Tried this deck a few times and was wondering, why does it seem to have fallen out of favor recently? A few GP's ago a lot of top pros were playing it, but I almost never see it on MTGO. Afaik there haven't been any new decks or tech cropping up to hate it out, so why the drop off? Seems like a very powerful deck.

Tribe Elder is awesome. There's a reason why every single Scapeshift deck, regardless of cryptic or titan, runs 4. Chump block plus ramp is one of the best things this deck can be doing.
He's great, yes, but Explore and Coiling Oracle each have their own merits as well. I'm trying to find a happy medium.
That's a pretty interesting list, zw31&4z1g. I actually just dropped by this thread to post a link to some gameplay videos on mtgmadness that use a very similar build.
I'm most interested in the singleton Prismatic Omen and Cultivate in the main board of this deck. The author uses both to good effect in the videos, though, which is a compelling argument for their inclusion.
As to your question, what about something as simple as Nature's Claim to take up those last two spots in the sideboard? Or is the lifegain by the opponent too disadvantageous?

I strolled on over here to ask the same question. Anybody?
So here is what im working on currently for Richmond. Advice would be welcome as I expect to see a very good amount of GBx/Jund, Melira Pod and other of the more "consistantly good performing" decks.
There was the missing piece (Omen)..... When drawing up the list, I kept going back over it and kept thinking I was missing something.
A lot of the lists im seeing on mtgtop8 run 5-6 fetches, so I like being in there. And I have 13 possible cards to get me green mana on T1, 5 of which can get me set up to hold up a remand T2 as well. All scalding cant grab is the 3 basics, which I dont currently see as an issue, but I will be testing to confirm if my presumption is incorrect.
As for cutting a valakut, the average list (running Titan and Omen) runs 3.8, which shows there are a lot of 4-ofs in decks with only a couple 3-ofs. And going through Dailies, a full playset of valakut in Titan builds is the norm.
Why do so many sideboards include Gigadrowse? I'm confused as to when you would really want to bring that in.
Gut thought is that its a cheap "tap" effect that can stop twin for a turn, as well as being copied to answer other things possibly (force someone to activate a card or risk not gaining an effect from it.)
Macius - I don't know how you've found it to be in your testing, but Combust in the sideboard has always been mediocre for me. I know it's great for blowing up Celestial Colonnade but that deck is so slow that they're never actually gonna kill you with it, especially since they're not gonna want to tap out all their mana and get hit with a Scapeshift. I'd recommend a couple of Engineered Explosives in the sideboard. EE on 2 wrecks Affinity and can go a long way in staving off death against B/Gx and Pod.

I havent begun testing actually. I was just getting a rough skeleton down to begin with. All of Feburary will be my heavy testing, with this month being me getting into how the deck plays and how to board.

Maybe. It only works the turn they play Splinter Twin though, in which case I'd rather just have a bounce effect. Seems like Echoing Truth would be better vs. Twin and tokens both.

You can also use Gigadrowse on their end step to tap down their lands, removing the threat of a counterspell on the turn you plan to go off.
How have Cavern of Souls and Boseiju, Who Shelters All been in people sideboards? I haven't tried them myself and I've seen them as one-of's that look like you can only tutor them with Scapeshift or Primetime. If you resolve either Scapeshift or Primetime then shouldn't you be close to winning already?
By the way, how can Scapeshift deal with 8 Racks, especially after Waste Not become legal?
snapcaster mage to cast scapeshift from the 'yard, or any ramp spells.
explore and serum visions become pretty good. electrolyze, even though it's slow, is a sweet maindeck card which is useful against aggro and drawing cards is the answer to 8rack.
other than that, i think remanding (or better yet, spell snareing) their smallpox or whatever buys you a turn. if you can draw out the game by a couple of turns you'll have all the gas you need to win. even just dropping a land each turn until you can hardcast a titan is probably good enough. they can't interact with your wincon insofar as their removal is useless.

I would like to ask a a questions about the current scapeshift.:
What are its generally bad/good matchups and little bit of why they are bad. I really want to build this or twin and leaning to this as it seems more fun.

Well, 8 Rack has more 2-to-1 than you have counters:
*Wrench Mind
*Smallpox
*Liliana
*Raven Crime
*Some lists run a few Delirium Skeins
And when you get Hellbent (which is very likely), you will often take 3-6 damages each turn, so you have to be very lucky to find a snapcaster mage or scapeshift in time or lose the game. That's why I find this matchup brutal.

I reckon In order to beat it, we need to adopt a more midrange strategy. The blue version with cryptics goes a long way to achieving this. Their jund matchup is terrible, and I would hope we could be just as proactive as jund if we tweaked well enough. Stopping their smallpox, Bob abd soon Waste Not will mean running spell snare more proactively. Artifact/enchantment destruction with flashback is gg in our favour. We're fine.
Just remember 8rack is built to punish combo. Be more midrange and less all-in.
