Sorin alone improves the deck. I went 6-0 couple weeks ago because Sorin. I may add V-Clique back in. One reason I didn't was needing 2 blue on 3 is harder. But I am going to go to more fetches/shocks. I can afford more pain now that I can heal.
Sunken ruins/mystic gates are always your friends for cryptics (and the like) in three color decks.
While sorin does improve the deck, in a vacuum, the costs for playing more colors are non-negligible.
I think if playing white for sorin was unarguably superior, it would be more common.
He is certainly powerful, as is path, but playing such a deck is not without its own drawbacks.
BW tokens uses sorin to great success, but your build with blue gives up token synergy for control spells. Definitely an interesting list, but I would cut some of the creatures and focus on token generators and anthems. Lingering souls and spectral procession are fantastic with sorin, since you can swing in the air and also threaten lifelink on blockers. The higher cmc creatures seem like hey would be harder to cast with your counter magic. Intangible virtue buffs BB tokens as well, and gives vigilance. 3/2 flying tokens with lifelink and vigilance is nasty. But alas, that is moving more away from a faeries build.
Jeremy, if you're going that route I wonder at what point it becomes a BW Tokens deck with a blue splash, instead of a UB Fae deck with a white splash!
I think the lifegain that white can offer is very wanted in a standard UB Fae deck, but I feel that splashing another color makes this deck very clunky. I've tried red myself to little success.
Instead, I wonder what 3 Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet maindeck would be like. Has anyone tried this?
Sorry for the confusion, I don't run Sorin or BW tokens. I was just referring to Narduang's list and comment about Sorin and his utility. I think Kalitas, Sword of L&S, and batterskull are all fantastic options for lifegain in UB fae without changing or straining our mana base. I think Kalitas is the best option since he is 4 cmc, and has such a fantastic exile ability. However, the artifacts are better against a lot of creature removal, and are not inhibited by a legendary type. I like my 1 Kalitas main, 2 side and one sword of L&S main.
Ya, I've mained 1 Kalitas and sided 1-2 SolaS. Not nearly as effective as Sorin. I'm not necessarily sticking to esper-fae. But, I like to test the waters.
I recently added Batterskull as a 1 of to the sideboard, and I'm not sure why I didnt mention it before when discussing Sorin vs. Kalitas, and so on.
I like Batterskull in the Mid range or grindy games. I definitely wouldnt care for it mb with all of the hyper-linear and aggro decks dominating the meta, but it feels very strong when you and your opponent are both looking for answers on top of your deck. It also adds some more insurance against BB damage.
Between 1 SoLaS and 1 Kalitas mb, and 2 Kalitas 1 Batterskull sb, I feel like my UB list has plenty of lifegain options without adding another color. I actually played against BW tokens recently, and Sorin was obviously a threat when the opponent had a wide board of tokens. Whenever he came down and dropped a vampire, however, he seemed pretty lack luster. The vampire also gets buffed by Intangible Virtue, though, so there still is that synergy in BW tokens. With faeries he either needs a lot of creatures or a BB on board.
Hello everyone, I just had a quick question. What does everyone think of Ancestral Vision? I have them on MTGO, but not in paper. I haven't been sold on them as of yet. What have your experiences been like with the card and do you think they are necessary?

You really have to play with them to determine their usage. I collected a set and am not playing them maindeck right now, but my player preference seems to be 6 discard spells, which means no room MD.

I agree that they feel undesirable mb for me, as they are pretty slow. 3 in the sb come in against attrition matchups. If the meta slows down I can see them mb eventually. I wouldn't rush to buy them unless your meta is full of jund and grixis.
Absolutely fantastic removal for our deck, but I think most of the time we'll be wanting to remove a 2 cmc creature. I dont think we want any more fetches than delta, due to our life total being more important than the average modern deck. This will certainly replace disfigure, adding a lot of strength to our removal after early-game.
Card practically invalidated both Disfigure and Smother.
3x This
1x Dismember
1x Doomblade
Would make a nice removal suite
Some CB in the side.
THis definately plays out very well with Snapcaster mage.
Dotmatrix still swears by Murderous Cut in the conversation we are having on discord

I forgot about Murderous Cut. Should probably be in place of the Doom Blade. Or the Dismember. Anyway, this makes SnapCasterMage so much more viable.
I will soon have acces to my Faerieland again.
This finally gives black a push for the so much needed early removal.
This is insane against jund, burn, infect, affinity and zoo decks.
And our deck really does work well with it, as we have so many ways to activate "revolt"
Flash in mistbind clique on 5 mana to chump block, exile any of our faeries to the champion trigger, and then block with mistbind, and kill their creature with the B floating

Not sure if you're forgetting Go for the Throat, but I think I'll just be replacing the 2 mb disfigure for this, 2 gftt, 1 pact, 1 cut. GftT is dead against affinity, but cannot be redirected to Skite. Depends on what you're expecting, I guess!
