Thanks guys for the recent activity on the thread. I've been reading carefully all the posts and congrats on the results. Looking forward for your next tournament Raver also
I've been configurating my deck and here's what I came up with against tier 1 and 2 decks :
I'm still unsure about having 2 Architects of Will and 1 Pale Recluse... I'm somtimes thinking about having 3 SSG and cutting the landcycler, but I like having 2 landcyclers (like Twisted Abomination also). I find these cards to be my sweet spot.
What do you guys think about it? Also, I'm opened to discuss the sideboard.
Thanks !
Nice to see someone still using a Pale Recluse. I'm also using a singleton of that card... helps get the basic forest when I'm under a Blood Moon. Green is the fewest kind of mana in my deck, so having the spider really helps. The 4/5 body that can block flying isn't bad.
Weird question but has anyone ever tried lightning storm? The thing that sets dredge apart now is it's ability to come from behind and confligate for the win even facing gy hate. Wouldn't this be similar? I mean we cycle and usually get a bunch of potentially unwanted lands in our hand and its CMC works in our deck
Thanks for the reply! I really like Pale Recluse : since Jungle Weaver is outclassed by Archfiend of Ifnir now, I think it's the best landcycling creature out there. I'd really like to have a single Twisted Abomination also, but I'm feeling comfortable with the spider as of now.
Expertise is great to get control of another creature or to dump LE stucked in hand. I wouldn't play wihtout it. Also, the manabase is great, never really manascrewed.
I'm still working on the sideboard though. Any advice? I feel that we need 4 lifegain cards, 2 Shriekmaw, 2 Faerie Macabre and 2-3 Ingot Chewer.
I agree, the recluse is a good landcycler. Also wanting to put in the Twisted, but there's no more room for him in my list.
For the Burn problem.. sorry can't give much advice on that.. I only have 4 Boars for the match up. It's more like cat and mouse game in FNM's - meaning I try to avoid Burn as much as possible. Thankfully, only one person plays Burn in our LGS. If the Burn players increase, then I will bring another deck.

Another card you could try is Pulse of Murasa it's really good life gain, also you can get back a cyclers out of your gy or keep your opponent from getting something back of LE.
I ran into Lost Legacythis weekend, is there a way to play around this type of card I.e. Slaughter Games effects?
Yes, you play around it by destroying their lands with Fulminator Mage and Beast Within and casting fatties until they die. Storm may die to a Extraction effect, but LE can fight back. (even more if you run Blood Moon)
I don't know if I would bring the package against blue decks(certainly not against Jeskai), but I'm OK with that kind of trade in my turn. I can bring it back after combat with LE when they are tapped out
I believe WoTC's new policy is to make sure that every color can enjoy the exciting gameplay mechanic of making undercosted dudes and then turning them sideways. Clearly the future of magic.

Hippies went down on lands because without Fulminator and using all 1 mana cyclers you can keep a lot more hands. Gemstone Caverns against combo decks with counter spells? Or just most games you know you aren't going first?
Re: Noct
Interesting indead. I'm glad this person went where I thought the deck "could" go when spoilers came out. Basically a 5 color mana base, pick up glass dust hulk, the new curator, and swap demonic dread for ardent plea. Which is the only thing that seems odd: why not drop the dreads for plea all together? I mean I can see keeping dread because with 4 of forbidden orchard it gets a lot better and just casting it for its ability is probably better than a static exalt ability. I guess I can see dread being better than plea in this build. 4 SGGs and no F.mages is also spicy.

A lot of lists seem to have settled on 2 Archfiends being right, SSG still in the main and Faeries mainboard. Thoughts on the sideboard? Jund Charm singleton?
I've done the pre-release, game day and several drafts and i'm still one Horror of the Broken Lands short. Why can't I open a common!?
On topic, I think the deck is starting to rise in popularity and prestige. I know several players in my local scene run dedicated sideboard slots and another player is thinking of putting the deck together. I wonder how long before it starts influencing Dailies and larger tournaments. The wins like the one in Japan aren't flukes.

Probably only a matter of time before this deck is in Tier 2 again.
Hopefully, the OP of this thread also comes back soon. The primer needs to be updated with the new creatures.
Or a new one started. Not sure how MTGSalvation threads are meant to go but after 250 pages, isn't it time to consolidate, put together a new guide and start the discussion fresh? Is a decklist or sideboard guide from 2014 even useful anymore?
I msg'ed the OP the other day about updating the banner etc. He replied but it took like a week. So I'm not sure what he is waiting on or what...

I think this deck, especially with its consistent recent performances can easily qualify for tier 2 again.
The reason we dropped so low was because of Melira. Not the bad matchup(though that hurt) but that everyone was running graveyard hate.
Now with CoCo doing its thing people are dropping their usual graveyard hate for Grafdigger's Cage leaving them with fewer to no sideboard slots against us. Decks maining Relic are still a pain *cough* Tron *cough* (but that matchup isn't bad anyway).

I found that tron really isn't that bad of a match-up. Turn three Karn kinda sucks but if they are a turn late or we draw a SSG and any number of 4 fulminators and 3 beast withins can keep them off tron. Keeping them below six mana and off wurmcoil or anything threatening usually spells the end. I definitely have a positive record against the local guy that brings tron.

And I found that Kari Zev's on Wurmcoil + LE is super fun!
Noct: I would argue that Dredge is what killed LE. People ran a lot of GY hate for Dredge, which made all other GY strategies take a big hit. Melira Company was hurt by the rise of Dredge also.
ottosmagic13: In the section you quoted me it even says, "but that matchup isn't bad anyway" The Tron deck at my LGS fears my wrath.
Adamantium11: I would argue that the uphill climb started before dredge was even back as a deck. The meta was pretty bad for a while.
I think this brings into discussion that we are a really consistent combo deck. That loses to other combo decks. Granted instant speed living end disrupts quite a few of them. How do you guys board for the CoCo combo matchup? For UR Storm?
