Congrats to our players who were in GPs! Even though you didn't win, I'm just pumped people are bringing faeries to events.
I played a 90 person PPTQ yesterday (featuring people such as Joe Lossett and multiple GP winners... Southern California is competitive) and punted pretty hard in round 1 and lost to Affinity and Storm nut draws the following two rounds to drop. Oh well. The punt came in round 1 when I was up against big Zoo - I'm holding a mistbind clique and I have a mutavault available and I pass turn without saying please stop on Upkeep - opponent jams through to draw step (I had cliqued him twice already) and topdecks a bonfire of the damned for lethal. Wooosh! First comp REL with this deck and saw nothing I really prepared for or had tested against, but I guess that's just how modern is currently. I sat next to PLENTY of incredible players on the lower tables who just saw bad hands or bad matchups. Just need to keep practicing!
In regards to that new 'storm' deck (pyromancer's ascension + thing in the ice) - what do we do against that? I brought in engineered explosives x2 and a countersquall and negate while shaving some removal out, but he was able to fight through 2 early thoughtseizes - the deck seems REALLY strong.
How do people feel about Shadow of Doubt as a sideboard card vs RG Breach decks? Turns a breached Titan into a 5 mana Ball Lightning. Not sure if that's good enough though. Also, what are other people's sideboard plans against it and just thoughts on the match up?
When an opponent can play a land to do 3+ uncounterable damage, seems rough to deal with.

I have two in the extra cards I use to customize the deck and I havent brought them in because I prioritize other matchups personally. But this really does work against RG breach and regular scapeshift aswell. For breach though I kind of like just exiling all the primeval titans out of their library before they can resolve one (personal choice). I feel like I dont say this enough but Faeries works when you know and understand how you are as a player so if it works for you then please tell us your experiences, but it might not work with how others perceive the matchup

Shadow of Doubt? Not great in that matchup I don't think. Perhaps if we had a meta filled with that, and Tron, and Gifts, but I don't have that by me. Ghost Quarters is great, as are counterspells. Hand disruption is also solid, and kill spells can answer the titan. I feel like we are slightly favored in the matchup if we play right. When in doubt Spellskite is probably your best answer that helps across the field, though it is somewhat limited in this matchup. I'd recommend just more counterspells and another Ghost Quarters, if you think it's necessary.

We need your list first . Some Faerie decks can handle it better than others.
It is dependent on the list, but its quite the wide card, to its credit.
Hitting searchs vs tron (map, scrying, sanctums, conduit, etc), hitting nahiri ult, hitting gifts, scapeshift, summoner's pact/any search out of titanshift, hitting mystical teachings out of ad nauseum, hitting fetchs vs everyone who plays them, etc. And cantrips ontop of all of that.
Gets better with snapcaster mage and ghost quarter.

I personally dislike thos card, but i run it in a bw death and taxes. The card is only good the one time people see it then they play around it like no other.
On the side note of why i actually was posting. I see people playing mostly painless lands except some number of fetch/shocks/basics with using 2 shocks i wonder why no one is using the sunken hollpw from bfz block

Sunken Hollow is a Salt Marsh until you have 2 basics in play.
Paying the life to have an untapped Watery Grave is easier to plan around vs having to warp your land sequencing to have 2 basics up.
Incidentally I don't really approve of only 2 Watery Graves because coming in untapped is super important and paying life is honestly the one condition that is always under our control (barring the printing of some more nonsensical "you can't pay life" hate-creatures; Angel of Jubilation would ruin fetch-shock manabases if it came out sooner, of this I am sure).
It's not that Sunken Hollow is bad per-se, I like the intent of the card, it's just that it's kinda slow and plodding unless you want to run a lot of fetchlands and start every game fetching for an Island and a Swamp before playing things that actually tap for more than one color.
Sweet list, but sad that he didn't continue with his Faerie tempo list I think..
I am just craaaving Anthony Hunyh's latest list (supposedly without mistbind), please, does anyone have it? Floofalump?
Yeah, I've reached to him to ask a little advice on Faeries a while ago and he said he was more into UB Control and sent me the list. I personally found it pretty nice, I just hadn't the time to test it yet.
Fae-Blade is definitely a deck lol shame I dont have a sword of feast and famine right now

That is a really cool list! Wish he had mistbind though. It's super good as a finisher. But he was running a very control heavy list so I guess its alright. Only 10 faeries so not too much synergy there.
if its just to protect the spell quellers why dont you just play spirit tribal with this list and play rattlechains? Im sure its easier to manage as Im working on a flash spirits list myself

UW spirits isn't that great tbh because you are forced into running Vial in order to make your creatures always have flash. Vial is kind of a dead card when you are grinding late game.

On mtgsalvation people don't want to discuss ideas, so I give people something else to discuss: my controversial opinions.

Agreed, and thats why I dont run vial. Anyway if this works for you it works for you, i just dont see the point of having spellstutter sprite in the deck. if you took anthony's recent approach and played swords Id say it made sense, but spellstutter looks like it has less value here than in monoblue faeries with the way the format is shaping up

Put it this way, sprite covers the one drops that I want to counter. Since there are a lot of 1 drops played in modern these days, sprite gets a lot of mileage. Sprite plus spellskite also do a great job in protecting Spell Queller due to path/bolt popularity. Plus sprite grows in power late game just like in fae. I'm refining it still so we will see.

Hi guys, im picking the deck after a few months and I was thinking about trying Collective Brutality main replacing a disfigure. Anyone had success with it?
Seems like it could be good as the 6th removal/6th discard/lifegain splitcard (Im playing 3 Inquisition 2 Thoughtseize and 1 Slaughter pact, 1 Cut, 1 Go for the throat, 1 Dismember, 1 Disfigure).
Collective Brutality is a pretty sweet card but I don't know that I'd actually want to replace disfigure for it. Black is in a weird spot because we have a wealth of options available to us at 2 mana but we have very little quality removal available at 1. Being able to interact on turn 1 can be pretty crucial sometimes against things like Infect or when you need to bolt the bird.
