I ran this archetype in a small FNM a couple weeks ago, and had the profound misfortune of running into Pillow Fort. Sufficed to say, the game was over - barring massively lopsided draws - before it began. Happens.
I got to thinking about the intrinsic drawbacks of playing a colorless deck. It's rare that you get a superior card option in colorless over a card option in color. Only makes sense, right? Then: Boomshanka. Oblivion Stone.
You don't have to bother with a slow tick-up of Ratchet Bomb
You can count on any number of specialty lands that don't get affected by the sweeping activation
You can enjoy the totality of the sweep: no need to choose the CMC target strata
It works for colored Tron variants, why not colorless? Again, we're talking about games 2-3 where such a weapon could prove devastating for the opponent. Also, at the risk of shaking it up, I endorse the inclusion of a single Endless One , friend to Eldrazi Mimic , in the main deck.
Because we can't afford it. Even All is Dust is better here. Nobody plays Pillow Fort anyway, and Bomb is much stronger against the decks people actually do play (i.e. Shadow). E-One is still a major liability in such a Push-heavy format.
All that said, anything can work in a smaller local meta. My builds are tuned specifically to perform in evolved metagames such as those found at high-level events, in MTGO leagues, and at in-the-dark Modern tournaments, so do keep that in mind when reading my suggestions.
the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.
I played around with Smuggler's Copter but ended up siding it out a lot. From my perspective this deck is all-in on fast aggro, and playing towards a long game with a card like Copter is kind of a fool's errand. My main problem with this build is that it just feels super variable. Some hands are unstoppable, and sometimes I mull like five times and still don't find a keepable five or four card hand. When I do keep a good opener I too frequently run out of gas and topdeck a second Chalice (dead), then a Serum Powder (dead), then a SSG (dead), or useless land (dead). Then I lose.
Chalice is amazing right now though, and the good hands are really super good.

This is a learning-to-mull issue I think. Don't be afraid to go to 4. Sea Gate is there to give us a long game and also cycle through spare Guides.
Sorry I misread the card, I will say the decks I struggle with are, Collected company decks, scapeshift, valakut, eldrazi tron, living end, ad nasaeum.
Trinisphere does not help these matchups, many of which are in fact favorable. Of those you listed, only Scape/Valakut and to a lesser degree ETron are troublesome. How exactly are you losing to Living End with 4 Chalice and 4 Relic post-board? How long have you been playing the deck?

Agreed that Living End is not so tough post-board. Pithing Needle should probably come in, naming Fulminator Mage, though. Set Chalice to 0 of course.
Took out the Ghostfire Blade from the side for a Grafdigger's Cage for Company decks, kinda thinking about also going to three Relics for two Cages instead.
How does chalice help for the living end? they just cycle everything then cascade into Living end. Maybe it is just bad luck, I board all that end but somehow they pull out the win. I have played the for awhile number probably 6-7 FNM's usually 3-1 with it every time, but usually my loss is too those decks. I was just saying from my experience, I have yet to go 4-0 with it. I play at a super competitive FNM, its actually the biggest one in north america and I have heard it may be biggest in the world.

Hey Fnc, chalice on 0 counters Living End when they cascade into it because the cascade ruling says they get to cast the card they cascade into without paying the mana cost and LE doesn't have a CMC (counts as 0). Hope this helps.

I just wanted to say congrats to MTGSalvation's and Modern Nexus writer Jordan Boisvert for going 7-1 or better at the SCG Invitational with his Modern Eldrazi Brew. Here is the list.
He's been running this deck for many months, there is a thread for it in Developing Competitive. I have played it a bit myself, it's pretty fun and can be totally busted out of the gate in some games. Definitely the fastest of the Eldrazi decks in Modern.
Thanks guys! Ended up sleeping through the first round of Modern on Sunday (lol) but was undefeated in played matches. For anyone interested in playing/learning more about this deck, check out the primer. Bottom of the primer also links to multiple related articles.

Congratulation for the result Jordan!
I saw you did pretty well at the open too. Did you play Eldrazi Stompy there?
Yep! In the Classic, lost a close match to Tron (multiple Wurms) and a not-close match to Tezzeret (pretty sure we can never beat 3 Bridge 4 Whir into Needle for Bomb).

Thx! Ashtoncutcher, what will happen if i cut scg and chalice into sb...use 4 relic and 4 mindstone main instead? At the same time i use 12 tronlands, 4 gemstone, 4 temple, 4 ghost quarter. My plan is maximize the chance of unfair mana an use powder until temple or natural tron. No carddraw with lands, because mindstone and relic = 8 extradraw. In your reports sea gate wreckage dont draw a lot of cards. Mindstone safe me if bloodmoon comes too. Only problem is path maybe but i can cut 1 quarter and 1 gemstone and use waste. Your opinion please on this all in stompy. You Ever tryed something like this in eldrazi stompy?
I have, and there's a link to an article with Relics main and no Chalice in the primer. Stone is pretty weak here though since our curve stops at 5. Same with Tron lands. Manlands are infinitely better in this deck (and IMO in general---Karn not enough of a payoff to skip out on Muta). Relics main can work in highly solved, graveyard-reliant metagames, but right now I think Chalice is a lot stronger against the field. I would certainly not cut Quarter or Gemstone for anything.

As much as I want to praise the deck, it brings back waayyy too many bad memories of Eldrazi Winter... lol.

Are the Serum Powder specifically there for Eternal Scourge?

Want to play a UW control deck in modern, but don't have jace or snaps?
Please come visit us at the Emeria Titan control thread
It is great how this deck is like the legacy Canadian Threshold; insanely tight maindeck that rewards right descission making.

I have never been a fan of running so many one drops like relic with chalice main.
