am quite disappointed in myself though. I bamboozled myself pretty hard but I can take solace that I will not be playing Yisan.
Edit: also bring on the warning mods. I skimmed through half the posts in the last 2 pages of this thread. Nothing hurts me anymore.
Let me break this down for you since you clearly lack the mind to understand these things. Sarcasm as defined as the use of irony to mock or convey contempt.
Contempt by definition is the feeling that a person or thing is beneath you or worthless.
This is synonymous with condescending as condescending as defined is having the feeling of superiority.
So when you use a literary device which is used to mock or convey contempt it proves to others that you have feelings of superiority as you attempt to denote someone elses inferiority through the use of such a device.
Try to follow along. I can tell youve never had any type of formal debate nor have any experience in applying critical thinking skills.
There is no interpretation of such sarcastic remarks. You simply need to kmow the definition of these literary devices to find what a person is attempting to do. Though i dont expect you to know any of that.
Secondly i never suggested Yisan. I asked for opinions on it. There is a difference but i dont expect you to understand that difference because again your thinking skills are sub par.
You dont pay attention to language usage, details nor do you have the thinking skills needed to discern the underlying implication when someone uses sarcasm or sarcastic statements. Again you lose and again you have reached that unreachable level no one has ever thought possible.
Okay. You have "literally" used dictionary definitions of these words. But. But but but, you have actually provided a decent argument this time but it really hinges that these words are black and white definitions based on an online dictionary search. Life isn't an online dictionary search. Go outside and meet people, find out whether or not they are actually bad people rather than internet arm chair judge them. But I am impressed though. You have provided an argument to follow and it's not bad. Congratulacions!
Here is something to consider: Words or Language are mere tools we use to communicate. Their meaning changes over time based on what's useful.
Sarcasm is a literary device to convey irony to mock people. That sounds right. But it is very commonly used for jovial humor by the same mechanism except with different intentions. You seem to be unable to define sarcasm in this context without the malicious contempt but it can and does exist without it. You are interpreting this definition of sarcasm- something you agreed you could not do. Sarcasm exists without the intent to express contempt. Is it possible for him to be jovial? Perhaps unlikely, but not impossible. He says this is how he communicates then you just kind of take it as is. And you can reference his previous post which perhaps was condescending but you are still interpreting this contempt.
We already agreed you cannot interpret emotions or intent from text. He could have been condescending or jovial. It really doesn't matter.
But EY YOOOOOO you actually "asked for opinions" on Yisan.
Also since you really love to google definitions.
"Secondly i never suggested Yisan. I asked for opinions on it. "
Suggest by definition is to put something forward for consideration.
It kind of sounds like you were asking our consideration or opinions on it. But I don't know anything about that.
Leaving this thread for a long while. I apologize to anyone actually trying to discuss this deck even though I don't think there's much to discuss right now. Have fun with your cardboard yall. Infraction issued for flaming. --CavalryWolfPack

Hmm, well I was just trying to steer the conversation back on topic because the thread is starting to look like 4chan.
Anyway, as for other Ixalan cards.. I think there's not much more to discuss.
Dude this is the last thing ill say about this. You are wrong.
Suggest is to put forward for consideration. I simply asked what people thought of the card not if people ever considered using the card or if they would use the card. Again two totally different things.
and on your second point. i will reiterate the facts. Through text you cannot discern someones intention or emotion. Therefore when you see sarcasm you take it for what it is. Through text, unless I know the guy which i dont, it IS ONLY black and white. which in this case is pure sarcasm or a means to convey contempt and to mock. It is not up to me to find out what the guys real intentions are or if hes friendly, nice, fun, or whatever. Simply hes being sarcastic (which I dont find funny primarily because i DO NOT KNOW HIM.). If i ask a question and I have no idea who you are dont answer it in a sarcastic manner. this goes for real life interactions or on the computer or through texts or whatever. When strangers ask you something go ahead be a sarcastic a** see how that goes for you. It is you who doesnt know how to interact with others and be respectful. Im done talking to you my man you have a long way to go in this world.
i apologize to others here and if mods see it fit to ban me so be it. I for one am so tired of this community filled with condescending a**holes that believe the best way to communicate with people is to act superior to them. Especially when someone is innocently seeking opinions of others and posing no threats nor disrespect. This type of behavior is what keeps mtg down and really hurts our community from flourishing in ways that it could. It is seen on forums, in shops, at tournaments and everywhere magic is seen. Act like respectful human beings and stop believing others are inferior to you regardless if they have good ideas or not.

Thank the heavens that's over with.
I have a question: have people played with Horizon Canopy often? How many copies are seen as optimal? I myself use 1 in a classic aspect build with 2 Treetops/18 Forests.
Have used Horizon Canopies a lot in the past year. Would have to say that one is ok, and two maximum.
They are helpful as cantrips.. so I tried using three... however, having two in opening seven is a mulligan - so I went back to two.
It's sort of a mystery to me on why certain decks like Bogles can play a full set of canopies.. maybe because they have so much lifegain in thei main deck?
___________________
Hmm, have forgot.. there is one more Ixalan card I'm curious about. Has anyone tried Shaper's Sanctuary as sideboard card vs. removal heavy decks?
My view on the lands:
Any nonforests (except fetches) is trouble if running Dungrove Elder
I still don't think Horizon Canopy is worth it in monogreen. Great fixing if you're in whitesplash though.
I do love Hashep Oasis in the role of 'a land that gets you value once you don't need lands anymore'.
Not worth the impact its negatives make on your deck. For the overall success of the deck, the benefits of it (being able to cash it in for one card once it's no longer needed) outweigh the costs of using it (being nonforest/nonbasic, always costing you a life for mana), if you don't benefit from the white fixing (if you're running Dromoka's Commands and Path to Exiles it's clearly great).
Not a money evaluation; even if you owned a playset already and were looking for a deck to put them in, I wouldn't use them in monogreen stompy over Hashep Oasis (costs you life for green but can provide colorless at no lifeloss), which itself I debate whether it is preferable to Forest.
They both provide green mana for lifeloss and both can 'cash themselves out' once you reach the point in the game that you have the mana and tempo to cash them in., at which point the near-sure-thing of 3 damage (pop Oasis on your trampler) is more likely to be the last bit of reach you need than hoping one additional draw gets you what you need and you have the mana to realize it.
amicdeep, I think you're on a mission to chop down all the forests . So took a look at your newest list, I'm not a big fan of going with yet another pain land in the oasis. With the 2x shock lands, a heap of fetch lands, and 2 canopy with 8x GG cards in deck this feels greedy to add another. Moreso I don't see how its so good considering it basically costs 4 mana and is at sorcery speed, thus tapping you out and not a combat trick. Definately good for budget, not sure I see it in the G/W build, or at least max 2 of canopy/oasis. Also you only really have 2 reliable lifegain cards in 75.
Also see you added card breakdown for the W/G and started matchup breakdown. That's very nice, I would actually suggest what would help a lot is some breakdown on turn plays (considering mana available) and when/how to use the instants, especially dromoka's considering its 2CC cost. Btw, sad to report you can't use gaddock teeg to stop walking ballista as its a creature and teeg only stops non-creatures
if you're out to stop the counters company combo with ballista you can use Harsh Mentor if you're GR splashed, Linvala if you're GW splashed. If you're mono green, u better have a dismember for one of the combo pieces.
