I'd actually recommend changing 1 Plains to 1 Cavern. I just don't want to pay that much money for a 2nd copy of Cavern on MTGO.
You can name Human with one copy and Kor with the other.
I'm thinking SB. Unless sweepers are dominating the format... That seems like a very unlikely thing though. It doesn't seem good against
Prowess: what do you name? 1 then they kill it and deal you 3.
Tron: do you name 3,7, or 8?
Shadow: ...
Control: I suppose 2,3, or 4.
D&T: easy 1.
Jund: feels like 1.
When you check MtgTop8 you can see that all Legacy DnT decks that did well over the last months had 1 or 2 copies main and even more in the SB.
I think 1 or 2 copies would be a good addition main since you'll know what your opponent is playing until turn 3.
Against Tron I'd name 7 I guess, against Karn and All is Dust.
Against Control: 4 - against Cryptic, Jace and Supreme Verdict
Against Combo: 0 - to prevent Living End or Summoner's Pact
Against Jund I'd name 2, since it stops Wrenn and Six, Eliminate, Assassin's Trophy/Abrupt Decay, or 3 if they already have W6 to stop Lily and K-Command
Against Burn and UR Prowess naming 1 can buy enough time to get to Batterskull, and naming 2 in game 2 stops artefact hate (Smash to Smithereens, Wear, Abrade)
Against Dredge: 2 - to stop Cathartic Reunion and Life from the Loam
Against Eldrazi Tron naming 4 stops pesky Karn, the Great Creator
And don't forget that my deck runs 29 creatures. If they use removal turn 1 and/or 2 they might not have an answer to this card right away...
Good points. And not discounting your statement. Just throwing out that legacy and modern are two entirely different formats. It's a little easier to hate on legacy with this card than modern. Imo. But including them main could be the correct decision.
Legacy uses the same cards to win typically and uses the superior CA and manipulating to find the cards. Modern feels more spread out.
New results since the last ones I posted:
2-0 vs Goblins
2-1 vs Vizier Druid Combo
0-2 vs G Tron
2-1 vs Orzhov Stoneblade
0-2 vs GB Elves
1-2 vs Hardened Scales
2-0 vs Yawgmoth Toolbox
2-0 vs Hardened Scales (opponent had two unlucky mulligans)
Three more losses but still on track.
So now I am 70-21, nine more matches until I reach 100 and I need to win five to achieve my goal: a 75% win rate in a total of 100 matches (just like with the Vial version).
It's interesting that I am doing really well against other Stoneblade decks. So far I played:
2-0 vs Bant Stoneblade
2-0 vs UW Stoneblade
1-2 vs Squirrel Stoneblade
2-0 vs Abzan Stoneblade
2-1 vs Mardu Stoneblade
and now
2-1 vs Orzhov Stoneblade
That's also something I like about playing in MTGO tournament practice: there are so many different decks!
Played a few more matches:
2-1 vs Mono Green Devotion
0-2 vs UG Tron
2-0 vs Urza Thopter Sword
1-0 vs UW Control
2-0 vs Mono Green Devotion
2-0 vs UB Rogues
2-0 vs GW Bogles
After the Tron game I added 1 copy of the new Elite Spellbinder for a Ranger-Captain main.
And since I bought a card on Cardhoarder I used the opportunity to finally add a 2nd Cavern of Souls to the deck.
The Spellbinder actually won me a game against the Urza deck.
76-22 - two more matches to go but I made it to 75% again!
sweet deck stevo. noticed it on mtggoldfish. great results.
Hi WickedApp, yeah, I asked Seth to add it to the FishTank
Have you found a good Jeskai build for the current Modern meta? Even though I am on mono white now it's sad to see that the Jeskai Tempo primer is dead.
Btw, STX has not been good for my deck so far.
Take the Dredge match-up for example:
Before Strixhaven
2-0 vs Dredge
2-0 vs Dredge
2-1 vs Dredge
After they added Thrilling Discovery
0-2 vs Dredge
0-2 vs Dredge
Ouch!
Now I really need to add RiP to my SB.
I have also lost my last two matches against Heliod Combo. Maybe I'll add Deicide to my SB as well
Could play that, but erase may just be better. Reason I say that is you can make it look like you didn't use your Mana efficiently. The more you leave open the more obvious it is.
Just exiling one Helod is typically good enough. You are an aggro deck so they don't exactly have time to dig. Yes some games they will have multiples but how often do you lose because you have to spend your whole turn holding up 2 Mana instead of half that amount?
I am still playing this deck but since STX came out my win rate is not at 75% anymore.
Here are a few upadates:
- tested Spellbinder but I am not that happy with him
- added my beloved Elspeth back main instead of Sun Titan
- switched one Path for an Ephemerate which is good with quite a few creatures in the deck
- added Linvala to the SB because I hate these Heliod decks
- since I had a Vista I added it for deck thinning
Here's the current version:
Today I won a nice match against Jund and I uploaded games 2 here and game 3 here for your viewing pleasure.
A few days ago I lost a match against Jund DS utilizing this new card: Tend the Pests
Love it! Sacking a Shadow in response to Path to get like nine Pest tokens...brilliant
This seems like the best new addition for my deck so far.
But what should I take out? Maybe switch the Champions of the Parish for these?
Or go all in on Humans again with this and Champion of the Parish and add Thalia's Lieutenant again?
Much testing needs to be done
So I've tested with the new cards and ended up with this:
Cut down on the SFM package in favor of more creatures (31), especially more Humans (19).
So far I am very pleased with this new version.
Yesterday I won against the new Enchantress deck, today against the new Urza's Saga Affinity deck.
Hi,
because of the crazy power creep with MH2 my win rate went down to 50%.
But last week I found a sweet combo and implemented it in my deck.
Tested it on MTGO and was very pleased so I bought it in paper too.
Here's what I'll take to FNM tomorrow:
As soon as Magistrate and Mask are both in play, if the opponent has no answer in hand, the game is over.
I am still testing if the Humans synergy with Lieutenant is powerful enough. If so I can sell my SFM package and put a few hundred USD more in crypto
Basically I have to decide between
SFM package (light): 3x SFM, 1x Batterskull, 1x Kaldra
or
SFM package (full): 4x SFM, 1x Maul or SoF&I, 1x Batterskull, 1x Kaldra
or
Humans package: 4x Thalia's Lieutenant, 4th Champion of the Parish, 1x Thalia, Heretic Cathar
The Humans package was too weak, so I am back to SFM.
The cards next to the lands are my "control" package. The JP card is Mana Tithe.
Magistrate has good synergy with Mask and with Spellbinder.
Ajani and Mila are basically flex spot fun cards. I could add a 3rd Ranger-Captain, an Elspeth, or a Maul of the Skyclaves instead...
IDK how often you hit that combo, but the individual parts of the combo look weak on their own. I'd typically rather see more individual power in those slots. To me modern isn't the power level of a 2 Mana 1/3 do nothing card. 🤷
Well, at least it shuts down Cascade/Suspend
I was able to beat all the Mtgtop8 Tier 1 decks with my deck on MTGO even though I don't always win.
But with all the new white goodies in Midnight Hunt I guess I'll be playing a completely different deck again after launch. Intrepid Adversary, Fateful Absence, Sungold Sentinel, Sunset Revelry all beg to get tested!
You can name Human with one copy and Kor with the other.
is going to be the Buy-a-Box promo!
That's another very good white Human to add to the deck
Prowess: what do you name? 1 then they kill it and deal you 3.

The possibilities in mono white are nearly endless
Brought Back is such a wonderful card with Solitude, Ranger-Captain, Selfless-Spirit, Flagstones, fetch lands, and Planeswalkers!
