So my LGS has got modern nights up and running again and I have gone 3-1, 3-1, 4-0 so far this month. Perhaps its my local metagame but the deck is feeling good atm.
With this. I don't even have all the cards I wanted yet.
I cut the four drop creatures completely for supreme will. Since I still have tailsmans (and gearhulk) I have plenty of artifacts. My sideboard is heavily skewed towards beating aggressive decks.
I just picked up a walking ballista not sure what to cut and side or main. I am still looking to get an engineered explosives at some point, but ratchet bomb isn't all that much worse. And of course more chalices.
I have been impressed with field of ruin, I think perhaps the GQ will just be cut probably to put Tec edge in the main and the ballasta in the side. I wasn't impressed with gemstone caverns so I cut it for urbog, although that is also meh, just so those dismembers don't hurt so much (plus bonues from sundering titan non basics)
Opps there are 4 thirst, I was trying to remember off the top of my head, and 3 condescend. Better to have less x spells with gearhulk.
Oboro is just not worth the money, its a tiny edge that almost never comes up. Minamo is also irreverent but I got one for my commander deck so just in case.
23 land is fine, before everyone else replaced the talismans it was the norm.
Week 1. Mono black vampires (w), Humans (l), Bant Eldrazi(Draw, opponent scooped because it messes up the prize structure), Bring to light Scapeshift (w)
Week 2. BW tokens (w), Temur Scapeshift (l), Dredge (w), Abzan (w)
Week 3. GW company (w), Temur Scapeshift (w), Storm (w), Eldrazi tron (opponent scooped to go home)
There seems to be a lack of aggro (although I am ready for it), Plenty of fair decks, Scapeshift (It was the same player all three weeks those were good games) and there was a lot of storm this week. The meta shifts a little depending on who turns up.
There is probably few more mid range decks than normal because my store is trying to entice the standard players into modern, standard players play midrange. But there is plenty of players there that have been itching for more modern bringing thier foiled out decks.
@Maxwell
good luck for he tournament. would like to read ur reports!!!
@cruzkontrol
resolvt geist is obv realy hard to beat.
In some cases u are super lucky and can block with a snapcaster they dont except from us. else we only can buy us turns to sling some havy mana spells by repealing the angel token over and over again.
Sadly, G3 of the last match was not winable, he was on the go and had 8 mana in turn 4 for double scapeshift cast.., so sad to lose against nutdraw, especially bc I had summary dismissal in hand, just one mana short because I was on the draw.
All in all I am happy with the result and with the changes I made to my previous lists (will post my list on monday, bc I will play Standard Mainevent tomorrow as well).
Payron_ger gratz on ur finishtwo questions:
1)How is Spell Burst performing for u and how good is Ceremonious Rejection?
2) payout this time was good in mkm series?
Guys quick question - in which matchups You like to side in crucible of worlds? Where You like this card? Control/opposite tron decks (or against ponza maybe?). I ask about traditional (lets say "usual) use and some experimental techs based on Your experience
This is my modern deck, long time lurker on the forums. Been playing online for a while.
I am never sure what to do with the sideboard, not my strong suit.
-Flashfreeze for red/green matchups
-Mana Leak for burn
-Extra Cyclonic rift for aggro
-Condescends probably to fill it up
-Spreading Seas for counter tron and other land hate
-Summary Dismissal for storm
In the main deck, I like the 2 Wurmcoils and 2 Ugins. Both of those cards are really consistent and I love drawing into these cards.
Trying out anticipate and supreme will. May replace them as I'm not terribly happy to draw into them.
Curious on the land base, not sure if i should try more blue, as I do run 3 talismans.
I expected to face a lot of aggro matchups such as Human, Affinity, Mardu Midrange and stuff, that´s why i´ve decided to cut Gearhulk for a second Snapcaster, added a second Ugin and a second O-Stone.
All in all I was pretty happy with the list above, thinking about how good all is dust could be instead of a second stone.

Hi and welcome to the thread!
To your list: with 4 Thirst, 1 supreme and 4(!) remand, 2 treasure mages and 2 repeal, I don´t see a point also playing anticipate. I would rather fill up the slots with the condescend which are, at least for me, most of the time the best counter for our needs.
Also, in 90% of the time I feel ruins beeing better than TecEdge nowadays. Can you explain why not playing a single copy of O-Stone?
Hi boys, it might not be the right forum for that but i have a question (Since i play U-Tron).
I played today with somefriends and i had a problem with a cryptic command. The player choose to bounce my Wurmcoil Engine and in response, i pay one blue and select my Spellskite. Question is, is cryptic command still resolving? I know that both targets are legal, but the target that was suppose to be resolve is no longer viable cause the target is changed. Its like Ricochet Trap, if you choose counter-draw and the spell you selected is not legal because there is another instant spell which is redirecting the effect to Ricochet, the target is illegal.
Maybe the problem is with the "illegal" target or i have a fail in comprehension or a misunderstanding of the rule. If im right on what i say, can you post the rule please?
Thank you in advance.
As I see it, your Spellskite will be bounced as it is a legal target and the opponent will draw a card off the CC, if he/she chose to do so. If you choose to redirect to Spellskite a Lightning bolt, it deals 3 damage to Spellskite (obviously). If Lightning bolt also said "draw a card" (it would be beyond overpowered)) your opponent will also draw the card. That is what happens with CC if they choose to draw and to bounce your Wurmcoil and you redirect it to your Spellskite.
By the way MonotedBoss just click on ur own link of spellskite for some rulings. U just gave urself the correct answer behind the link.
@Maxwell do u regret any choice u made after the event? For example the second ugin, explosives, second stone, no Talisman.
Would u change anything for further events like GP Lyon?
@did we have somewhere hiding an "up to date!" matchup analysist? Like we are favoured vs xyz and so on
thx Alex & Max
Well, I already have one crucible but I'm not in "gifts package" family - have to say that I didn't found crucible so good enough to spend a slot in SB for it (nowdays it's my 3rd dismember).
Some other thought: I run 1 mainboard gemstone caverns and 1 in the SB...I've got great times playin with these lands I've ran 1 gemstone caverns (in about 2015/2016) but I didn't remembered it well - the second one (boarded on draw) works wonders The burn/fast aggro matchups are really nice with gemmie...heh casting chalice in the first turn of the game is nuts (condescending/remanding stuff also :P).
So plz forgive me gemstone caverns Shame on me that I blame You for randomness and my poor plays.

Nope I did not and was never a Talisman fan tbh. The second Ugin is beyond awesome imo - the only thing I would think of is replacing the second O-Stone with one copy of All is Dust - but I´ve not yet tried it.
Other than that I would most probably bring this list to Lyon if the meta does not change drastically until mid Feb.
I could have easily gone 7-3/8-2 but made a harsh misplay against DnT and got out-lucked by Scapeshift in G3.

Regarding your manabase, with 9 blue sources you are on the higher side of the basics. A lot of lists (including mine) are playing around 6-8 basic islands. You are also playing talisman as blue sources, so you could probably even cut basics for utility lands without having a lack of blue (Tolaria West, Oboro, Palace in the clouds, Gemstone Caverns or even River of Tears if you want to include Dismember, Engineered Explosives or Surgical Extraction).
I see you are also lacking single-target removal like Dismember or Spatial Contortion which could be worthy additions to main as well as the SB.
