OK back in Frankfurt. Only 91 player but i hear there first place will take a journey to las Vegas too, so i was now more excited. Game 1 i face UR delver and win 2:1 vs a nice guy with less experience...second game i won 2:0 against jeskai easy, but even then he dont believe it is a great match up for me. Game 3 against storm. I love watching the face of my opponents when i bring turn 1 relics and See how big eyes watch a little bit to long...Strike means this. 2:1. now i was happy with my results, even if i lost all next rounds i dont need to shame me here on salvation with 3 sure wins. next opponent tryed a life from loan Combo....crack relic, nothing to win for him, 2:0. traverse shadow after and unbelivable, but it was a time out with 1:1. my opponent after him gived up game 1 with only 1 Land seeing my 2 relic. He must be living end so sided and lost 1:2 playing Bad. Standings: 4:1:1 so i need a win against next guy to top 8. he played storm, lol turn 1 relic and 2:0. yeaaaaah top 8, VIVA las Vegas i am coming....
5:1:1 with one more time only 1 loose. But guys, it was not enough like all told me. 1 point to Less so i was place 10 and very dissapointed not top 8. only 50 Euro, a nice bag and cardbox like all 9-16. but i dont need feel sad, loosing only 1 time to my own means relic is powerful and it is possible even without chalice (my oppinion). Played 2 Main caverns + 1 in side and no blinkmoths but 4 tectonic edge
Played a few games on ol' Untap, and the capabilities of this deck are pretty amazing. Might have to take the plunge...How would you guys compare this to Mono Green Stompy? That's the only other deck I really have experience with.
I own green stompy and i love it, but my opponents could easy control my creatures because to Less interaction without stuff like thought knot seer and all the crazy lands in eldrazi. I hope green stompy will be much better now with our New baloth coming in dominaria, but it has the same problems...it cost 3 green and it is impossible play lands like ghost quarter, tectonic edge, blinkmoth, mutavault...this is the main reason why eldrazi is stronger at moment

Same word, different meaning. Mono Green Stompy is an aura stompy deck, which falls under the pure aggro umbrella. Stompy is an aggro-control deck (specifically, midrange) that disrupts opponents with noncreature permanents before following up with heavy hitters to close out the game. As such, the decks are really hard to compare; only thing they have in common is attacking. It's like comparing Ponza to Zoo, or Jund to Infect. Best I can give you is that CES is much more interactive and consistent than MGS, but not as proactive.
More on the distinction between stompy and aura stompy here.
the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.

Interesting distinction. I think that site is down, though.
I haven't really scoured the numbers for participation/conversion rate or anything, but my gut feeling is that CES is performing really well right now. I think it's made a top 16 appearance or better in nearly every event the last few weeks. Yet it still feels like a dark horse deck. It's kind of strange
Watched Jim Davis' stream the other day when he played CES, he went 5-0 and still said basically that the deck was neat, but it wasn't anything special. Even though he dominated everyone he played.

Edit: Jinxed it! Not in the top 32 of GP Phoenix.
Was it even played at the GP? Looks like the new RG Eldrazi decks were performing really well...I wonder if they're just the better deck.

I'm not sure we can make general assumptions like that. This deck will be better in certain metagames for sure. If there's lots of other eldrazi decks around, the RG version will be a clear winner there because it's better in the mirror.
Its gonna depend on the week-to-week shakedown of what's being played.
That said, I do prefer this version. Chalice is a pet card of mine.

Hey folks, I like this deck and I'll soon give it some testing. I wanted to bring your attention to a new land recently spoiled that will be released in Dominaria (tentative translation of the name from Spanish):
Zhalfirian Wastes
When Zhalfirian Wastes enters the battlefield, Scry 1.
Tap: add C
What do you guys think? I think it is an amazing, instant 4-of land, but I haven't played with the deck. I could see trimming manlands for this card, but I don't know if they're crucial for the strategy or something.
Would you like to read Commander stories? Check my latest stories, coming from Lorwyn and Innistrad: Ghoulcaller Gisa and Doran, The Siege Tower! If you like my writing, ask me to write something for your commander as well!
I am running one. It's been good in that amount as I've been seeing more combo lately. I was also able to cast it for one against lantern to win after bridge came down.
It comes down to what your personal meta is. In a larger unknown, I like the split. Jund hasn't been as big as I expected and sometimes that big dumb creature just wins games.

So I wanted to show of a few cards I've been looking at that I think could be cool in our deck.
Hall of the Bandit Lord: This could be really cool to play as maybe a 1-off because it can lead to some really explosive turns with hasty Thought-Knots and Scourges.
Apostle's Blessing: Might be an interesting card for our sb since it can protect our creatures against very removal heavy decks.
Marrow Shards: Probably just a worse gut shot, but could be good in the right meta.
Jinxed Idol: Seems like a cool alternative to Copter, but probably isn't good enough. (EDIT: its pretty good against ensnaring bridge)
Heart of Kiran: Another cool alternative to Copter. Could see play if we end up playing that new Karn that was leaked.
Modern:UBRDeath's ShadowUBR, CEldrazi StompyC,WUBRGSliversWUBRG, UBRGTraverse ShadowUBRG,RUGtempo pileRUG Pauper:UdelverU they slaughtered my deck i miss gush and daze..
Hall of the bandit Lord comes in tapped and paying 3 life to animate a manland isn't great. Sure casting scourge from exile and attacking right away is neat, but we're good in grindy matchups that would need it.
Blessing is cute, but I dont think I'd cut anything in the side or main for it.
Where marrow shards is good ratchet bomb is good, and more versatile.
Jinxed idol is also cute, but lantern is a good matchup so is burn (sb bridge sometimes.) Thopter foundry sacs artifacts. What else plays bridge?
Heart of Kiran doesn't draw carda, and I happily trade 1 power for an easier crew and a loot.
That being said, try em. Ive convinced myself to try and endless sands (light wrath protection/infinitely blocking scourges/a desert to sac to scavenger grounds) but it's probably bad. Who knows 'til you try though.

Wow that seems super good for us. What to cut though? I think one Sea Gate Wreckage is probably fine, and maybe moving a Ghost Quarter to the sideboard. Not sure about the other two slots though, that's a tough one
Have been testing the new land all day. The only lands I'm comfortable cutting are 1 Gemstone, 2 Sea Gate, and maybe 1 Quarter. But I don't think we want 4 of this land. We certainly want some amount, since if we spend our mana every turn, the scry is free. But in longer games, we don't always spend our mana, and in those cases it's better to have a land with a spell-like ability than to have gotten an early scry.
That said, this land does improve our mulligans overall and therefore contribute to our primary gameplan of "find Temple." And it's one of the best lands we can open in a land-light hand. I'm starting with 2 over a Sea Gate and a Gemstone, mostly to see how badly I miss that third Gemstone.
the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.
I am really, really liking this land. This card is exceptional. While I’d agree Seagate is the easiest cut, I really miss the ghost quarter and cavern. The manabase is so versatile and tight, but this card feels fantastic. One problem I’ve always had is drawing trash when you don’t need it. Scrying a monkey, chalice, land, serum powder, and sometimes a mimic just feels so good. I think this is a 4 of, but I really do miss that GQ and Cavern, but I can’t find anywhere else.
That I'd have to really dig for, I'm still new to excel and figuring it all out can be a bit overwhelming, this is just the information that I have easy access too.
Edit: Here, I just found out how to do pivot tables. Neat stuff.
Double edit: just figured out I could calculate the times I've used gemstone and it's win% That's the win/loss and the number of actual cards in hand (not virtual which would include +exiled scourges or -cards exiled to gemstone, Second picture.
Interesting data fam, would you say you’re proficient with the deck? A 60% win rate with cavern would absolutely make me consider not cutting one for the new scry land
