Congratulations!!
How many players were there/how many rounds?
I have a question: What do you run Izzet Staticaster for? I've been looking at it and thinking that Ceremonious Rejection might be a good alternative - against Bant Eldrazi and Affinity in particular...
Thoughts?
Probably not the best aproach, but what you think about Baneslayer against Eldrazi decks, they go light in removals and maybe can help us against abzan midrange (not a good MU). I test runed halo a lot of times and the card is great against boogles, infect, burn (eidolon), and valakault, but i dont think is a great card against eldrazi...
About AV, great question... i dont test them in SB yet, but when we want (excepct obvius MU like Jund, Abzan and Nahiri) and, we want thos card over othe roption in this MU (over wraths, big wincons and counters).
Where is Greatnate and his team !!!!!?
Eldrazi still run 4 path to exile and 1-2 dismember... That is about a 50% chance of opening with at least one removal. By the time you cast baneslayer they probably already have removals waiting for you. The problem with this match-up is that your removals (+ counters) don't line up well while theirs do. So you need some big bomb like Elspeth SC to stabilize, though it's 6-mana. It's too bad but this deck is not well positioned in the meta right now.
Runed halo completely shuts off seer and smasher. I don't see how that isn't good. It is not going to be good if you are trying to win with geist so obviously take those out games 2 and 3. Geist isn't going to be good unless you run some valorous stance.
The question of running AV depends on how many cards you an afford. You shouldn't be running less than 3 at any times, whether it's from the main or from the side. If you have a bunch of Supreme Verdicts, Runed Halo, etc. a lot of good cards from the side, then you probably have no room to spare for AV. Also be careful of Chalice of the Void, so consider some number of Engineered Explosives or artifact hate (also relevant for Spellskite).
In addition, running Ancestral Visions doesn't matter much when the cards in the deck already match somewhat poorly with theirs. The key is to run a few cards that can 2-for-1 them and win from there. Maybe the more relevant question is whether we should still run counterspells against them. Without cavern, they are some of your best answers. With it, awful.
It was 5 rounds, not sure how many players. Izzet staticaster was mostly for infect, affinity, token decks, and elves. Ceremonious Rejection seems fine vs Affinity but bad vs Eldrazi, as they will usually have a Cavern in play. I've thought about using it for the Tron and Lantern matchups in particular.
Unfortunately I have the feeling after a short period in which we were decently positioned in the meta, our situation got worse. Right now we are pretty bad positioned mainly because of Bant Eldrazi. It's not simply a bad MU, it's an abysmal MU. It's as bad as Tron if not even worse. In addition to that, the Valakut/Breach decks are also bad MU and solidly present in the meta. They got worse MUs 'cause now most of them don't rely on having to cast Scapeshift to win and they are more explosive. Some "rogue" decks are increasing in popularity lately, and they're all negative MUs, some of them even very negative. These decks include Bogles, Storm and Unstorm variations, Grishoalbrand. Dredge is a bit better, but still, not quite the type of deck you'd like to face as you usually will lose game 1 and have to rely on drawing hate cards post board.
There are many hostile decks for us right now.
That sums up the experience of this deck. Maybe it's time to main some 3-4 Runed Halo as these are excellent in all those match-ups (except Tron).
IMO, Spell Queller is not what we want in modern. I agree with TheAller.
About your question, i understand your argumments, but against affinity, infect and death shadow our MU are very good with our removal package. Geist is a fast clock for non interactive MU, and can close all the games very fast. If you play geist in turn 3 against infect at sorcery speed and they kill you, dont blame the card, blame the pilot.
Against jund... geist is not very good... but queller sucks... they have a lot of removals against him and the tempo difference can be very small.
Maybe im wrong and some players can make a good build witth queller... but IMO geist is simply better in our deck.

Modern: Jeskai control / Jeskai Geist
Death and taxes / UW control
1. 25th land
2. 2nd Eiganjo Castle
3. 3 sideboard Rabblemaster for pressure on less interactive decks like Scapeshift, Ad Nauseum, Living End and Tron
4. 4 Blessed Alliance in side for Burn, Infect, Bogles, Death Shadow and Bant Eldrazi
-I dont like Rabblemaster, we have geist and clique for pressure against that kind of decks. i prefer another clique than a rabblemaster.
-I miss some negate or dispel in SB.
-Maybe i cut 1 or 2 blessed alliance and play another wrath and a Big elspeth. You can have a better MU against jund, help against bant eldrazi and the other MU are positive for us (except boogles but you have 2 supreme, 2 blessed, 2 engineered and 1 anger).
I've been on the spell-queller plan for months now. I currently play a Geistless version of the list.
I've never been a big fan of Geist preferring to play all my creatures at instant speed.
Personal preference. I've been having alot of success with spell queller.
His choice to cut restoration angels (instead of geists) for spell quellers is interesting. I may have to do further testing to see how viable this is.
I ended up X-3 at the open, being knocked out of day two round 9 by Jacob Baugh.
I've been testing with the list that got 6th at SCG Milwaukee, and I've been quite impressed with Spell Queller's performance. The only changes I've made so far are trimming the Cavern for an extra Snare, and switching the Aven Mindcensor for a Lavamancer. I like 23 lands in the deck since there are only 2 four-drops.
I want to put a resilient threat in the sideboard for the GBx MU, but haven't settled on one yet. What are people's preferences these days on Keranos, Sphinxs Rev, or Elsepth?

Out of those 3, I would definitely recommend Elspeth, Sun's Champion. The card is generally excellent against GBx. The worst case scenario is they untap and dreadbore or maelstrom pulse after you've genereated 3 soldiers. You can make an argument for Keranos now that Nahiri, the Harbinger is seeing less play, but Elspeth still has an more immediate impact.

Spell Queller is an amazing card. Several months ago I actually posted the possibility of cutting Geist of Saint Traft for it.
I've gotten alot of flack for that decision, but I still stick by it. I've been having termendous success without Geist of Saint Traft.
So far I've top 4ed two PPTQs, a modern 1k, and a modern 2k. With the following list. At Milwaukee I was knocked out of day two Round 9 by Jacob Baugh.
One of my biggest reoccurring problems with the deck is mana. Due to relying on Restoration Angels as the primary win condition, the curve is much higher.
Two of my losses were vs dredge inwhich I kept a two hand land (on the draw) and never saw a 4th land.
Although I do not like Geist of Saint Traft, the top 8 Jeskai Flash from the SCG open gave me a crazy idea: you can cut Restoration Angel for it.
Not only does this give the deck a slightly faster clock, but it also lowers the curve making mana screw less of an issue.
In hindsight, if I am not playing geist (and x3 restoration angels instead) I should be playing 25 lands.
With that in mind... this is the new version of the deck I am testing (with geist)

Depending on how far behind you are, Keranos can be better given that they can't Pulse it away. I've won some games against Jund where they were firmly in the driver's seat simply because of the card advantage from Keranos. But both threats have their merits.

Another resilient CA generator to consider is Thassa, God of the Sea. Her effect is very similar to Keranos... Thassa can help fix your draws early, and can help to give consistent damage that can cut through lingering souls. Not to mention, there will be that 1 in 100 game where she can become a creature. The biggest downside I can see is that she can get hit by inquisition. Has anyone tried her out?

Your list looks really solid, but weak to lingering souls. Maybe trim down a Blessed Alliance or Verdict in the side to fit in either a Izzet Staticaster or Engineered Explosives? I like how you've cut the Snares completely for more Remands and Leaks. I'm tempted to do it myself, but afraid to take the leap.

I honestly don't fear longer souls. It's very rare to ever see it in the current meta.
Abzan plays it, but vs them I'm brining in verdicts anyways. The only deck I would want ststicaster in is vs tokens and infect (infect is already a great matchup).
Also from my experience: lingering souls is less impressive when you have both spell quellers and restoration angels st your disposal.
I haven't really feared that card in a very long time. (Ever since I dropped nahiri and added quellers)
Edit: I've considered cutting 1-2 remands/leaks for snare. Being able to counter turn two plays from dredge on the draw is very helpful. (Or any other deck that relies on tapping out turn 2)
