As all you know I'm always brewing for new decks and tying to innovate so I usually post here the decks that at least have some success.
For some time I've tried to build a deck using training grounds (yes, another training ground deck) but don't want to do the same things ather people does so I try to build my own path.
Also because I like red a lot I wondered what happens if I try to build a izzet deck that works wonders with grouns and that don't fold if you can't find one. Also because I want to innovate, then no izzet guildmage manamorphose combo is included here.
After lot of testing I've developed a list that is working very very good and that does obscene things with grounds out but works fine also without grounds.
Because the deck can't rely only in training grounds I serched for another plan that fits well here and found that red devotion is perfect for this deck so cards try to fulfill both roles. Because of that I added Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx so I have plenty of mana because Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx or I have a great reduction because grounds (or a festival with both). Because of that I use creatures that benefit from cost reduction and that provides devotion for plan B.
In the testings this deck performs really good. Also have aouts for lot of situations and side can cover the blanks against other strategies that it can fold to.
Anyways there are some doubts I have so far:
1) Does lightning bolts worthwhile?: It can sound blasphemous but I found lot of situations were I wssihed bolt was another thing. Only 3 damage for a card which costs R is not good enough :P. Seriously, I think another 1 mana drop would be better (preferably creatures). I've tested lot of things (i'll post them later) but didn't found a good replacement to it.
2) The deck would benefit form more card advantage. Light up the Stage is being superb, but Faithless looting is not being good, mostly mediocre, because the deck doesn't benefit from using graveyard at all. I thought on including some demigod of revenge or flamewake phoenix, but don't want to rely on graveyard because all grave-hate you can find and also because they didn't benefit from the main plans and only provide devotion
3) Should I include braid of fire for more fun? It sounds useless most of the time and also slow so I discarded it without testing it but may I be wrong?
4) I'm working on SDB. Right now I think I should play some kind of grave-hate (not sure what), Blood Moons, shattering Spree or by force to wreck affinity and the so and prbably some number of bonfire of the damned.
Later I'll continue writing but all your help is welcome!!
Lot of thanks!!
