Almost finished with my Bogles deck finally. Just missing 1 Coronet, 2 Spiritdancer, 1 hyena umbra, and 1 spirit mantle. Looking for suggestions on what to slip into their places. I'm planning 1 open the armory in the place of the coronet, basically a coronet tutor, and 2 Sram in place of the Spiritdancers. Just not sure what to put in for the other 2 cards. I'm trying to trade for them this week so I have them for friday. I don't plan on making these substitutions permanent, just enough to make the deck playable friday before I go on vacation. Once I get back my funds will be clear enough I can just order what I need.
1. If you already have two Dancers, ditch Sram and run two Silhana Ledgewalker in the other two slots. On that note, Silhana has some nice evasion, so you may not need to multiple Mantles (assuming you already have 1 and are looking for a second copy).
2. OtA is an adequate tutor, but keep in mind that you'll need 4 open mana to cast it and play Daybreak in the same turn. Other than that, I think OtA can be a decent temporary fix until you're able to get that last Daybreak. Since you're already running one OtA, you could try running two in order to compensate for the lack of full play sets of Hyena. You could also try experimenting with a number of auras that have been brought up here and occasionally can be found in tourney lists (e.g. Keen Sense, Cartouche of Solidarity, etc.; in this instance, Cartouche would give you another 'First Strike' source.
3. If you have a trade list and are interested in trading for those missing pieces, I have extras and would be happy to hammer out a trade and send everything out tomorrow in hopes that you receive them by Friday. It'll depend on your location, but if you're on the East coast in the States then they should reach you in time if sent out First Class w/tracking. PM me with a trade list if interested.
4. Regardless of how you decide to go about it, be sure to re-work your manabase if you end up substituting alternate auras/creatures for the aforementioned missing ones. For example, if you end up going with 2x Silhana, Keen Sense, and another green card, you'll want to make sure you have enough green sources and don't get flooded with white mana.
Lastly, I wish you the best with Bogles and hope you come to love it!

Thank you very much for your input! I'm running a list with only 2 SPiritdancers at the moment, and I don't have them which is why I went to Sram. I did go to 2 open the armory and went with a 3rd Spirit Link, but I'll probably change that. I'm running the Cartouche build with a full playset of those already. Keen Sense is a good call though, I'll have to check and see if I have any. I appreciate your trade offer, I wish I had seen this before I left the house this morning, but I don't have my binder with me to put together a trade list.

No problem at all. It's doubtful they'd get to you by Friday now, but just shoot me a PM if you're interested in a trade later down the road; if it's easier, I could just send you my trade-want list so you don't have to type out your whole binder. Anyway, it sounds like you should be good to go with your budget list by Friday. Albeit not as good as Spiritdancer, Sram should be a viable budget replacement; the reason I mentioned Silhana was b/c a number of lists don't actually run the full set of Spiritdancer anymore, so you could save yourself some money going with two common Silhanas. An additional Spirit Link isn't a bad choice if your meta is Burn heavy. If you have any cards from recent Standard sets, Sixth Sense could be used instead of Keen Sense.
Since you're already running a full set of Cartouche, here's some other random auras that could hold you over until you get your desired replacements: Unflinching Courage (Additional copy if you're already running one), Gryff's Boon, Angelic Gift, Indrik Umbra, Shield of the Oversoul, Glaring Aegis, Angelic Destiny, Armored Ascension, Bear Umbra, Boar Umbra, etc. Those are just a few off the top of my head that could be used as budget replacements if you own any; just keep your mana curve in mind as you put everything together. For example, I wouldn't include more than x1 copy of any card with cmc 4+; ideally you really don't want anything with cmc 4+ at all, but you'll probably want another finisher while you're still working on acquiring the last Coronet. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck to ya! I'd be interested in seeing a post-FNM report with the deck you end up putting together.
Very grateful for all the help. Looked at my binder and even though I pulled like 10 Srams I appear to have traded them all, so gotta go to a shop to get them. Luckily someone answered my local trade ad so they're meeting me there tonight and I may yet run the full list. I may keep the third spirit link in instead of spirit mantle as my meta is very burn heavy.

So wasn't able to get the cards in time so I ran the budget list, I'll update this post this evening with the list. Ended up going 2-0-1, with an intentional draw since we were the only 2-0s. We played it out for fun and won in 2.
Round 1 against Kiki chord:
Game 1 he won I kept a fast hand but he had natural combo. Games 2 and 3 he got mana screwed and I luckily had a path for his turn 2 spellskite in game 2.
Round 2 against zombie hunt was basically a bye. He had a neat sideboard plan where he sideboard dex out the infestations into a tron plan but I steamrolled him.
Round 3 was an ID, my opponent was on affinity. I took game 1 and game 2 easily thanks to removal and double spirit link both games.

Awesome! Great results for the first time piloting the deck, let alone one that's incomplete. Looking forward to seeing the list.
I brought out Bogles at FNM for the first time in a while and ended up doing fairly well in a very competitive pool. Went 3-2 over 5 rounds with 35-40 total players and an aggregate opponent win percentage of ~65%.
I can break down each matchup if anyone is interested, but this primer has been fairly dead as of late. I was hoping to go up against Death Shadow as I haven't gotten enough matches in against it to determine how well we matchup. Overall, I still think we can compete in the current meta and have favorable matchups against a number of T1 decks; a large part of this is due to our low representation in the meta and decks simply not packing much hate cards. As a Ponza player myself, I was prepared for the matchup, but simply couldn't overcome Blood Moon; he dropped it T2 the first game and in game 2 I was able to fetch my basics, but they were promptly destroyed with Stone Rains. I may have had a chance to win game 2 if my list ran more basics, but currently I only run two and i'm considering bumping it up to a third. D&T is also a deck I'm familiar with (Legacy version anyway), but early Thalias and mana screw were enough to shut me down. Here's my current list:
I really like Dissenter's Deliverance and would probably run upwards of 3 if it also destroyed enchantments. I've been going back and forth on the number of MB Leylines and settled on one for now; it sucks drawing multiples and sucks even more when it's a matchup where it's a dead card. I used to run 2x Stony, but the number of Affinity players have dropped in my meta and replaced one with an extra Suppression Field. Still need way more testing, but Cartouche really shined for me and saved multiple Bogles from Lily & Blessed Alliance; I upped the count to 2x and no longer run a second Dryad Arbor in the side. I'm gonna be starting my second year of med school in the next few weeks, so my free time will take a considerable hit, but I'm still planning on brewing a list that splashes red for Temur Battle Rage & Lightning Bolt. TBR is the main reason I want to splash, but I feel like any deck splashing red should include Bolts. Not sure how I'm going to make it work yet, but I'll be buying a PC soon in order to play MTGO and get in more testing due to my limited schedule and the fact that WoTC refuses to develop an infrastructure that's Mac-compatible. So far I'm thinking about some combination of: Utopia Sprawl, Trace of Abundance, Gemstone Mine, Mana Confluence, Stomping Ground, a 4th Temple Garden, etc. I'm definitely open to ideas/suggestions; I've been wanting to brew this up for a while, so I'll be sure to update with a final list and test results.
I'll try to post the list this evening. Left right after I posted that for vacation and just realized I didn't bring the deck with me. I'll try to post what I remember, since the sideboard was kinda screwy.
Also glad I'm not the only one running snow basics. I just picked up some Japanese P3K lands and was going to use those but then found out I didn't have any plains so I stuck with my snows.

A while ago I posted a list from a tournament I took part in. Guy got 1st place with UWR Bogles. He played 8 fetchlands, one Stomping Ground and four Temur Battle Rages. I don't think there is a need for any number of rainbow lands since you are splashing only for 4-8 cards (if you really want to add bolts also). If talking about TBR Ajani Caller of the Pride appears in some of the lists. I tested it few times and he is not that bad.

Awesome, I think I recall you posting that list. I'll definitely have to look back through the Primer while I'm putting it together. I agree with you on the rainbow lands; I think a single Stomping Ground would suffice if I end up running only 4x TBR, but I worry about land destruction if I end up running Bolt or anything else that requires red. Red gives us some nice SB tech, so that's another thing I've been mulling over. I may forego the Bolts and instead include some number of Destructive Revelry and/or Boros Charm in the SB.
I'm surprised that this deck is still alive. Don't get me wrong, I love this deck and still have my altered Kor Spiritdancer, but with the meta right now (or even prior DS), this deck will really struggle. Good luck guys!
I've had a look into this before but never made the leap... There's something to be said for TBR and cards like Madcap Skills and taste for mayhem (the latter as we ditch our hand pretty quickly)... and now there's the redshifted unstable mutation called consuming fervor so it might be worth revisiting... Although a purely RG build will likely be more vulnerable without a splash of white.
Consuming Fervor is interesting; could make Solemnity viable out of the side. A pure Gruul build isn't something I ever considered, because cutting white would fundamentally change the way our deck works. Aside from great SB options, white gives us our two best auras in Daybreak Coronet & Ethereal Armor. In the current meta, Bolt is outclassed by PtE and Push in regards to creature removal, so PtE is still a necessity. A play set of those three cards alone make it so that just a splash of white wouldn't be enough for the deck to function properly. A pure Boros build would take away 8 of our hexproof critters (or more if running Silhana). If we were to add red then I think GWr or full blown Naya is the way to go. I'm currently in the GWr camp with my brew, but Naya certainly intrigues me; we're already prone to aggressive mulligans, so adding the variable of mana inconsistency would almost definitely exacerbate the issue. On one hand, I've considered some combination of rainbow lands to shore up the mana base while running more lifelink-granting auras to compensate for the life loss. On the other hand, it may be possible to get away with running 4x TBR by adding a single Stomping Ground. The latter was the direction I had in mind at the start, but now I'm really intrigued by consuming fervor when I consider the possibility of T3 wins.
I think I'm going to play around with 4x Fervors in addition to the 4x TBRs and tinker around with the mana base in order to make it work with as little consistency issues as possible. Filter lands would do the trick, but not something we want to see in an opening hand. Suggestions?
Went 3-1 last night. The match I lost to was elves after mulligan down to 4 cards and proceeded to only draw lands. Man elves can get crazy wide crazy quick.
I'm sure it's been discussed before but the mvp for me was glistener elf. Side boarding in after game one caught so many people off guard. So much salt throwm around.
The cartouche for me was ok, first time using it. Helped against stupid liliana but haven't had it come out enough to have much of a say.
I decided to play Bogles last night at my very competitive FNM shop last night. I've never posted on this primer but I scroll through it once in awhile just to catch up on what the Bogles players are up to. I've been playing MTG a long time and even though this is not my main deck that I use at modern tournaments I'd just like to leave what advice and tips that I have to maybe preparing for going into a league or tournaments. I go to as much modern MTG tournaments as possible sometimes even 4 times a week. So I'll just leave my thoughts on the deck now.
One mistake I see many players make when they play any deck is incorrect sideboarding. Being prepared for the meta at any tournament is needed for success. Most people will netdeck thier sideboards and have a sideboard that is well rounded for many different decks. This is okay for a bigger playing field but at a 30 person Modern tournament it's quite different. For example, for the tournament I was going to I knew there was a abundance of Free Win Red, Lantern Control, and 8-rack. Well all those run ensnaring bridge which really stops our deck so I made sure to pack my sideboard with artifact/ enchantment removal. The decklists I took to the shop is as follows. (Sorry for the formatting)
Lands-19
4x Windswept Heath
4x Temple Garden
1x Forest
2x Plains
1x Dryad Arbor (I count it as a land)
1x Misty Rainforest
4x Razorverge Thicket
1x City of Brass
1x Sunpetal Grove
Creatures-12
4x Slippery Bogle
4x Gladecover Scout
4x Kor Spiritdancer
So in the main deck I decided to include 2 Suppression Fields because it slows the Lantern Control matchup game 1 if we can get it out. I dont really expect to win this matchup I want to draw to be honest. It also stops our opponents fetchlands along with our own. For some people that might bother them but I assure you it is fine. You can really play around it and Bogles really only needs to operate on 2-3 lands anyways. In the tournament it was actually really useful and slowed down my opponents just enough for me to slip in. I used to have Horizon Canopy's but I sold them when they spiked haha Nothing really else about the main deck it's pretty average.
Sideboard-
4x Leyline of Sanctity
2x Path to Exile
3x Rest in Peace
1x Spirit Link
2x Natural State
1x Fragmentalize
2x Stony Silence
So for the sideboard we have a lot of artifact hate for Ensnaring Bridge. I'll give a quick run down of what my thinking was.
Path to Exile- decks where we can take out Suppression Field and run more creature removal. Perfect for Merfolk, Mono-White Death and Taxes / Hatebears.
Leyline of Sanctity -Perfect for our 8-rack, Lantern, Burn, and Ad Nauseum matchups. Most of the time sideboard out Gryff's Boon and Spirit Mantles.
Rest in Peace- is the perfect graveyard hate card and if your running white you should always use it. Dredge, Living End, Snapcaster Control decks.
Spirit Link- we need this for when we need to gain life early and fast. Good for Burn and zoo decks.
Natural State and Fragmentalize- these are good for any Ensnaring Bridge deck. Why the split?? The answer is Surgical Extraction blows you out. Good for Free Win Red, Lantern, 8-rack
Stony Silence- any artifact deck that trys to touch use basically. Affinity and Lantern Control.
Well I've explained the whole deck list and sideboard so I'll get into the results.
ROUND 1
Lantern Control 1-0-0
It took awhile for him to kill me game 1 with suppression field on board. I didn't expect to win since he had Ensnaring Bridge out. Game 1 took around 35 minutes till I was milled out. Game 2 I have Leyline on board with Natural State in hand with a loaded Bogle on board. Thought I had it but when he got to 1 life he dropped the second bridge and kept me from drawing a second answer. Wasn't about to let this walking turd 2-0 me so we played it out till time.
Sideboard-
In- 4x Leyline of Sanctity, 2x Natural State, 1x Fragmentalize, 2x Stony Silence
Out- 2x Gryff's Boon, 3x Spirit Mantle, 2x Path to Exile, 1x Heyena Umbra, 1x Spider Umbra
ROUND 2
The best way to describe this deck I faced was that it was completely devoted to getting emrakul out as fast as possible. It was 5 colors too so really jank. 2-0
Anyways I just raced this guy as fast as I could and ended up winning both games. He was really utilizing his grave.
Sideboard-
In- 3x Rest in Peace
Out- 2x Suppression Field, 1x Path to Exile
ROUND 3
Humans Company 2-0
This is really just a slower and clunkier version of GW Hatebears and Merfolk to be honest. Game 1 my Suppression Field slowed his fetches down and I swung with a huge Bogle for the win. Game 2 I load up a big Bogle and do the same. Easy win.
Sideboard-
Even though Suppression Field helped a lot game 1 I took it out cause I'd rather have path
In- 2 Path to Exile
Out- 2 Suppression Field
ROUND 4
Grixis Delver 2-0
I didn't know this deck was still around. Game 1 Young Pyromancer was problematic but Spirit Mantle got us through. Game 2 he got stuck on 1 land and I grabbed the game easily.
Sideboard- I probably should of put Rest In Peace but I didn't see Snapcaster so I didnt do anything.
ROUND 5
Mono-White Hatebears 2-1
Game 1 Slippery Bogle was loaded up with Daybreak Coronet and Spirit Mantle. Easily slid past his creatures. Thalia can be problematic but easily defeated. Game 2 I messed up attacking into a First Strike Thalia killing my Bogle :/. My fault. Game 3 goes like Game 1 and I over him easily.
Overall I got 2nd in the tournament and took many people by surprise with this deck. Which is were I think it shines the most. I think this deck can easily take over an unprepared meta unlike others. I wouldn't change the list I really like Suppression Field in there. If I had to leave advice about playing the deck or tips all I can say is. ADJUST TO THE META!!!! Even though the meta was probably bad for Bogles with all the Ensnaring Bridge running around I took them by surprise and did well.
Basically I'm here to talk about my boarding choices and ask you guys what you think since I'm fresh to the deck.
RD 1 2-0 vs Stompy - 2 Cartouche of Solidarity, +1 Path to Exile, +1 Spirit Link
Not sure why I wanted Path here... the aura was probably better. My creatures are just better than his.
RD 2 2-0 vs UW Control - 1 Spirit Link, -2 Path to Exile, -1 Cartouche of Solidarity
+2 Gaddock Teeg, +2 Suppression Field
I saw both Gideons game 1, so I wanted Field, and Teeg shuts down Cryptic, Verdict, and Planeswalkers
I considered Mana Tithe for game 3 if I was on the play, and I would've boarded out another Cartouche.
RD 4 2-0 vs GW Tron
-2 Path, -1 Gladecover Scout,-1 Spirit Link, +2 Teeg, +2 Suppression Field
Here I thought where Stony Silence would work (Maps, Stone) Suppression Field would give me the time I needed for the two cards to be equal, but Field works against Karn and Ugin as well.
RD 5 2-1 Storm
+2 Teeg, +2 Rest in Peace, -1 Spirit Link, -1 Cartouche, -2 Gladecover Scout
This match I went in hard on alternative plans like Dryad Arbor fetch turn 1 and Spiritdancer, and it was good to practice these lines against the non-interactive decks.
I don't particularly want to argue whether Leyline is needed. I get that it probably is. But with the 75 as is, were my decisions correct in these matchups?
But with the 75 as is, were my decisions correct in these matchups?
VS Stompy: I'm not sure exactly what the stompy list looks, but in general Path is good enough against aggressive creature decks to be worth it. If I don't expect any sweepers I will generally remove Umbras instead of Cartouches.
VS UW control: Sideboarding seems reasonable, though I do like Mana Tithe here since they play a lot of spells on your turn. Countering a Cryptic Command or even a Mana Leak will often be game over. Otherwise the weakness of Mana Tithe is that it's really awkward to keep mana up with Bogles and maybe not get to use it, but against counterspells you don't need to do that.
VS Counters Company: I would not take out any Gladecover scouts here, in fact I don't think there's a single matchup where they should be taken out right now. Also again same argument with Umbra vs Cartouche.
VS GW Tron: Stony Silence definitely needs to come in here in addition to the rest, and as before keep Scouts in and probably remove all the Spirit Mantles. That card is really poor in the matchup and I would probably keep Paths in instead to handle Spellskites and to kill Wurmcoil/Worldbreaker/Ulamog if the game goes later. Mana Tithe is also pretty good here as it's easy to get them on a Karn/Ugin if they don't know about it.
VS Storm: Removing Gladecover Scout here seems like madness... you need to be as quick as possible. I would much rather remove Spiritdancers as they can get owned by Echoing Truth, but Spirit Mantle is probably worse than both.
How many lands to you all feel is the most optimal? To be honest, this is the least tinkered thing in my deck, but recently I've noticed a lot of people going sub-19. It's also nice to see people trying out Cartouche of Solidarity. The card always seems like a bit of a trap, since it turns on all of their blanked removal in game one. It's supposed to protect against edict effects, but I haven't really seen it work out that well.

Personally I play with 21 including Dryad Arbor. My feeling is that the better half of the deck is much better than the worse half, so I don't want to mulligan/lose to mana issues when I draw the good half. I'd rather cut one marginal flex spot and have better mana.
The thing with Cartouche is that even if it turns on a removal spell, that's mana spent and we do have other targets for removal. You're also getting it essentially for free and it's not like you'll regularly load it up with multiple auras unless you know it will survive. Compared to Hyena Umbra, both give +1/+1 first strike but unless the opponent has sweepers the extra effect there is useless. It mostly just comes down to how much sacrifice effects there are compared to how much sweepers there are.
I like your logic here and I'm going to make the move to 21 lands including Dryad Arbor. I usually go back/forth between 19-20 lands and I'm no stranger to mulling down to 5 at times. I've been considering the addition of another basic as a meta call (lots of Blood Moon popping up), so hopefully I can kill two birds w/ one mana and boost my consistency while I'm at it.
I'm at 19 lands, including 1 Arbor. It's working pretty well so far, usually if I'm mulling it's due to not having a creature as opposed to not having any lands. This is my current list, for those that were interested. The sideboard works pretty well for my meta.

If you're running without Horizon Canopies it makes sense to play fewer lands I suppose, as you can no longer use their cycling to get you out of mana floods.

I brought out Bogles at FNM for the first time in a while and ended up doing fairly well in a very competitive pool. Went 3-2 over 5 rounds with 35-40 total players and an aggregate opponent win percentage of ~65%.
Round 1: Scapeshift (2-0)
Round 2: Boros Burn (2-1)
Round 3: RG Ponza (0-2)
Round 4: D&T (0-2)
Round 5: UB Faeries (2-0)
1x Snow-Covered Plains
4x Horizon Canopy
4x Windswept Heath
2x Wooded Foothills
4x Razorverge Thicket
3x Temple Garden
1x Dryad Arbor
4x Slippery Bogle
4x Gladecover Scout
2x Kor Spiritdancer
2x Silhana Ledgewalker
4x Daybreak Coronet
4x Ethereal Armor
4x Hyena Umbra
4x Spider Umbra
4x Rancor
1x Gryff's Boon
1x Spirit Mantle
1x Spirit Link
2x Cartouche of Solidarity
1x Leyline of Sanctity
3x Leyline of Sanctity
2x Suppression Field
2x Rest in Peace
1x Nature's Claim
1x Krosan Grip
1x Ghostly Prison
1x Dissenter's Deliverance
1x Stony Silence
1x Path to Exile

Also glad I'm not the only one running snow basics. I just picked up some Japanese P3K lands and was going to use those but then found out I didn't have any plains so I stuck with my snows.

I'm sure it's been discussed before but the mvp for me was glistener elf. Side boarding in after game one caught so many people off guard. So much salt throwm around.
The cartouche for me was ok, first time using it. Helped against stupid liliana but haven't had it come out enough to have much of a say.
Enchantments- 27
4x Heyena Umbra
4x Spider Umbra
4x Rancor
3x Spirit Mantle
2x Gryff's Boon
4x Daybreak Coronet
2x Suppression Field
4x Ethereal Armor
Instant/Sorcery- 2
2x Path to Exile

RD 3 1-2 vs Counters Company
+1 Path, +2 Suppression Field, +2 Gaddock Teeg, -1 Spirit Link, -2 Gladecover Scout, -1 Spider Umbra, -1 Cartouche

If you're running without Horizon Canopies it makes sense to play fewer lands I suppose, as you can no longer use their cycling to get you out of mana floods.
