I'm just wondering i keep seeing rogue's passage and i don't understand why it is here. We can tap down any blocker when we go off, playing colorless mana lands and non plains/forest lands has a high cost in this deck, why bother with this mostly useless land?
I am sort of wondering the same thing too actually. When com king off I have tapped down around 6 blockers. However, the problem comes against boggles, man lands and other creatures that are hard to tap down. Rogues becomes useful here and I think that is why I still have it in my list. We need a way to give evasion to the knight to seal the deal. I wish I had a better option. Gavony is great in the grind, but also not as good as Kessig for sealing the deal.

What do you guys think of sapseep forest? I was just looking through all the modern lands and I found this. Actually pretty cool imo, it is fetchable, sackable with KotR and is a decent mana sink that can gain some extra life throughout a game. Might be worth replacing a forest with it.

I'm never big on comes into play tapped unless it gives you an overwhelming effect. Maybe I'm being short-sighted on it.

I wish we had access to green-sun's.
Comes into play tapped isn't great in the opener, and it isn't a card I want in my starting 7, but the fact it is easy to find is a big deal IMO and doesn't break up the combo. Not sure if it is worth it or not, but could be a great main deck solution to burn and aggressive decks. Again I think it adds to the decks toolbox, which is important.

His shell is very interesting. Very much control, which is do able with all his "free" counters. I am not sure if the same is possible with modern, but his mana base is very close to what we are doing. I am curious if tango lands might be useful.
On a totally random aside, Sun Titan finally did his thing and oh boy did he wonders. He came out in 2 games. In the first game he recurred 3 goyfs, second game he got me back a Geist and a Smiter. He brought me back from a loss both times. Debating if a second copy is a good idea. He was such a power house when combined with Commune. Of the 3 games I played today, I won 2. Hair of my teeth win against Abzan Aristocrats and a win against UW Sun Titan. I lost 1-2 to Tarmo Twin, thanks to double Thragtusk draws in the 3rd. The deck feels great though. Maybe some fine tuning still.

Rogue's Passage is more of a safety net in decks with a high enough basic/Tango count to consistently activate it against Burn mid-combo. We can't tap Etched Champion, and getting a fetch and leaving a basic/shock/Tango/Sejiri Steppe in the deck to deal with Flash stuff can be awkward. A mere Raise the Alarm is a nightmare mid-combo without evasion.
Rogue's Passage has also been pretty good at breaking stalemates against midrange decks whenever I have a fatty. Kessig Wolf Run is often awkward to activate against them.
ok i understand, but i never have this problem my mana base allows me to leave a fetch on the field with a shock/basic in the deck along with sejiri steppe, and still hit for 20 dmg, not counting exalted triggers.
8 fetchlands + 5 shock + 5 basics is where i'm at, although my list splashes blue very lightly, but this has allowed me to save an attacking knight from removal and win.
I personally like the concept that was suggested earlier in the thread about using Scryb Ranger to fuel landfall triggers so I built U/W/R/G
with Wild Nacatl,Steppe Lynx & Plated Geopede to create huge tempo/damage in the early turns to redirect removal away from KOTR and to clear the way of creatures with Lightning Bolt'sPath to exile's & Remand's
The deck will also have a good matchup against Tron hence the damage output mixed with remand's and sided negate's.
Also Side note, I believe Collected Company should'nt be anywhere near the KnightFall Deck's, Because the deck doesn't have a ample
amount of creatures to enable 2 creatures from casting Collected Company consistenly.

You can also put out 1 fetchland, and then attack. Wait until after blockers to use up the rest of your fetchlands. That way you can't be screwed up by blockers after you have no more fetches left.
Well, I got to test a little bit this weekend, mostly against Jund and Amulet Bloom--multiple matches with each. The players were competent in a local sort of a way (but that's really where I am at too). Ultimately, they were the only ones who brought modern decks at a local gameday. So, obviously not high level play or anything. Anyway, I'm still getting a feel for the deck.
Chord was a nice fall back option--several of the times I successfully combo'd out involved chording at end of turn for the Knight--I also liked having the ability to grab the MD finks for lifegain or the eternal witness (typically to get back retreat)
I often felt like I wanted more removal, not sure what to do about it though
I think I'm going to drop the spell pierce and try full-on stubborn denial--most of the time when pierce was useful, denial would have worked and there were several times when pierce didn't work and denial would have
Also probably going to try it geist-less--he's occasionally explosive, but he is often sort of mediocre unless you have retreat and some land drops to tap down attackers. More Smiters would also help out the stubborn denial plan
Vs. Jund
This proved to be a tricky match-up. Due to discard and copious amounts of removal, I never had much chance to actually combo off.
My sideboard didn't seem to help this match-up much
Out of three matches, Lost 2, Lost 2/Won 1, Lost 1/Won 2--so not so great The winning match was by the skin of my teeth
Vs. Amulet Bloom
Generally an easier match-up--he had few ways of interacting with me pre-board, meaning I combo'd off more easily
Notably, I really felt the "only 3" retreats here. There were several turns where I was "if I just hit a retreat, I win"
Spell pierce was often utterly worthless after turn one--stubborn denial had some game, but it wasn't a huge deal
Post-board, I was happy to have the dromoka's commands, as he added firespouts Also used the command to have a large knight fight and kill a titan--kinda a fun moment
Overall, the sideboard worked pretty well here
Across two matches, Win 2, Win 2
Also--I may try commune with the gods (especially after Complex Pants' results)--I really don't want to run 4 retreats, but I need a way of hitting them more reliably.

Sig by Dark Night Cavalier at Heroes of the Plane Studios!
With the number of creature you are running that have <4 power (knight is variable) I would suggest unified will instead of spell pierce. I run two out of my board, but I think I want to up that to 3. It is such a great surprise to hard counter a creature with 2 mana up. It has won me multiple games. I would say 80% of the time we have more creatures than out opponents, so it is a hard counter.
Other removal you may consider is valorous stance and detention sphere has been a life saver a few times.
I will say geist is an absolute power house in this deck. With 7 exalted creatures, he rarely swings into bad blocking situations. For some decks he is really hard to answer and will just win you the game.
Has any one figured out a good way to deal with sweepers? Any time I face a UWx deck, Verdict just hoses me and there isn't much I can do about it. Valorous stance to save 1 guys is about all I got.

Well, if you're splashing red there's Boros Charm. heh.
Biggest thing is to take the Jundy approach to sweepers: Play one dude at a time and make them 1-for-1 you with them. Problem is when you play dorks you can't do that
Been tinkering with a bant list as of late.. valorous stance is a bit underrated. It has saved my combo and got rid of bigger creatures to clear a path.for kotr or geist.
I dont like coco with bant, chord is much better i feel like.
