how about collective defiance? the dumping your heavy land hand and drawing more gas seems nice.
the 2 other modes are also relevant.
how about burn matchup? is it worth it to have kor firewalker in the sideboard? switching it with restore balance is rough on burn, also unlike living end deck we can actually cast it from hand.
also no love for durkwood baloth and riftwing cloudskate?
durkwood baloth and riftwing cloudskate? -> its a different build for restore balance.Look up for Ryan Cubit Decklist for this version.

Thank you for your thoughts! I agree that Nahiri is more versatile with filtering and removal built in; however she also takes three turns to ultimate and stick around for a follow-up. While some people scoop to Emrakul the first time, she doesn't necessarily kill on the first hit. The advantage with Samut is she can kill the turn she ultimates, here is the list I plan to test as it was working better than any list running blue I came up with previously:
You make a good point about Samut's ultimate being "more effective" so to speak. However, I just thought of another issue. What do you do if the Xenagos/Emrakul win-con gets stuck in your hand? Samut, like Nahiri, has to pull the cards from your library. With Nahiri, you can just discard Emrakul if you draw her before you ultimate. With Samut, it looks like if you draw either piece too early, you're sort of out of luck.
That's fair. I don't disagree that the card is worth testing and I'd be curious to hear how it goes for you. That being said, I'm not quite ready to give up my card draw+removal+win-con planeswalker just yet,
not sure if your able to help but im looking at trying to improve (he says only every playing 1 game with the deck) my deck i use at my local LGS.
i started with the MTG goldfish budget list and sort of used a few decks ive seen around online to build what i thought would be a workable deck.
However i found most of the time i was just stalling into land or posts
maybe it was just bad luck but ive been pointed to you lovely people by someone on Reddit.
any help you can lend to try stream line this and get it more efficient (please not i do not want to go down the route of UW control, i hate UW control lol) is more then welcome
by cutting U you effectively playing RWG splashing B for a couple of card. i think it will put a lighter load on your mana base
why not using demonic dreadif you are maining yahenni's expertise? your land is geared toward black anyway.
i am not familiar enough with yahenni's expertise in this deck but i prefer anger of the gods for sweeper. the extra cast is nice for emptying your hand faster but 4 mana sweeper is a bit pricey in modern format.
by now we know that metalwork colossus are superior than greater gargadon in the borderpost build. i think you need to switch out riftwing cloudskate and replace it with metalwork colossus. beast within is somewaht a neccessary evil in this deck imo. i think you need a pair of them mainboard.

if you want to cast restore balance out of your hand, kari zev's expertiseis the way to go. on color and cost efficient.
but i dont really think you need the expertise in restore balance deck since you could always discard it using nahiri, the harbinger and later discard emrakul, the aeons torn to shuffle the balance into your library.
if you want token producer you should consider timely reinforcements. it patch up your life total and make some chump blocker.
I prefer Anticipate due to instant speed for maximum value off As Foretold. For mana rocks, why run them if the count is so low? Simian Spirit Guide can enable a turn two Foretold into Visions.
Edit: End of turn Path into main phase Balance though
Pentad Prism can ramp us more than SSG (like turn 3: Nahiri and hold Path/L.Bolt) or can remain after Restore Balance as a reserve mana source.
Though SSG can be cast and beat down as a 2/2 when opponents have no lands to stop it.
i think nahiri, the harbinger is far more superior compared to saheeli rai, if you have nahiri just run her + emrakul, the aeons torn and never look back. with greater gargadon and/or metalwork colossus i think you got plenty of win condition without the need for adding U.
consistency is the issue here. you need basic lands to interact with the borderpost which means adding U somewhat put burdens on your mana base.
i am not sold on as foretold versions of restore balance. yes it is inherently more powerful but depending on 4 copies of 3 mana enchantment that didn't yield instant results are somewhat scary.
i just wonder why this deck is not as popular as living end. it dodges graveyard hate, have solid combo and win condition.
is it because this deck is somewhat vulnerable against hyper aggressive strategy?
And the success has been awesome, I find it pretty consistent mana wise with the correct number of boarder posts. I love as foretold in this deck as it gets around stony silence g2 etc, Blood moon has won me games as some decks cant beat it... I go back and fourth on # of planeswalkers etc and I want to find room for ghostly prison's in the sideboard but yeah:D
there is nothing wrong with brewing but in a fast and unforgiving format like modern you need to take extra caution.
first and foremost you always want instant speed restore balance, sorcery speed is ok but games are mostly win on the back of instant speed. as foretold is an ok-ish card but it needs the balance in hand in order to cast it which is annoying.
i think dont mix up the 2 because you loses path to exile and other early interactive card by mixing cascade and as foretold.
I've been playing 2 As Foretold in a cascade version and I'm really loving them. I think 2 is the perfect number. I tried the full 4 version without any cascaders and while being able to play things like Ancestral Visions is nice, the loss of consistency bothered me too much. In total, I have 10 Restore Balance enablers: 4 Violent Outburst, 4 Ardent Plea, and 2 As Foretold.
For me, the biggest benefit of As Foretold has been its utility in the long game. Obviously, it's very nice to be able to get Restore Balances out of your hand, but if As Foretold sticks around for a few turns, the value of all of those free spells isn't usually something my opponents have been able to come back from.
Anyone still on Borderposts? I want to make a deck for my nephew, and I am trying to give him one without fetchlands. I thought in the current meta, a Borderposts + basics list with As Foretold and some other spicy cards like Bontu's Last Reckoning and Oketra's Last Mercy could jump in.

1. Samut + Metalwork or Emmy would be lethal next turn (still faster than Nahiri for closing a game).
Lastly, timing a Balance to force your own discard could put Emmy back into the deck, not optimal but doable.2. Xenagos + Metalwork (or Gargadon if your opponent plays Shocklands) could swing lethal but is way easier to disrupt and chump.
3. Xenagos and Samut with a suspended Gargadon that you can play would be lethal same turn, still suffers from chump blocks or removal.

thanks for the advice
i use yahenni's expertise as its a way to cast restore balance from hand if you dont want to susspend it, or cast yahenni's expertise to kill your spirtis then cast a free violent outburstto cascade to restore balance
but i dont really think you need the expertise in restore balance deck since you could always discard it using nahiri, the harbinger and later discard emrakul, the aeons torn to shuffle the balance into your library.

The deck looks pretty good but can be streamlined imho.
Cards like: Elesh Norn, Living End, Borderposts and also Faithless Looting and Collective Brutality can be dropped and make it a more focused Jeskai-colored version.
Here is how I'd do it:
4x Greater Gargadon
1x Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
Planeswalker (4)
4x Nahiri, the Harbinger
Enchantment (4)
4x As Foretold
Sorcery (17)
4x Ancestral Vision
4x Restore Balance
4x Serum Visions
3x Sleight of Hand
2x Kari Zev's Expertise
Instant (7)
4x Path to Exile
3x Lightning Bolt
3x Pentad Prism
Land (20)
4x Scalding Tarn
3x Arid Mesa
1x Steam Vents
1x Sacred Foundry
1x Hallowed Fountain
4x Spirebluff Canal
3x Tolaria West
1x Island
1x Mountain
1x Plains
4x Leyline of Sanctity
3x Relic of Progenitus
2x Stony Silence
2x Wear // Tear
2x Negate
2x Anger of the Gods
and if Sleight of Hand should be preferred to Anticipate.
What do you think ?
Edit: End of turn Path into main phase Balance though
Though SSG can be cast and beat down as a 2/2 when opponents have no lands to stop it.
I'm not sure how necessary the extra ramp is so maybe those slots should be something else.
Maybe Idyllic Tutor to find As Foretold (and SB: Leyline/Stony) or more copies of Kari Zev's Expertise and the 4th L.Bolt ?
Edit:
Apparantly there is a thread for this version already so its probaly better to continue discussing it there -

restore balance need a strong finisher because you only have 1 or 2 turn window to kill your opponent before they stabilize.
abuse planeswalker more, gideon of the trials, gideon, ally of zendikar and elspeth, knight-errant seems to be a good fit here.
i think you should run the list trough some practice match with cockatrice or x mage and collect some results
