Yeah I like the concept behind the Madcap Gideon's I just agree with what you stated that it is very top heavy (not that my list isn't) but it also means playing cards like Wall are not possible which try as I might I think he is needed in this format.
My biggest things on my list that I questions is of Painful Truths is worth the 1 of, if Nahiri should be a 4 of or if 3 is enough, as well if I should try and fit a Gideon ally in there
Probably, just need to figure out how to get the 4th back in.. I could go back down to 22 lands
Probably Ajani is a better option. 22 lands is too risky.
You already have good options to lock your opponents besides Ajani.
EDIT: a lot of mistypes while posting from my cellphone.
Another 2-2 FNM...Played against Taking Turns 2-0, Eldrazi Tron 0-2 (I sincerely hate that ******* deck and its stupid turn 3 natural Tron bull*****), Burn 2-1, Unburial Gifts 0-2.
Differences in what I ran compared to my list above was removing 1 Grim Lavamancer and 1 Lingering Souls for 1 Big Game Hunter and 1 Lightning Bolt. Thinking of cutting BGH, 1 Paladin, and 1 Crusader for 2 Lighting Bolt and 1 Lightning Helix

Illness in the ranks in your sb seems odd - nonbos with souls and only good against bw tokens in particular. Have you considered playing cards like fulminator mage, if you are haveing trouble with tron, instead?
Illness is a local meta choice, 3 different people play some form of token deck so it's a house against them. I don't own Fulminator or have the funds to get them. I'd probably rather play Blood Moon than Fulminator against Tron to be honest, can easily adjust my manabase to accommodate Blood Moon.

Hey there, I posted in the B/R Control thread on the Deck Creation forum, but thought maybe this deck would fit here too. Here's the brew I've been working on.
A little background, the original idea was to build a deck that could play Sarkhan the Mad, a card I thought was really under-appreciated. Sarkhan honestly performs great. With lots of token-makers in the deck, you can turn your creatures into dragons easily. Chalice of the Void on x=1 is another super strong play, especially in the current meta, and stops any Fatal Push the opponents may have.
It has some trouble though. The mana base is a bit rocky, and the sideboard is kinda thrown together. There's also some cards I'd like to find space for but can't, stuff like Ensnaring Bridge or an extra Kolaghan's Command.
Let me know what you think, I could really use some feedback haha

How does everyone feel about Dark Confidant in Nahiri builds? I see some people using Asylum Visitor, but Bob seems a bit better? Looks like it fits in the curve nicely as there aren't a lot of 2cc.
I didn't like it when I proxied it because of hitting 3 and 4 cost cards almost every time. Maybe its just my personal experience but I hated it.
Just found out there's going to be a Modern tournament this weekend with a foil Misty Rainforest for 1st place, I want to go in with the best chance I have. This is what I took to FNM, what should I switch to maximize my chances? I don't have access to Liliana so that's out of the question.
I definitely want to take out Illness In The Ranks and switch out Bontu's Last Reckoning for Wrath of God, beyond that I don't know what to put in. It's in a store I haven't played at before, so I'm going in blind as for what kind of decks to expect.

I would definitely run 4 Lingering and 4 Nahiri and 3 Thoughtseize if you have access to them, they help a lot vs combo match up. Butcher and Thalia seem sub optimal to me in such a deck. I played quite a lot of games with Mardu Nahiri and I believe that no creature is the way to go except a Gurmag or two(I do have Liliana though).
If I had Thoughtseize or the 4th Nahiri I'd run them for sure. Local stores were sold out of Gurmag Angler and the only Delve creature I have is Tombstalker, but without Liliana I'm lacking in ways to fill the grave to make use of Delve.
As for taking out Illness I'm thinking putting in the 4th Path and Kataki, War's Wage or going double Kataki.

Based on how often you mention not being able to get your hands on certain cards, I think you may need to switch to ordering cards online, man.
How does everyone feel about Dark Confidant in Nahiri builds? I see some people using Asylum Visitor, but Bob seems a bit better? Looks like it fits in the curve nicely as there aren't a lot of 2cc.
Talking about curve, what about flipping an Emrakul with Bob? I don't want to lose games like that.
It happens less often then you should fear it, the cards you draw from Dark Confidant are well worth the life you might lose in the meantime. You will win more games then you will lose with bob.
I don't know, my experience playing with Emrakul in this deck is your draw it pretty often. I don't like to suicide myself on the spot, even if just 1 game out of 10. Plus, Bob is not good in Nahiri builds in general 'cause they have too high a curve. 4 Nahiri, probably 4 Liliana or Little Gid, 4 Lingering Souls. You are going to take in a ton of damages. Bob is better in other midrangey type builds but I would avoid it in Nahiri builds, also because he will die horribly often in such builds (very few creatures).
I agree it would suck big time to lose on the spot like that. I admit the number of games I've played with this deck is low, but my experience so far has been that I'm always a card or two behind on the necessary resources to protect Nahiri long enough. Mardu suffers from not having a good card advantage engine, so while its comfortable dealing with the first few threats, even casting a sweeper, the creature decks can recover and overcome you in the long game (Collected company...). I feel like I've been out-grinded quite a bit. It feels like having an "answer now" card like bob is a good spot to be, and might even open the door up for Kalitas. Sure it will likely eat removal most of the time, but if he draws a card or two, that could be the difference.
Also, just for arguments sake, some very oversimplified math says that with 51-30 cards left in the deck, the chance of flipping Emrakul is 2-3% per trigger. Of course the true % that you will lose a game off an Emrakul flip is more complicated, but it ultimately comes down to whether the win% is improved enough with Bob that without.
Another option is siding out the combo and into a more midrangy/go-wide strategy for those grindy matchups. Maybe Young Pyro + Sorin or something?
Okay back to the drawing board... My massive list of Planeswalkers has not been working how i would like it to. I plan to drop 2-4 of them from the list and to improve on it... Does anyone have some current Mardu Nahiri lists they have been enjoying? Preferably running Little Gid, Nahiri and Liliana in the deck (these 3 together are super hard to beat). I know for sure my list needs some more card advantage or atleast filtering as I get into Hellbent mode way to quickly and then i am just banking on drawing a walker to win... which doesn't go to well against a UW control deck. Not to mention a resolved Jace without Burn or a PW kill card is game over.. him Fetching for my Emrakul feels bad :(. All help is appreciated!

My 2 cents...
Painful Truths is probably still better though.
Phyrexian Arena is also an option but is really slow.
Sin Prodder is a nice card but isn't worthy of the spot.
Arena is really slow but better then Prodder. And more resilient to removal.
