I am not saying to splash green, just the general mindset that this deck follows. I am not sure if this makes sense but I mean the idea and the execution plan. I have never used splash in my Fae lists anyway, I don't think we need it. I would agree with 1x alchemy and 4x visions. I also like the mainboard sweepers.
I think the mainboard sweepers are why he got away with running the visions and research. Spending a turn just to draw cards is rough when you're full of one-for-one removal as it can give your opponent time to build up a board. Knowing you can dig for the damnation when you need to makes the three-mana for a draw spell and the cantrips a little less painful.
I personally am not a fan of mainboard sweepers in Faeries. But it is an option. At least a similar deck (I find it to be similar) is putting up good results. I really love the 5-0 score streak against Twin the guy managed to pull off, which is really how faeries perform as well. If the meta coming weekend (GPT coming up) will be represented by this one, then I am confidant to bring faeries.
Oh boy, I don't know if it will be any playable but it looks at least fun
Over=priced Sower? This will be awesome in standard but there aren't any planeswalkers in modern really. decks with Liliana can just use removal on it. Plus I don't think stealing liliana is very good.

This card needs delve. It's too expensive for Modern. Maybe if it would cost 5 and had hexproof.
For real, though. The best thing about the other Silumgar was that he had hexproof. Now they take that away and I just see little reason to play him.
I understand that a less good volition reins on a 3/5 flying deathtouch in a color of tribal that seems viable in standard is good, but then again so does simply casting Radiant Purge in response.
On the topic of UB fae, however. As mentioned this is WAYYYY to expensive for fae. Anything after 4 mana is not happening. It's bad enough we sometimes have to get to 5 mana to mistbind our mutavault.

There is no reason being friendly and being competitive can't be synonymous.

I disagree that 5 and 6 mana spells are impossible. They just have to do the right things.

4+ CMC spells really need to do some work if they are playable in modern.

Thanks for stating the obvious! I think that's what I said "They just have to do the right thing". I presumed you would understand the "right thing" would at least equal "do some work".

In this particular deck I find them to be improbable. Perhaps that was the word I should have originally chosen. Improbable.

You would be wrong then. People play Batterskull, sometimes maindeck, very often in the sideboard of U/B Faeries. Playing a Jace's Ingenuity would also be fine as a maindeck card draw spell. I'm sure there are plenty more.
I still prefer Sower of Temptation over the dragon.
Another topic, there is a set of cards that cost 3 mana at sorcery speed that slowly create card advantage in our colors: Jace Beleren, Liliana of the Veil, Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and Tasigur, the Golden Fang (this one requires a little set up, but it's perfectly viable). Both the planeswalkers and Tasigur require you to play many discard spells maindeck to make them more effective and have similar roles in the deck, so they're fighting for the same slots in a particular Faerie build (less synergy and draw&go play and more just drop the bomb). How many of these cards would you play? Which is your order of preference?

Countermagic is the smell before rain, the sun on the horizon and the chocolate chips in my mint chocolate chip ice cream. It's the first time I saw a woman naked and the first time I smelled perfume. It's that feeling you get when you know you're right.
But most of all; it's the feeling of playing Magic
All of the new ally-color Elder Dragons of DTK are getting a command, with the UW Ojutai's Command being the first spoiled; and that means a UB one for Silumgar's Command. Again, I expect to be disappointed, but can't stop myself from being hyped in the mean time.

Saying I'm wrong for saying something is improbable is silly. I myself run a batterskull, so I guess I can be called a hypocrite. Batterskull makes a fine case of a card with more than 4cmc that deserves to be in a deck, however.
Instant gratification, use beyond that gratification, and re-usability.
Jace's Ingenuity does not do much of any of the above effectively, and I can think of no fae list, be it BUG, Esper or srtaight UB that should have room for such an obscure card.
However, that's just my opinion which I base on theoretical scenarios in which running a one of JI would be more beneficial than a 4th cryptic.
