I'm not sure how I feel about the Madcap Experiment builds. I can see it being good against certain things, but putting out an 8/8 that dies to Path, Terminate, gets bounced super-easy, etc. feels kind of all in. I think 3/3/3 Huntmaster/Courser/Tracker is very solid for midrange and there is still the fall-back plan.
I still really like Crimson Lancer's Eldritch Evo build. I ran it last night and it felt good. However, I do miss Bonfire of the Damned. CR's build is kind of all-in on creatures and they are a bit of a pile. In fact, you could call it Ponza Pile and not be wrong. I just wonder if the right thing to do is drop the Nissas and something else and run Bonfire. That doesn't really hurt your creature quantity.

yeah, emperion is something I have tested with. It is weak to such mainboard staples as....
Cryptics bounce mode.
K command
Path
Deaths shadows that are big
Echoing truth
It's true, both the Madcap and Evolution builds feel like GR Moon Ramp, not Ponza proper. Still, I think they are better ways to build a mid-range Blood Moon deck because creature value wins games more consistently than LD.
In fact, LD doesn't win games. It is a prison (resource denial) strategy reliant on something else to actually win. In the case of RG, it is ramp into value creatures that wins the game while LD limits your opponent's ability to respond. Of course, it is an inconsistent strategy because using three mana to get rid of 1 mana isn't great. That's why Strip Mine, Wasteland and Ghost Quarter see so much play, but Stone Rain does not.
Blood Moon, on the other hand, is a different animal and works well with a value creature strategy and allows you to run enough creatures to have a constant supply of threats even when your ramp is destroyed.

its no replacement for blood moon, you won't lock a JUNK/jund deck out of the game with it.
some argue that modern it will work because of fetch lands, but for the average amount of time that would mess an opponent up, a simple stone rain can achieve the same amount of disruption.
Main deck:
I dropped the Nissas, which were underwhelming and allow me to play Bonfire of the Damned, which feels very good in this deck.
I don't know about Pia and Kiran Nalaar versus Huntmaster of the Fells. P&K has reach and blocks flyers, but Huntmaster is very hard for a lot of decks to deal with, has lifegain and burn, and honestly 2RG is much easier to cast than 2RR on turn 4, versus doing an EE to get you 5 and 6 drops.
Also on the fence about Hazoret, but also Eternal Witness, since you can't EW an EE. Maybe I would rather have 1-2 more Courser of Kruphix to hit mana more consistently, block aggro and gain life.
So what's the line of play with the Eldritch Evolution variants; cast evo -> sac a dork -> fetch up a tool box creature that has a relevant ETB effect? I'm definitely intrigued and will probably modify my current Ponza list, so I can experiment with it at FNM, but I'd be hesitant to refer to it as a Ponza/LD deck. Especially in the case of the linked list from the previous page that doesn't run any LD save for an Acidic Slime and Blood Moon; GR toolbox ramp/moon would be a more appropriate description.
I'm popping by here again to remind everyone that Birds of Paradise, Bonfire and Inferno Titan are bad. If you are still playing them, you are wrong and are the reasons why your deck doesn't perform as well as it can. That is all.

I think Inferno Titan as a 1 of is fine but can often not be missed.

You forgot Thragtusk.
That is a nope from me. Thragtusk, which is only a 1 of, has saved me more times than not and is often the target I choose when playing Primal Command along with gaining 7 life to stabilize against fast decks. Also Thragtusk trades with most everything relevant in modern.
Hey guys, I have never played the deck, but want to build the deck. The Madcap version just got 3rd in the Team constructed of SCG Philly, but I dont know if its that good. What should I be playing? Madcap version, Land Destruction version? Birds of paradise, Bonfire? Why is Birds bad? What should I do!?

Do what you want. Birds are fine, they aid consistency. Version you run is a meta or personal call, especially the inclusion or exclusion of bonfire and thragtusk. Madcap is weak to path and kologhans command, so if you see s lot of those spells avoid the combo (and there are a lot of those spells).

your probably right, I never thought it might be a typo for Wolf Run.
oh ya, the stone rain in the sideboard? isn't that defeating the purpose/Goal of Ponza?

This was my list. I like it. Not sure it is very good against combo and Blue Moon.
Sideboard:
I'm not a big fan of Trinisphere, which might be a mistake, so I went with Stone Rain, which seems good against Control and Tron.
I also went with 3 Scavenging Ooze in place of Relic of Progenitus because Eldritch Evolution can seek them out and they gain life.
