Ah yes, the land, I totally forgot. I actually don't think that it's that good of a card for us. I think the first half is incredibly slow, and you won't fill up your graveyard fast enough. Even when you do, you get to what, Anticipate for 3 mana each turn? While that's certainly a powerful effect, our deck has lots of cards to generate card advantage. Basically, I don't see the cost to potential value as a high enough reward.
I feel like the land side is going to be more potent than most people realize, I'm just trying to find the deck that will use it best. A 2-of at max.
Regardless and to another point: when We first started playing modern (circa 2013) the guy I share a collection with played UW Tron and it looks like the deck hasn't really changed much.
Anyway, we are thinking it's a good time to revisit the deck (and I'm getting oh so bored playing Esper Draw-Go), so I thought I'd look into it.
What exactly is the logic behind Chalice of the Void? And not playing the full set of PtE?
Typically this deck does not run chalice and plays 4 paths. A recent deck list was posted with chalices, but that was the poster's own brew. Perhaps it is a concession to the death shadow meta. I welcome him or her to elaborate! I'll post my own deck list in a couple days after I'm done tinkering.
As promised (though a bit late, sorry!), here is my current UW Tron Gift deck. The big stand out in the main is Gideon, which serves as a good beater-finisher, and token maker. My meta is very jund-heavy, and so he comes in handy against Liliana. He also makes for interesting gifts piles because most people (at least at FNM's I attend) tend to freak out when they see Gideon and won't let you have him, allowing you to get the other cards you really want. You might also notice I like playing with Haven and Ugin. This is just a personal preference, I'm sure other iterations are just as good. I just enjoy gifting for Ugin when I have Haven in hand.
Sideboard explanations: Timely is for burn and aggro. Blessed alliance is also for burn and aggro. But can be handy against infect or boggles. Purge is my favourite sideboard card. Kills Lili's, blood moons, hunt master's, and anything else red/black, which is a huge chunk of modern. Ghostly Prison is a card I'm just trying out, I'll have other cards like ceremonious rejection, Terastodon, Bribery, or a Thought-Knot Seer in there from time to time to. Other SB cards seem self-explanatory.
Very open to answering questions or discussing the deck. I've been playing Gifts Tron almost exclusively since 2014.
@kodieyost: all is dust is not worth playing in this deck. We have at least 3 wrath effects and spot removal and don't need. I'd test the cheaper and recent settle the wreckage if you're looking for a fourth wrath. Ugin and cyclonic rift also could work.
Against grindier matchups like junk or jund emrakul can win often. With faster decks, its way more rare to be able to cast her. The real power of having emrakul is a graveyard-into-deck shuffler and, as darksteel has explained many times in this thread, emrakul is part of the chaining gifts sequence, where you gifts for gifts, emrakul, sphinxs' rev, and X (this is stronger once you have tron because then casting emrakul is a threat).
It really depends on the matchup for whether Emrakul is good or not. Emrakul is good against slower blue decks that are going to be elongated games, like UW or UWR Control. In those matchups, it'll shine because it bypasses all their removal and counters. It's obviously insanely awful against fast decks. Like the user above reminded, Emrakul can be used to shuffle your graveyard. There's the obvious case of the Gifts package, which I believe the primer does mention. Certain matchups actually make Emrakul good just for the graveyard shuffle, like mill decks for example. I've had some games against Lantern Control where the graveyard shuffle portion was very relevant.
I guess I'm more thinking of the common "big 3" matchups, being GDS, E Tron, and Scapeshift. Then the "speedy 3" storm, dredge, and burn. I guess this meta just doesn't feel conducive to Mb Emrakul

Grixis Death's Shadow is a name black with Iona deck, and because their one counter is Stubborn Denial, it's easy to play around.
Eldrazi Tron is an Emrakul matchup only because your other cards are no good. Iona does literally nothing and Elesh Norn isn't really doing that much either. You simply need that slot to be a resilient answer.
Scapeshift is a name green with Iona deck. Shuts off basically everything except Through the Breach.
Storm has always been a name blue matchup, and it's even more so that now. Basically shuts off everything but the win condition itself, but as the Storm player it's nearly impossible to win without playing blue cards.
Dredge is an Elesh Norn matchup, hard to win when your creatures are too small.
Burn is a name red with Iona matchup. Even sometimes that's hard to win because they're fast enough to race that play while also often playing Paths.
I'm not sure how the Eldrazi Tron matchup is, doesn't seem great. It's probably a bit better than RG Tron was but seems unfavourable still.
Blood moon, Rituals, manamorphose, past in flames, grapeshot, empty the warrens... Right?
Seems like you could name blue and then they'd still be able to go off?
I guess their 'out' is a blue card in echoing truths to bounce iona, and gifts ungiven is their main engine. Hmm... Yeah I suppose blue is the play but it's a really tough one and not at all definitely one or the other.
Hi Guys!
I play with UW tron in the last 7 local tournament and i made top 8 in every single one. I have this records 21 wins- 2 loss - 5 splits.
I really like play some different decks, decks who don't appear in my local meta. UW Tron can be huge in some matches and I love play with it.
This is my current list:
To be brutally honest, Elesh Norn just beats Eldrazi Tron. Their creatures aren't bigger than 5/5 naturally unless they happen to play MB Wurmcoil (few do). I'd be gunning for an Elesh Norn happily here.
I just don't feel like Emrakul is where I want to be in the deck. I'm close to finishing it off and my partner is going to pilot it for a little while when we get it done, so chalk up another pilot!

Hi. I have most part of standart UW tron exept collonades and snappi Mage so waht do u think about cheklands? Collonades make our late game better but we already have a good late game, also its have a deal with PW but, mb, Needle in a sideboard can slove this problem? Also i think checklands makes our early game better by scry, wich is good. Later ill post my list thats ill try to play. Its will be a litle unusual.
Hi guys, I recently picked this deck up after having the desire to play it for quite a while. Recently, I've been able to go 4-1 twice in Friendly Leagues with a list largely based on Magi12's. The two losses were Infect, which had T3 kill with double protection up. The second loss was to 5 color humans, which curved Freebooter into Thalia 1 into Thalia 2. I did beat a second five color humans deck in that same league though, so it's not unwinnable.
Locally I have a ton of E-Tron so Iona and Ugin would probably be stuck in the board and maybe some more removal in the main. I'm not sure I like the counterspell suite either.
Red should be burn, Goblins, Dragons, draw/discard, and Standard-unplayable 5CMC cards with insane, lengthy effects that take 10 minutes to figure out what they do and another 20 to actually make their effects work on the field.
I think that humans is an agro deck at the end of the day, so without paths in their list, we can elesh them and winning, meanwhile we have to handle with the table but for this reason we play paths, wraths and thirsts. I did´t play this deck since 6 months, so the question is: can we win to storm with this base package?. I really think this deck is undervalued, but I cannot imagine a deck that could win us systematically.
Humans can be rough because they have Freebooters to steal your removal, both Thalias to tax you, Meddling Mage to preemptively snipe spells, and finally Cavern and Vial to blank counters.
They don't run Path so Elesh is good, but between Champions, Lieutenants, and Riders, sometimes she's just not good enough.
It's probably the hardest aggro match up, but it is beatable.
---
Storm is similarly beatable, but can be difficult if you draw the "wrong half" of the deck. Iona on Blue makes comboing out nearly impossible, and a glut of counter spells along with Relic help to keep them from going off.
I think on this match up you need some kind of quick clock though. Gideon is cheap and starts beats early, so if the coast is clear you should be safe to ride that out.
Thought Knot also serves this role, along with being disruption. Adding TKS has greatly increased my game against combo, so I recommend the full 4 in the 75 if you are expecting Storm or Ad Naeuseum.
Diversified count suite (to Gifts for 2 to hand) and Relic / a clock is what it boils down too. Always keep an out to Empty the Warrens too.
Red should be burn, Goblins, Dragons, draw/discard, and Standard-unplayable 5CMC cards with insane, lengthy effects that take 10 minutes to figure out what they do and another 20 to actually make their effects work on the field.
Iona on blue is just not good. You’re not getting Iona into play until t4 reliably, which means they’ve already setup their hand with cantrips. Iona on red and they literally cannot storm off - they need to cast rituals and PiF, and their wincon is Red.
Storm decks play 2 blue spells out of the SB for bounce, playing Iona to present a 3-turn kill is a lot worse than playing Iona to force the opponent to find a 1-of/2-of or they lose the game. If you untap and have counter backup with Iona red, you just win.
Coming from a Storm player over here, if you put Iona on blue I’m just going to win the game. I don’t need to cast Gifts to win the game, I can generate enough storm for ten 1/1 Goblins pretty easily by turn 4.
