I notice many still play several Baloths in their boards and bring them in against many decks. Imo they match up very poorly against any DS threats, eldrazi, to low impact against Affinity and control etch so i find it hard to justify playing them. Not to mention how few Liliana of the Veil's around in the current meta.
I have swapped to more grindy cards that's also come in against Burn like Huntmaster and Courser and they seem so much stronger. Am i missing something obvious here?
I feel you try to be way to reactive against DS. I have had the most success just trying to sneak a creature that generate me some value under their discard and stubborns. They will shred your hand regardless and the game quickly turn into a game where you more or less play from the top so you want to make sure you hit your land drops and have a higher density of higher impact cards. I've been jamming more and more Huntmasters and Coursers into my board and bring them all in against DS. I trim a scapeshift since they bring in surgicals, remands, anger and a cryptic for the creatures and RiP. I have been sideboarding in dispels to, but I'm unsure if that's the route i want to take. Glen Elendra is probably allright here to.
If anyone have any other tips for a high impact creature to bring in that generate value and can come in against several decks please let me know. Particularly if the creature cost 4 or less. Thragtusk is also great and match up well against most the threats out of DS, but it can't be searched out by BtL.
I consider jamming the a few copies of chameleon colossus into my board for the Grixis Shadow matchup. They have no removal capable of killing it, they don't play LotV and their countermagic's all stubborns. It also dodge Brutality and Inquisition. The problem is that BtL can be countered fairly easily, so might want multiple copies of the colossus if you're really worried about this matchup.
From my decklist earlier, I'm trying to figure out how to shore up the Death's Shadow MU for the Roanoke Open. Talking to a few GDS players, they're suggesting Blessed Alliance for the sideboard (what a surprise). I'm not a huge fan of Crumble (as in I've yet to play a match where it mattered) and I'm considering dropping it and the 4th Baloth for 2 Alliance. It's still good for the Burn Matchup and Crumble just doesn't seem good. How much more does it do in the Valakut and Tron matchups? I would have thought they were already favorable.
Also, what about adding in a sideboard Madcap/Emperion package? They're pulling out removal post board and I've got a heavy enough of a counterspell base to protect it. I've not gotten to play it. Thoughts?
It's probably pretty good, but Emperion being an artifact can be a problem since they are likely to keep their commands in as from their POV pushes and terminates are worse. But they only play 2 commands so if you sneak a madcap under Stubborn and they don't draw their command they are dead.
3 is an awkward spot on the curve. I'd say it's more like this or Izzet Charm. I'm still leaning towards Charm, since turn 3 is so much later than turn 2 in Modern (looks at UR Storm)
I've been theory crafting with a friends and we discussed putting 4 Leyline in the Board for the Death's Shadow/Burn matchups. You don't really see traditional jund/junk anymore and it is the discard that ends up killing our deck more than any counterspells that they can offer up. I'm considering testing out -3 baloth, -1 crumble for 4 Leyline and running it back. I'm gonna test it out at our local FNM that has a decent amount of players on Grixis and see how it goes. I'll keep ya updated.
1) Would 2 Flooded Strand and 2 Wooded Foothills would be good enough for the 4 fetches? Or even 4 Strand or 4 Foothills (heck, even 4 Mesa) in place of the traditionnal 4 Misty? I see some list recently not playing misty.
2) Some lists run 2 Scapeshift, some run 3. Is having 2 subpar or is it okay? Especially with 4 BTL.
1: It's certainly ok for you to run suboptimal fetches and it doesn't hurt you that much. I top 32'd scg charlotte with my fetches being 2 Strand 1 Foothills.
2: Scapeshift lists with only 2 tend to run more searching capabilities like Izzet Charm and Worldly Counsel. It's probably a lot more feasable with Supreme Will in the deck now.
Also, I'm all the sudden hyped for Hour of Devastation. Supreme Will has been fantastic, and RUG looks like it's getting a huge boost with Hour of Devastation as an actual boardwipe. Hour of Promise is also quite solid for Omenshift and even just 5-0'd an MTGO league as a 4 of in Titanshift.
Once I get in some more testing I may swap back to RUG instead of Bring to Light.

Thanks for the input : I'll play 3 Misty most probably as well as 2 Scapeshift and some more dig spells to find them.

I'm not sure about RUG being a good option anymore : it was designed to prey upon BG/x decks and now BTL is an amazing tutor. The deck as wanted to have access to more Scapeshift without actually drawing the namesake card! It feels bad to have it in the opening, so having four colour gives us more answers when needed and we can tutor it up!

Anyone have any info on the card?

So what do y'all think?
For 1 extra mana it can be Worldly Counsel or Mana Leak
As far as spoilers go, I'm rethinking my opinion on Supreme Will. I think it'g going to replace Worldly Counsel.
Then we have the newest spoiler, Hour of Promise. This seems like it slots immediately into the RUG Omenshift versions, right?
Nah. We don't need a five mana ramp spell when a 2 mana one will do fine, and scapeshift itself is four mana with a better effect.
At four mana, this would start to look a bit more interesting.
Getting any land is obviously nice, but I've been more into the idea of running shefet monitor than stuff like this, of late.
(in fact, in my rug Omenshift deck I am running 1x monitor as an experimental threat that in a pinch can ramp and draw at instant speed uncounterably)

sharing my RUG version of the deck. Anticipate + Supreme Will easily finds Scapeshift. Mana is more stable and it is more tempo-ish.
