I do not like the Damping Sphere in The board they hit our temples which are important in the tron mu. And i am not sure why you think storm is a bad match up i think it is one of our best. I dont think the spheres are worth it just for the arclight decks i would rather just have a cuple ravenous traps i think.
A friend of mine, who I consider to be a respectable player, has yesterday top-eighted a 120-player Modern tournament in Moscow with my deck, going undefeated in 7 rounds of Swiss.
Hey guys. I've been playing a lot of Eldrazi Stompy over the last 2 years or so and recently have been thinking of adding a color to the deck. I've pretty much ran through all the colors and playtested a bunch but am currently getting the pieces together to go with a mono-white list. The thinking is that Chalice is just no longer the free win generator it used to be, at least in my opinion. Modern is very rock paper scissory right now and at least in my experience the free wins from chalice aren't as often anymore. I rarely play burn or infect and even though the new arclight deck and resurgence of death's shadow are both great for the deck, I think it's time for a new lock piece. And those would be Rest in Peace and Stony Silence. Jordan recently brewed up a rest in peace list that while not generated from this deck per say, still gave me the little bit more motivation I needed to jot down a list. I realized that turn 1 RIP or Stony off of SSG were backbreaking against a larger portion of the top decks currently based off of MTGGoldfish. I think the eldrazi stompy shell is the best stompy deck in the format. I think the eldrazi are just perfect for playing lock permanents asymmetrically and think that Seer and Smasher are the best "3" and "4" drop creatures in the format. Whilst Scourge and Reshaper are very resistant to removal. The deck isn't worth playing without temple and Powder is still the most consistent way to start with it. So, I figured the best thing to do was to simply add color to the manabase and exchange chalices for the other lock pieces.
Some thoughts: So i didn't dump chalice, because honestly I don't think it's worth it at first. If I were to dump it, it'd probably go to more removal like Path to Exile. Maybe some in the board for the spirits and human matchups since chalice is coming out. Also, Thalias should be in here over Reshaper but not sure if they should be Thalia, Guardian of Thraben or Thalia, Heretic Cathar. White also gives us better enchantment and artifact removal in the sideboard which I haven't finished yet. Also gives us access to sweepers but not sure if Wrath of God is good here. Horizon Canopy and Void together seem like total gas but since I'm still testing I don't know if this manabase is optimal. I'll miss ghost quarters and more creature lands but not too much I don't think.
Heres what I think this list solves. I think it gives us better removal against the vial-aggro decks. I think it replaces chalice well in the matchups where chalice is a dud. I think rest in peace and stony silence grant more free wins in the current meta than chalice does. I think this list makes tron a free win almost because chalice on the draw turn 1 was often too slow. I think that the improved sideboard gives the deck better options against it's bad matchups and I think canopy in addition to void help mitigate some of the dead draw issues that a deck like this has.
The first big issue besides potential manabase issues that comes to mind, is the fact that the deck might want to prioritize white mana turn 1 instead of temple in certain matchups or hands in order to cast turn 1 lock piece. This could make eldrazi mimic awkward. However, I don't think this will be a big issue because temple is more about turn 3 seer and 4 smasher rather than turn 1 mimic. Mimic comes out a lot and unlike chalice, RIP and Stony are very good turn 2 as well against a lot of decks still.
Sorry if anyone disapproves of this list going here but this is a natural evolution for me from the colorless list and is fundamentally the same idea IMO just a different interpretation. Any ideas or comments about the list or my reasoning is much appreciated. I love eldrazi and want to create the best version I can and take down tournaments with!
I have found some similar reasoning about chalice, there are a number of matches where it is not impactful. Personally I think the power of the deck comes from "punching above our weight" with lucky openers, backed up by a quick clock. I wanted to explore a version that was able to swap out lock pieces to fit the match, and I ended up on a version that we have seen before, splashing urborg for leyline of the void in the board.
Leyline lets us dunk on graveyard strategies, similar to how you are using rest in peace, but before our opponents can interact, and we can back that up with heavy hitters starting on our first turn with 0 tempo lost. While relic gives us more flexibility and can be used in grindy matches, it does not demand removal like leyline and can be more easily played around, not to mention we take our first turn off from being aggressive to cast it.
Gut shot does the same thing against decks that play x/1's especially mana dorks. Allowing us to stay on plan while also interacting with our opponent. The addition of urborg also means we are able to cast dismember without paying life in the mid to late game, when we most likely cant afford to.
To handle tron and control I am trying out 1-2 phyrexian metamorph. This works as extra copies of our best threats or theirs. Copying a wormcoil stone walls a play we previously had no answer to, while we chip in with blinkmoth and smuggler's copter
The full 4 ghost quarter also show up in this list to hit manlands and interact with tron. Combined with sorcerous spyglass and chalice we can shut off u/w from being able to find one of their few sweepers after turning off their targeted removal. Metamorph shines here allowing us to copy a larger creature and keep up a clock without over extending.
You cannot Exile eternal scourge with leyline and you need room for Urborg for making black... And leyline is not so good VS midrange or control like relic. Maybe it is better in some matches, but it has a lot of other problems
We are already heavily favored in midrange matches, and lately i have found recasting scourge to be more cute than good. Scourge's main role in the deck is lowering the cost of mulliganning agressively with serum powder.
Hey guys, how are your experiences VS. Phoenix decks? I didn't played this deck in the last 2 months since Phoenix growth up. My only experience against is with green stompy and red prison. I have a tournament on Saturday and will go with stompy, but I don't like my less experience against Phoenix. My side will include this time 4 surgicals too because of it and dredge/Kci. I play 4 relic main instead of chalice, but I think chalice is better vs. Phoenix and relic maybe to slow... But even this I am not sure. Normally I knew which decks I can beat and which ones kill me

I think this deck is in a great postion and scavenger grounds only helps with getting arclight phoenix in the exile pile plus the chalice for 1 wrecks that deck. Finally dismember also gets thing in the ice. I played this deck last week and went 3-1 losing to mardu tokens but I only lost to bad draws and not hitting the right cards mulliganing. I ended up beating Jund, 8 Rack and U/R phoenix
I also think we are favored against Phoenix deck. Chalice on 1 stops their main ability to dig for answers and our removal spells hit all of their creatures. I'm playing both Relic and Leyline of the Void so we have a ton of graveyard disruption to stop Phoenix interactions while applying pressure.
Here's another top8 from the team open. Looks like they are going a bit bigger/longer game plan. 4 leyline with no black source and no relic, though crucible + scavenger grounds might be doing the same job. I think thorn is also an interesting addition.
OK, tournament is over. Good news:"I am 5 time now in this tournament series in a row at top 4". Bad news:"because of heavy snow, only 18 player this time". Played vs. Ur Phoenix 1:1, 1 turn more and he is death sure. Second match vs dredge and normally easy, but to much beer yesterday on a festival is never good. Lost 1:2. But then I beat ponza and 2 Tron players, so I was able to be finish with 3:1:1. List will come like allways on mtg Top8 in some days
I played this deck for several months a couple years ago, and recently decided it looked very well positioned again; for example, Chalice is amazing against Phoenix decks, and the recent resurgence of Burn looks good for us, too.
I play twice a week on paper at a competitive LGS with a large turnout of 40+ players on Mondays and 60+ on Fridays. Over the past three events I am 11-2-1, going 4-0-1, 3-1, 4-1. Here is my list:
Last Saturday I went to a "Fetch a Set" tournament for playsets of fetchlands to the Top 8. 55 people and the TO decided to extend prizes down to Shocklands for 9-16. My intent was to just end up 5th and get the Arid Mesa's I've been missing since forever, but I did too well and came in 3rd after a 5-1 Swiss and win against Rock in the Top 8.
I'll go into more detail tonight, but the matches I played were:
Top 8
Rock (Not Sol Malka, 2-0)
Rock (Sol Malka, 1-2)
After some lumpy beats in Round 1, I tore through the rest of the Swiss with merciless abandon, gleefully playing against decks that are bad vs Chalice the entire way.

I've been playing it as a one-of for a while now. It's never 'terrible' and occasionally can provide a win theb4tf Reshaper wouldnt be able to by turning itself into a 5th TKS or Smasher. I have also won a few very non-standard games by docking a Whir opponent after copying their Witchbane Orb. I didnt draw/cast it all day at the tournament though, so it was a non-factor.
I like it, but I'm also considering cutting it for a new Karn.
I played this deck this week at my modern Monday night event and this deck tore threw everything. My only loss was due to UW control with some lucky terminus off the top.
I think this deck is in a great spot till some more combo decks come out.

Was this the one at Win Condition? If so, I wish I'd known about the shocks lol.
Modern:
Pyro Prison
Sun and Moon
Eldrazi Stompy
I was just trying out the Amulet for the weekend. I only brought it in once, against Mardu, and discarded it to a Liliana.
