you also have 8 boarder posts, but having tried it i've found it a little to unreliable as the cards that remove balance from the deck exile it and if you have to cast more than 3-4 balances in a game your not winning. (i rarely have cast more than three. as after that i should have enough advantage on the field to win) but i do run a playset of balances as i have also drawn 2 balances as well i a game and you want to be able to get off a second one 2-4 turn after the first to really shut down that game.
He has 16 borderposts...which I think is too many for a deck not running Tezzeret or March of the machines. I think 12 is pretty much the right number, but I haven't played with more that often because I found drawing three posts in a row felt really bad when I was losing to Affinity.
What I ment was 8 of his boarder posts counted as white permanents sorry I didn't make this clear.
And yes I agree that the border post number was a little high for deck without an artifact wincon.
I've always had trouble against affinity as they are one of the fue decks that don't require much/any land to get started. As balance acts as our board wipe and hand hate the card I found most useful to SB was Timely Reinforcements as a 3 of. As even after a balance I was finding that if they new the deck I was playing they kept back a couple of 0-1 drops. Which still left them with the advantage and this really slowed them up long anuf for a second balance and/or a win con to be played.
Ahh, I see what you mean. Yes. There are eight white borderposts. I had a brain fart and for some reason neglected them.
As for your issue: I've found I don't have a lot of trouble with my oppo sandbagging some small guys (as long as it's not Death's Shadow). I can play Nahiri and exile the small guy before he does too much damage, or play a SSG to block or Lingering Souls, or I run one Ajani Vengeant which has been good too.

Some people like to win MtG matches in the Red Zone. I prefer to win the way God intended: on the stack.
I wasn't impressed with Failure//Comply; I found that bouncing the spell wasn't really what I wanted in most matches and the Mana required was occasionally opposite of what I needed for Violent Outburst. Additionally, I hated the Mana inconsistencies I had running four colors. My previous Jund focused build seemed alot more stable. I'm looking at building an Esper build with a light red splash for Gargadon, I hope to get testing in next week and will let y'all know how it works.
My first build of the deck ran Culling Scales and Forbidden Orchard which was really fun, but sometimes awkward choosing to keep an Orchad post-Balance to keep a soft lock on board. Eventually I cut it for more interaction via Beast Within.
anguished unmaking feels better than ,in the labeast withinte game with no cascades or no restore balances left in the deck, this happens surprisingly often, beast is terrible, as foretold only works with balance in hand, all cascades always hit, so you should take out foretolds. One offlooded strandonly 16 dollars, allows you to fetch up mistveil plains it also sets up restore balance infinite times, and let's you set up the draw after the cascade, you can probably cut a wilds and terry.terramorphic expanse:banana::sunny:tezzeret, the seeker is an amazing win con with borderposts, nice list
I just wanted to jump in this thread to say I built this deck, played it at the SCG Classic today (did terribly in the Open with another deck...), and I don't think I've ever had this much fun playing magic. I'm playing a 10-post version without As Foretold and I'm completely converted. I even traded in a deck I don't really play much online so I can play on mtgo, too. Many thanks to the people in this thread as I spent a lot of time lurking here as I put my list together.

Yeah, U/W prison is a difficult match for us because there are 4 Chalice of the Void and lots of planeswalkers in his main and Stony Silence in sideboard.

Congrats, I am considering colossus, but didn't know what to cut, but I am concerned about the dissolution of the combo, meaning gargantuan and balance, because if your opponents top deck lands after balance you sometimes just lose, with borderposts opponents get more cards because the lands are in your hand allowing them cards, while you just have basics, aso for unmaking it feels better than beast within because of late game top decking.

I mad my account to post on the restore balance forum
I think this might be better than Nahiri as it reduces the need for white, puts Emrakul into play, and can end a game faster with Emmy staying in play (potentially with double strike if you fetch up another Samut)
It might be worth testing, though I think there are two main reasons I'd still take Nahiri over Samut: 1) Nahiri gets to her ultimate in two turns, Samut takes 3 and 2) all three of Nahiri's abilities are very relevant for us, both looting and removal, Samut doesn't really do anything relevant until the ultimate.
Went 4-2 at a gpt on friday with a balance list. I really want to find something better than ajani in the non-blue list to end the game. Took 1 out for a Gideon Jura, card seemed better. Would love a better card engine anyone try a phyrexian arena?
Phyrexian Arena definitely draws lots of cards but would the life loss be a concern over the course of multiple turns? Also, I imagine the double black would require tweaking the mana base (though maybe not, my list is just a black splash for Lingering Souls and Slaughter Games in the SB.)
I agree it has life loss to but if it gets bad enough we can exile it with nahiri or beast within it? idk i just found that the Ajani in the deck doesn't help the deck win the game unless you have other things already winning you the game at the same time.
I think the life loss alone means it should be a sideboard card. I would hate to draw the Arena against something like burn.
I haven't actually tested Ajani myself, but I currently trying to figure out the best closer to compliment Nahiri. I originally ran 2 Kioras, cut it down to 1, and now don't play any at all. Of course there's Greater Gargadon and I've won a non-zero number of games with Simian Spirit Guide, but I've had more than a few games where I wipe the opponents lands and creatures, only to have them rebuild and kill me before I can apply any real pressure of my own.
I've been testing Gideon, and was thinking about going Grixis green for Ashiok.
Ashiok is sort of a pet card of mine, so that could be cool but I'm worried they don't really close the game out fast enough. I guess if you wipe all the opponent's lands you can stall until you deck them out.
Day2
Match 10: B/G Tron 1-2
Game1: Lost by turn 3 Karn.
Game2: -2 Anger of the Gods , +2 Wear // Tear
Played early Blood Moon. Although he use Pithing Needle to lock my Nahiri, using Beast Within and Simian Spirit Guide finished the game.
Game3: I kept a good hand with Blood Moon and Violent Outburst and drew Metalwork Colossus. Thought I could take this game. However, to my surprise he mixed black and played some discard cards to disturb my plan and I couldn’t stop him to find the tron pieces.
Match 11: Abzan 2-0
Match 12: Affinity 2-0
-2Beast Within -1Restore Balance, +3 Wear // Tear
Both of games I casted balance early and brought us in the top-deck games. Just lucky to draw finisher earlier than my opponent kill me.
Match 13: Dredge 1-1-1
Game1: I tried to use Nahiri and Balance to stop his offensive and drew the Anger of the Gods in the last minutes, but lost by his big Conflagrate.
Game2: -2 Beast Within -2 Blood Moon, +4 Leyline of the Void
I played turn 0 Leyline of the Void , but he destroyed it immediately. I balanced 5 times and finally drew the Anger of the Gods to exile all his zombies. It took us about 40 mins in this game.
Game3: I played turn 3 and turn 4 Metalwork Colossus and could win because he didn’t have card to deal with them. But time is over.
Match 14: Bant Retreat 2-1
Game1: Turn 3 Balance and turn 4 Nahari won.
Game2: -3 Blood Moon, +3 Wear // Tear
I kept a good hand with turn 3 balance and turn 4 Metalwork Colossus, but he found his combo pieces in turn 3.
Game3: Similar as game1.
Match 15: Abzan 0-2
Double mulliganed both games and still had bad hands.
(9-5-1)
I replaced Greater Gargadon by Metalwork Colossus and using post build, because I felt Gargadon sometimes too slow.
It worked great. Don't need to draw Gargadon early and can play almost everytime I try to finish the game.
Ahh, I see what you mean. Yes. There are eight white borderposts. I had a brain fart and for some reason neglected them.

Culling Scales seems wayyyy to good to not play in this deck.
My first build of the deck ran Culling Scales and Forbidden Orchard which was really fun, but sometimes awkward choosing to keep an Orchad post-Balance to keep a soft lock on board. Eventually I cut it for more interaction via Beast Within.

Match 2: Blue Moon 2-0
Match 3: Grixis Control 2-0
Game1: I casted an turn two Blood Moon to lock his blue and black mana and won by Metalwork Colossus.
Game2: -3 Blood Moon -2 Anger of the Gods -1 Beast Within, +2 Ricochet Trap +4 Leyline of Sanctity
He suspended Ancestral Vision first turn and used Inquisition of Kozilek and Thoughtseize to discard my cascade cards. I was lucky to draw Ricochet Trap and change the target of Ancestral Vision to let me have more resource and won by Metalwork Colossus.
Match 4: Snake Scales 2-0
Easy win. He couldn’t interact with balance.
Match 5: W/R Prison 2-1
Game1: Just lost by his planeswalkers.
Game2: -3 Blood Moon -2 Anger of the Gods , +3 Wear // Tear +1 Slaughter Games +1 Ricochet Trap
He had early Chalice of the Void, Stony Silence and Blood Moon but I removed two Simian Spirit Guide to cast both sides of Wear // Tear and then balancing out his lands. Several turns later, Nahiri won the game.
Game3: He double mulliganed to turn1 Chalice of the Void. I kept a turn 3 Metalwork Colossus hand, and he couldn't deal with it.
Match 6: U/W Control 1-2
Game1: He countered all my balance and wincon, and using Gideon Jura to finish the game.
Game2: -3 Blood Moon -2 Anger of the Gods -1 Demonic Dread, +3 Ricochet Trap +3Wear // Tear
Turn 3, he tapped out to cast Gideon of the Trials. I beasted it and balanced in my turn. And then Nahiri won the game.
Game3: -1 Wear // Tear,+1 Demonic Dread
I was punished by side out Wear // Tear. He played early Stony Silence. I had good hand but couldn’t do anything and lost the game.
Match 7: Living End 0-2
Game1: He cycled 4 creatures in turn3. I misplayed Blood Moon and didn’t have mana to answer Violent Outburst he casted in my end phase.
Game2: -2 Anger of the Gods -2 Beast Within -1 Blood Moon, +4 Leyline of the Void +1 Slaughter Games
Played Leyline of the Void in turn 0, but he casted Slaughter Games to exiled all my balance and I couldn’t deal with his creatures.
Match 8: Valakut 2-1
Game1: I kept a slow hand without cascade card and lost by Titan.
Game2: -2 Anger of the Gods -2 Beast Within -1 Simian Spirit Guide, +4 Leyline of Sanctity +1 Slaughter Games
Balancing out his lands several times and won by Metalwork Colossus.
Game3: Similar as game2.
Match 9: Abzan 2-1
Game1: Free win by early Blood Moon.
Game2: -2 Anger of the Gods -1 Restore Balance -1 Beast Within, +4 Leyline of Sanctity
I balanced out all his lands and creatures but couldn’t deal with the Liliana of the Veil.
Game3: -2 Blood Moon, +1 Beast Within +1 Restore Balance
Played turn 0 Leyline of Sanctity. My opponent was surprising and seemed keeping a lot of discard cards. Turn4 balance and later won by Nahiri.

I'll move Anger of the Gods to sideboard because I didn't cast it a single time except v.s. Dredge and maybe adding more Maelstrom Pulse or Anguished Unmaking to deal with planswalker.
I'll try Ravenous Trap to replace Leyline of the Void in side because it seems too easy to be destroyed.
