I am new to Modern Magic, only started playing with Ixalan. But I had an idea and an archetype in mind for a deck, and I am looking for help developing it for FNM and small swiss tournaments around town.
As quoted from the deck building website,
"My idea is to get a LOT of cats out, with equipment on some of them, pump the counters up to make them deadly, make some 'kittens'(the token cats), put more counters out, and swing for damage. As an alternate win condition, I was planning on running Ordeal of Heliod with Felidar Sovereign in case the game goes late. Is this something I should worry about?
Please Help! I am not that familiar with current meta so I am not sure what removal or counters I need to play.
As I am new, I do not have many of the dual land or fetch lands. Basically anything over $USD 20 I cannot afford. Please be budget conscious in your suggestions!"
If you are able, please give suggestions on what would be good combo's or things I should definitely cut? I appreciate any assistance.
Thanks for the reply Dennis14, appreciate it! I have a few different 'ETBT tap for 2 colors' cards, how do I know which ones to put in with the rest of the lands? And as far as the 60 card deck, yes, I understand, I was hoping for suggestions on what plays better together or which ones are obvious cuts? Thanks again for the reply.

Hey, glad to see youre enjoying the game and want to get into an eternal format! Its always a treat to see new players with interesting ideas.
First of all, id reccomend shoring up your base deck construction. In most constructed formats, its reccomended you have exactly 60 cards in your main deck. This increases your chances of seeing the good cards you want to play, as well as hitting land drops and generally will make your deck much more efficient. So that would be my first reccomendation to you. Trim to 60. Secondly, only 16 land is going to be a big problem with the decks variance. In an aggro build with a curve capping out at 3 mana creatures, i would reccomend no less than 20 lands. For your purposes, probably closer to 22. Since youre on a budget, i would reccomend a combination of basic lands, and good utility lands you already have(such as Gavony Township), and a couple of purchased nonbasics. I would point you towards the checklands first of all, such as Sunpetal Grove and Clifftop Retreat. They are perfect for players on a budget, and have been reprinted many times, and can therefore usually be found for 3$ or less each, and are very effective for the cost. If you want to upgrade them later in time you could go with shocklands like Temple Garden or Sacred Foundry if youre feeling you want to invest. Lastly, i would advise to choose a firm color base before building. If you want to stay strictly budget, Mono White is technically feasible, but not very competetive. Medium would be a Green/White Build, and on the expensive end would be Naya (G/W/R).
Best of luck in your endeavors! I hope this can help, and enjoy your games
With the Sigarda's aid, I can flash and equip my cats in one shot which is why I was putting in the kitties who get bonus's based on being equipped. No one has mentioned this idea yet, is that to mean it's not competitive or just not worth using equip at all?

It would generally be considered uncompetetive.
Might i suggest Leonin Shikari instead if you want an equipment package?
But yes, in general equipment is weak. Most strong equipment in modern is banned or out of your price range. Batterskull and the Swords cycle are really the only things that see play outside of casual Kor based equipment decks.

And you can't play only 16x lands with such a high mana curve and should trim the deck down to 60x cards.

Cheers !
