While looking through BFZ cards, one card instantly stood out to me: Retreat to Coralhelm. I thought to myself, what if splinter twin could be for lands, and what if I could make it a much harder a combo to pull off? This deck runs on the landfall trigger of Retreat to Coralhelm to untap a Dryad Arbor with Splinter Twin on it. It's intended win cons are either a lot of trees, or milling your opponent infinitely with Hedron Crab, with Cosi's Ravager able to be subbed in in case I can't attack. Other than that, it can run beat down pretty successfully. Woodland Wanderer has the natural chance to be as big as a 5/5, and with some help from a lotus cobra it can be a 6/6, and Undergrowth Champion gets to be a real problem if left unchecked. I've done some deck testing and it runs fairly well. I think I should sub out some of the counter spells for void slime, as spellskite can be a real problem. I would love to hear your suggestions, and if you choose to test it I want to hear how the games went and what match-ups worked/didn't work.
Doesn't die to torpor orb or hushwing griff (for those who play it), and the combo creature can't be countered. Plus, who'd waste removal or a counter spell on a retreat in modern?
what if arbor/twin/retreat could be used as a secondary combo alongside Knight/retreat. something like
2 arbor
22 lands
3 retreat
1 splinter twin
4 wargate
4 path
4 birds
4 heiarch
4 Knight
12 creatures.
run 2 red sources also to power the wolfrun , and fill out the creatures with beaters/value.
Geist, voice, smiter, scooze,
wargate can grab any combo peice x=0,3,4 and can be played as early as t2(arbor) or t4(twin)
Maybe run it as Combo twin... Run all the Deceiver Exarcks and use some of the green or white enchantment fetches to find Coral and Twin faster.
Also run the Knight of the relaquary.
Lose cards like Plated Geopede, Woodland Wander, Undergrowth Champion and just run pure combos and counter spells.
Herron Crab is cute, maybe in the sideboard.
I'm just saying that an all in with multiple cards that put together in several different combinations could make for a combo deck that is more resilant than Regular Twin, instead of being a solid control deck be a light control deck focused on more quickly hitting one of several combo wins.
well the crab is funny, and can be an alternate win con in some matches. so sideboard might be a better place for it as you said. I always get a laugh out of unexpected combos. the main advantage that the arbor has over traditional twin is that it is a bit harder to abrupt decay the creature it's gonna be attatched to. They can just hit the retreat but multiple copies mitigates this issue. In fact its probably better to have multiple copies before the deck goes off. insures redundency.

I like the deck a lot, and I think that if you play in the "aggressive landfall with a coincidental combo-kill" direction, that it's fine. However, don't think that "people will underestimate me" is a good strategy, because it's not.

It actually does die to Torpor Orb and Hushwing Gryff, and everybody will kill Retreat to Coralhelm on sight, due to the Knightfall deck.
