Interestingly, I'm at a pretty similar point as stokpile.
I don't think I've shared a list in a while (if ever) because I don't play this deck all that often, but figured now was as good as any other time.
In looking at stokpile's deck, I'm going to try cutting a snapcaster mage (I play more flashback-able spells, but its still been rather weak) for a cycling land.
I may also swap out a land for a pendelhaven (sunken ruins, likely)
I will echo the AV thoughts. Its been really important, despite the awkwardness is causes sometimes. As I see it, faeries traditionally suffers with no early bitterblossom.
With a build like this, we have 3 potential strong starts, with either AV, bitterblossom, or discard + more interaction.
This came about because I realized that I pretty much never won a game when I started out very far behind (game 1, anyhow). I had to have some kind of early foothold to leverage.
This is also why I like mistbind: it keeps the pressure up, deals good damage, and taking another turn away from them can often be enough after a reasonably disruptive start (or enough to turn a AV into the game).
The tradeoffs, of course, are the fact that there is very little removal/counterspells. Again, even with far more controlling builds, I felt like I just didn't have the tools to win games that went belly up early. As opposed to something like esper control, which doesn't have the problem of drawing weird faeries when you're trying to stay afloat, that build never felt quite right.
With this build, its almost impossible to win games (game 1s) that you start really far behind, which makes mulliganing especially difficult, but you've got enough tools to make sure you're starting with something most games.
Mana leak is also one of my least favorite cards (can you tell we both play esper?), but with 7 manlands, 3 mistbinds, 3 vendilion clique, etc, we've got the finishing power to force spells out before it becomes dead. Definitely hurts sometimes, but logic knot has never felt good in this deck.
Someone several pages back mentioned something about using lilianas/collective brutalities to play bad/high costed cards, because discarding them for other effects essentially gave them "alternate modes" at cheaper costs. This has definitely been correct, IMO, props to the person who brought that up. AV and mistbinds in particular benefit from them greatly.
Its possible I'm just caught up in the past, but LoTV has always felt so lackluster in this deck, and I've always been of the opinion that if you're playing faeries, you should be playing faeries, not bitterblossom + spire in a UB control deck.
I only felt I had room for 4 spot removal spells, and I wanted something against tasigur/eldrazi and the like.
My meta has some death's shadow, but not as much as the meta at large, so I'm not quite as hardpressed to answer threats so efficiently.

stacking scions worked really well 6/0 today at wednesday local modern. That old problem with Mistbind clique and scion of onna was half the time I had to champion scion and let mistbind die. This current list doesn't have that problem. might do 4th Inquisition of Kozilek and two spell snare over the mana leaks later. I like stacking scions but I could see only playing 3, and a few more counters out for a few more removal. I might even go up too 2 faerie conclave and keep the 4 scion of onna. Favorite play of day was skred red tapping out turn 3 for koth I did end of turn scion of onna into main phase scion of onna attack koth for 2, and 2 spell stutter sprites laters he was dead after the 3rd scion draw.
I will be honest, I'm not a fan of scion of oona right now, maybe if the meta somehow gets to where we are playing multiple lingering souls match ups every tourney then maybe I could see it. But on to spell snare, even outside of faeries I think the card is just bad right now, its one of those cards that ebbs and flows and I don't think right now is when you want to be playing it.

Other then tron and eldrazi why do you think spell snare is bad?

It doesn't do much against Grixis shadow outside of countering their snaps. Also it's really awkward with discard especially if you're on the draw.
Its moreso good against the aggro decks but its not necessary unless you have a harder time against them than big mana decks. mine are sb

Decks I have in my bag of tricks- Needless to say, someone who wants to play will probably have a deck UB/x Faeries UR Storm XURWB Affinity G Elves UW control
the double shroud+anthem is where its at with scion of onna. with testing I prefer 3 then any other amount other then 0. With out that extra attack power cryptic command doesn't do its work, and the main reason a few mistbind clique are needed.
Hi! I'll be streaming with UB Faeries tonight at 7 pm eastern at Twitch.tv/dimirspy (about 3 hours from now). I'd love for some big fans of Fae to come by chat!
I've played against a lot of Grixis Death's Shadow and the deck seems incredibly well positioned right now. They don't pack any counters for creatures, so all your Spellstutters and Mistbinds are live. Spellstutter eats a significant chunk of Deaths Shadow decks.
In the board I went -1 Kalitas -1 Hurkyl's Recall; +1 Leyline of the Void +1 Ceremonious Rejection. With the return of Dredge and Living End I felt that I needed that critical mass of Leylines where I could more easily mulligan for them. Ceremonious replaced Hurkyl's in order to help with Tron/ETron (omfg does snapping this back feel good against them) while still being able to come in for affinity - which hasn't been a problem match up at all recently.
Side note: what's the current word on Tasigur? I haven't used him in a bit but when a friend asked why I couldn't come up with a good reason. Is there any card here where you think a Tasigur would be better?

Love it...why Spell snares though? Against CoCo decks? Also why the 3 Leyline / 2 SE split instead of 4 / 1? I really whish you luck at the GP!
I think Tasigur is optimal when combined with Thought Scour and lots of fetches, so you can power him out early. If you're just going to use him as a late-game play, wouldn't Angler be better? It kills Goyfs instead of just blocking them.

The card advantage is very real with Tasigur since all our cards are good. I have played him as a late game finisher and it works really well.
List seems sweet ! Yes faerie hasn't been as well positionned for a while, it's time to shine.
Could you explain us your choice of the sword ?
For Tassigur, you run already murderous cut, it might end up being problematic to have two delve cards, with no particular way to fill the yard (only 4 fetchs and 1/2 shocks because of BB, no thought scour in most of the lists -some tried here, with TS and 3 tassigur, 3/4 snaps -and sometimes a gurmag angler- but it feels like Grixis control without red and with faeries )
Maybe Tassigur instead of a spell snare, as the card isn't really good in the current meta anyway...
(just exposing ideas, I may be wrong)
The reason I chose SoFaF is because with all the maindeck discard, getting in with the Sword basically finishes off their hand. Also since I play 7 manlands it lets me get in with those in the late game AND hold mana up. Third, being able to untap and then equip to a bitterblossom token that just came in is great against Death's Shadow decks (and basically any other deck.) Although to be honest I'm thinking about cutting V Clique at some point to try out SoLaS.

Basically I'm running spell snare as a backup to IoK when I'm on the draw. If I have IoK and Snare in my hand and I hold up U pass, that means that my opponent can run out their goyf/chaliceX=1/whatever into it and I'll get it. Then turn 2 I can lay down IoK holding up push/double IoK Thoughtseize etc. It's also really good against decks playing snap. I would say that I find myself boarding it out more often now that a few months ago however.
And maybe I should play a 4/1 split of LeyOTV vs SE? I usually like SE against tron for the games where I GQ a piece. The games where I bring in leyline I can afford to mulligan pretty heavily for them.

On mtgsalvation people don't want to discuss ideas, so I give people something else to discuss: my controversial opinions.
Did anyone see Yuuta Takahashi's list at GP Vegas?.. He's 7-1 right now. List looked pretty sweet. He was playing Ancestral Vision in the main for his card advantage.

I like the Liliana's and Ancestral visions in the main... perhaps Thought Scours are good enough though. I'll have to try it out. Is the Red really worth it?

So I ended up putting together Yuta's list. I like the build, and it seems super consistent. There may be changes to the sideboard, depending on my specific meta. I will be play testing all this week, and keep chat informed as to how matches go. For reference, here is the build. https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/676401#paper
