I'm not saying you are wrong but there is a huge difference between a cantrip and a tutor. I have seen MANY times stirrings has been forced to get something totally irrelevant in lists including tron lists, lantern and various eldrazi decks (mostly bant). It's highly possible I am indeed being way to ambitious. I just don't see if you are playing BG to not play goyf or at least liliana. I understand if you are on a processor plan there is some anti synergy but as a 3 of goyf will never be dead for you.
As a funny side note, months ago I posted my GB eldrazi list in the bg rock thread and was told by a moderator not to post it there as: "while it shares some cards, it is in no way a GB or GBW rock deck and should be moved to one of the eldrazi threads". They obviously don't understand what a rock deck is but I just thought it was funny that at least you agree with me in a sense.

I just think that Ancient Stirrings is probably the best card in the deck (and what makes this better than the B/W Eldrazi deck)
that I focus on building around it to maximize its usefulness, in my deck it has 50/60 hits pre-board (more than Tron).

HA! You must be doing something right if both places say you don't belong!
To speak to D90Denis14's point, Getting back into the game and I was looking at a BG build and looking for 7-8 beaters in the 4 drop slot. I just couldn't find anything better than TKS and Reality Smasher. I've been fish-bowling a couple of options in the 2 drop slot: Elvish Visionary, Sylvan Ranger and Sylvan Scrying which all seem a bit worse than Ancient Stirrings or maybe even Oath. Still it seems the deck wants a bit of something for consistency. Blue for Serum Visions and Spellskite out of the board seems too greedy. As a BG shell, I find the colorless mana really is like it's own splash. Also was looking at Nissa, Voice of Zendikar in that "recursion chump blocker" role. Also would push the eldrazi over the top in the mirror.
I'm worried about Burn and Tron. Sylvan Scrying would help with Tron, I think. It would also mean no issues with fixing.
Since you aren't running relic, or at least that I saw it seems your MD GY hate is minimal. I would highly highly say go with 4 goyfs. That card is just king. I think you made a good choice cutting the 2 sylvan scrying, card seems weak. I like the 5-6 traverse/stirrings much better.
I also think 2 nissa in SB are probably pretty bad. I understand budget is potentially a concern but I would really recommend damnations and tendrils. I can DEFINITELY see 2-4 wipes in your SB depending on your meta. Elixir of immortality also seems weak and counter intuitive to the direction of the deck. Is it primarily for lifegain? If so I would recommend something like feed the clan since it won't mess with your GY.

All good points. I figured Nissa would be good against go wide decks and put me over the top in the mirror. Will definitely be working a couple Damnations in. Yes, elixir is there for the burn matchup. I figured being able to grab it with Stirrings was good which is why I went with it over Feed the Clan. Goyfs are on the lists after the last 2 catacombs. I just need to space them out bc Life. Never sorry to see a Scooze though and since Fetches can't grab a colorless source, I figured Goyf wouldn't be as good as it could be but I suppose I just rely on the opponent's yard for that. As someone in the shop said, "Goyf isn't ever going to be wrong."

g1 he dumps his had and I manage to peel an etched champ from his hand. I repeat the process on t2 snagging another and then land lili t3 which for some reason he ignores thinking he can just race my 7/8 goyf. turns out lili ult screws him pretty bad and i easily beat him. g2 I just have the right removal, play it save and beat down. Luckily both games he never drew champion, not that I'm super afraid of that given I have eldrazi but still. never saw a plating either. without those, it was pretty easy game.

r3 death and taxes
this is a great player who's been playing this deck forever. Has lots of blade splicers, finks, wisps etc. g1 we have a 30 minute match where I finally squeek it out. Mirran crusader held off a 12/12 scooze for most of the game while we both drew lands. collective brutality finished him off. g2 I get trounced pretty fast by a timely RIP. g3 we go to time but my hand was slow and with a t2 thalia slowing me down even more I struggle to catch up. I barely saw any eldrazi outside reshapers in g2 and 3 which made me super sad. I also drew a lot of lands these 3 games. Good games though.
2-1
r4 burn
g1 I make a huge mistake and play a liliana hoping to snag his last card in hand instead of playing a second goyf. If I had thought about it the chances of me getting a sorcery are super low as he would have just played it. Rookie mistake. Turns out I was 1 turn behind he rips a bolt to kill me. g2 I play bunch of discard and go to town on him. He has a slow hand with path and relic which is totally ok with me. g3 he's stuck on 1 land but keeps ripping dudes and bolts. I manage to stabilize at 9 life and play scooze going up to 10 life. he has 3 bolts in hand but I have lethal attackers and he was super bottle necked by 1 land. That 1 extra life form scooze saved me lol. still. He would have killed me had I not topdecked a TKS at the perfect time. I suppose a brutality or EE would have helped as well.
3-1
I end in 5th missing the cut but still make some prizes and end the night with 2 promo push. Not a bad haul. Had good games and played well over all. I do enjoy this deck. I do wish there was more card advantage in it or draw or filtering. I guess this is just the problem with GB in general. Can't have everything I guess. Scooze was the MVP of the night. I barely saw smasher and TKS was fine. reshaper in my D&T matchup flipped me a lili last hope which killed 3 dudes, saved 4 life and got back the reshaper. not too shabby lol. Multiple games I had 6/7 nand 7/8 goyfs. I can't decide if I like oath or stirrings. Case can be made for both. Currently I think oath is better in my list since eldrazi are more of a splash. I haven't played this deck in a while and noticed I was flooding in quite a few games. For now I'll chalk it up to variance but could be a case to cut a land.
Best moment of the night was when I ghost quartered his flagstones of trokair for 0 value thanks to the leonin arbiter in play. Laughs were had I felt great even though it made no difference in the game.
my babies! I really need to work on pimping out my manabase. Most of my main is foil or signed but my lands blech. Just need those pesky reshapers in foil to match the others

Went 3-1 last night with a more controlling version. Lost against GDS but also won against it. Other wins were UW Control and some BW grindy brew. Saw my Singleton Goyf 3 games. So good. Need more Goyf...
Some suboptimal choices but it does feel powerful. Trying to improve the CoCo matchup and I think Tron will just be Tron but there are outs to just about everything. It's a super fun deck to play.
There are a couple suggestions I can make to your mana base right away. First, I really don't feel you need 6 fetches especially considering you only have 4 fetchables and you don't need 3 colors of mana. I feel like a couple could go to more ghost quarters. I run 3 and have loved it. 3 combined with 3 fulminators and a pithing needle in the SB have really helped my tron matchup. I've been debating surgicals and hoping to live the dream of destroying a tron land and then surgical.
I've been highly debating adding in a wastes myself but I'm still on the fence. I certainly need to pick up a twilight mire. If your meta is high on path I can certainly see wastes. Even now and then it dodging a moon seems fine but that's super unreliable as you have no way to get it. I would probably only consider cutting it if Tron is an actual player in your meta. It is in mine although I don't always play it but there is at least 1 person that always plays it. If blood moon is high in your meta certainly keep wastes but I think it could easily become a GQ.
As a small aside, I've been loving lost legacy in SB. It comes in during hard matches like combo and shift based decks that are just so hard for us. It has applications vs tron as well where a lot of our cards are suboptimal. Hitting an o-stone or karn or ulamog can really make all the difference. This card is a personal preference though.
I was on 4 fetches until I got cutoff under a Blood moon. The Fetches seem the most reliable way of fishing out the basics quickly. I do have Traverse which can grab that Waste. I've had to grab it s couple times to bring the Eldrazi online. 5 might be the right number? I have had all 3 basics out with Blood Moon on the table. Feels good. Although losing to Kessig Wolf Run feels bad.
I took note of Lost Legacy. I haven't seen a Valakut Breach deck yet. Our big store closed up (rent increase) and the dust is still settling. But school is back and Sun Modern tripled, so I imagine the side board will see some more adjustments.
Oh it is. Another reason for a high Fetch count though. I know I've hit Delerium at least twice. The very first time was against a post board deck running Blood Moon and I grabbed an Eldrazi instead of that Waste and got blown out. The second time it was fine.
TBH I just look at it as fixing. I know I have access to basics which is a fine T1 play if no discard. But 2 is too many. It's never been dead to me but I'm waiting for the day I topdeck it with all my basics out. I'll get the 4th Stirrings next time I pickup cards.
Sorry guys but I don't think this deck wants goyfs.
BW eldrazi plays relics mainboard, in BG we can afford to play scavenging ooze and combo with Eternal scourge, always keep bringing it back, which seems more powerful. As well as wasteland strangler being more easy to activate.
Eternal Scourge is slow and can be outclassed quite a bit by other creatures (such as Goyf.) It's also extremely mana intensive. I have been looking at Matter Reshaper in the slot instead but have been really happy with Scooze. Goyf is great at either sucking up a removal spell, establishing a clock and even influencing side board decisions. Heres's my ideal curve:
T1 - Discard
T2 - Removal or Goyf
T3 - LotV or TKS
T4 - TKS or Smasher
T5 - Reload with Stirrings
This is a deck looking to win on approx T6. I've been running more removal so I'm a turn or 2 later. The later you go, the more something like Eternal Scourge makes sense. I want to close out the game ASAP.
The appeal for strangler is what I'm most interested in. In grindy matchups I can see value to the scourge but that card seems so slow. The great things about goyf is against decks like burn you need a cheap huge guy to stop them. That entire turn is huge and usually a 3/4 with discard Same can be said for other aggro matches. Obviously a temple means scourge is t2 also but at that point I would want a reshaper. Perhaps that's just personal preference.
I'm currently on the matter reshaper game plan. I want to flip him into some of the best possible things I can. I'm always happy to see a goyf I doubt I would feel quite the same about a scourge. I very much adhere to DeadKitten's game plan. When I switch out of goyf it would be for a strangler and relic plan. The problem is at that point I'm not sure green adds more than white.
I do also really like deadeye tracker. Seems excellent for fueling process. I like he can be used even with RIP in play. He's a bit slow but I may test as a 1 of or a couple in SB.

Matter Reshaper is really good but the upside of Eternal Scourge in a deck with mainboard relics outweighs the value of Reshaper imho.
With E.Temple Scourge is basically a 2-drop and can grind incredibly well against midrange/control decks and is similarly (to reshaper) slow at pressuring combo decks, that is why I've added Scrapheap Scrounger (which I often take out in game 2 if I"m against an interactive deck).
Sadly yeah goyfs are king. There are some decent replacements but just never the same.
Whelp..... Down a Volcanic Island and a Savannah but up the 3 Goyfs I was missing. Also picked up a Liliana, the Last Hope. Going to go with a 1-3 split between Veil with the 4th in the SB and see how it goes.
Ah to have Eye back again. I would love to go big. Alas, We lose raw power but it's not hopeless. With tweaks I think this deck can compete, it has some strong lines of play.
I went 3-2 at fnm with essentially the same list. Maybe 1 or 2 cards different in the sideboard.
r1 was counters company
both games were essentially the same although was some rough beats. He essentially has the combo both games and while I'm able to strip the vizier he either find another or coco's a bunch of times. g2 I had an opener of reshaper, smasher, 2 temple and thoughtseize, 1 marsh, 1 something else. t1 I strip the vizier over coco not sure was right choice. Do i give him natural combo aka infinite mana but no payoff or take the combo and hope he coco's into nothing? I let him coco and he gets witness into a piece then coco again into the other and he has the recruiter in hand. What can you do.
0-1
r2 merfolk
both of these games He gets semi mana flooded and just didn't draw much and I steam rolled him. I was kind of nervous about this match as maindeck spreading seas can be brutal. I got kinda lucky He didn't have god hands I guess.
1-1
r3 abzan
These were exciting games. Very grindy and very swingy. g1 I don't really draw any big eldrazi and get out 1 for 1. g2 the opposite I have some beats into the right removal and not much he can do. g3 I keep a slow hand and went back and forth but again no real threats and lose to rhinos and liliana. I played a 4th game for fun and it was a hilarious display of what I thought playing against abzan would be. I get a good mix of removal and real threats and he sputters out fast. So went 50-50 with the deck. It sounds about right. As with all BG decks, whomever topdecks better wins.
1-2
r4 GR burningtree aggro
This was a more tokens build but it can be blisteringly fast. g1 I had a discard which allowed me to be 1 turn faster. g2 I had a bunch of discard and a goyf and it was easy. Still, he could reassemble surprisingly quick. I thought they were easy but maybe I was lucky?
2-2
r5 UW flying tempo
Strange deck but I could see the appeal. Lots of utility fliers. Too bad their guys are relatively weak and my guys are huge so it was hard for him to maintain tempo.

Interesting abzan eldrazi list from the last SCG modrn classic. Couple weird card choices but I think I can make sense of them. Biggest being the talisman of unity.
3-2
