Hello! I am a long-time Delver player, and I've been on Grixis Delver for the past few months to moderate success- Top 4 at an IQ, a 17-4 MTGO record, etc. I am looking to convert the deck over to this style of play, because I think it is more consistent and powerful, especially in an unknown metagame like Regionals or something.
Here is my list I've been toying with; any and all suggestions would be appreciated! Deck: Grixis Control
Stock list overall but from my testing I don't think 3 thought scours is necessary. Sure it fuels the delve but I have been fine shaving 1/2 of them for other cards. I would out maybe 1 thoughtseize over it or even a damnation if you run the extra black cleave over the sulfur falls. With all the tron and eldrazi decks, blood moon and crumble to dust is a necessity.
I would take out
-1 rakes charm
-1 Ob nixilious
-1 vandablast
+2 blood moon
+1 crumble to dust
Ive always liked ashiok but I don't think its right in this meta and put a bribery in its spot. Also a split of anger of the gods/radiant flames since anger is great against the coco decks and stops pesky aristocrats or other weird decks.
So I don't know if this belongs here, or I should start a new thread for the Shape Anew combo. But, the list is basically what you guys are playing with the combo stuffed in.
Anyone have any advice on the deck? I don't think I like my mana base 100%. I find that I draw into lands more than I would like and am thinking about dropping to 20-21 lands. Also, I've considered increasing Command to 3-4 and adding in 1-2 Rise // Fall. And, from playing the deck, the only card I would cut right now is Wing Splicer, ever time I draw it, I could care less about it (I wish there was a Splicer that gave Golems haste).
This is in the wrong thread and not really a combo at all unless I'm missing something. It's s a way to cheat blight steel out but can be easily pathed or dealt with.
I really like the look of your list, Academy! Definitely going to give it a try.
What do you think of Liliana compared to Tribute? I always considered her a Tribute at worst (edict, then take some damage that I would have taken), but in some circumstances she can just be a house. In other builds, I can see the double B making Tribute more appealing, but it seems like this list could support her just fine. Curious to hear your thoughts!
The Tribute slot is there mainly because I always want at least one extra piece of removal in my sideboard of any fair deck. The advantages Tribute brings over things like Terminate and Dismember are life gain and an advantage in the Bogles matchup. Comparing Tribute to Liliana, Instant speed can be huge (ranging from allowing myself to play around fetching up Dyrad Arbor to just having more flexible options on the opponent's turn), life gain can be very important in matchups like from Zoo, Burn, or Merfolk, and being a spell does synergize better with Young Pyro, Jace, and Snapcaster. Overall, Tribute works better within the confines of this decklist, but Liliana is of course the more objectively powerful card. It can take over the game on it's own as you said, so I do like Liliana in Grixis lists without countermagic like this list from GP Pittsburgh.

I tried around with the decklist you posted and actually I felt like, there were something missing. I really love the concept on its own, but I think YP as the only real threat is kind of risky/weak from my experience. In general I have mixed feelings about him, I don't know, do you think YP can set up a reasonable clock on its own? (Not mentioning cases in which he gets removed, which is like most of the times I guess)
The other Problem I see with this list is that its pretty painful for the life totals. Dark Confidant, the Shocks and Gitaxian Probes/ Thoughtseize all cost plenty of life, and so against aggressive strategies, we really should be able to be faster in order to compensate that. Which brings me back to YP, as this task is basically up to him. I don't know if you can beat affinity, burn or Zoo with him alone.
Something I thought of in my head. I think Katlitas is an absolute powerhouse. Also this list would be looking forward past this eldrazi nonsense, but even then I think this list might be ok against the non-nut draws of eldrazi. The list is 59 cards, I am not sure of what to add for the last one. It could be a lot of things, just can't think of it right now, maybe it is Damnation or something.
What are your thoughts?
Also to note, this list has literally 0 testing, hence no SB.

I have similar decklist.
I added Liliana, Heretical Healer try to gain lifepoint and reanimate Snapcaster, Fulminator Mages, and reassembled Inquisition of Kozilek and Thoughtseize for Eldrazi. but not tested yet.
I don't know which thread discuss which deck anymore. Anyway here is a post I made on the grixis control thread as well:
http://mythicspoiler.com/soi/cards/thingintheice.html What do you guys think about this in a grixis control list with 3-4 thought scours, bolts etc. All cheap spells, possibility to get it back with K. Command and can be used as a board stall until we can flip it. I think we could use 2-3 copies.
I don't have much experience with this deck yet, but I think people are trying to avoid Young Peezy because he's only threatening and strong if the opponent is behind or has no way to deal with him. It works in delver because you're dumping free spells every turn and pumping out tokens so you're generating value out of him the turn he comes out and you can stay ahead fairly easily, but later in the game Abbott of Keral Keep is a much better topdeck and I think that's what we want.
Your decklist looks like a Grixis Delver list with Jace and Kalitas, so if you're looking at running Young Pyromancer in that kind of list, you could have a look at the delverless Grixis Delver list or just Grixis Delver and see what they're running and maybe you might end up liking one of them? Otherwise I'd change 2 Thought Scour into 2 Rise//Fall and probably the Young Pyromancer into Abbott's of Keral Keep
I think (I'm not home at the moment to check my decklist) I'm running
I've pretty much jammed together a bunch peoples lists from here with what I think is good. I'd probably run some Abbotts when I get around to picking them up, and I'd definitely run some LoTV if I could afford them or could justify spending the money on them. I've never been a fan of Mainboard discard, so I'm just running an extra fall, because it just does so much work. I am running 2 duress and 2 Dispel in the side for combo and control to try and compensate for the lack of Mainboard targeted discard. Lots of tron hate in the sideboard, because it's going to be a huge part of the meta once the Eldrazi move on, and there's not much Eldrazi at my LGS, just a few Elf and Zoo decks, which is why I've got the mainboard Damnation and Angers in the Side.
I took a break a long while ago to play Twin as a result of so much tron in my area, until that got banned at least. Since the Eldrazi menace has been dominating all of the larger events lately I have felt this deck to be in a bad position, and have been on the UWR train since then. However, with the banlist coming up as well as the realease of Thing in the Ice, I've been brewing with grixis again. I've changed my creature base and control suite up a bit to better facilitate and capitalize on TitI's flip.
Anyways here's what I'm currently looking on, SB is just a bunch of stuff I threw together in under 5min.
I dropped the delve guys in favor of TitI, Skite, and Batterskull. I don't want creatures set me back a lot when bounced, but still needed some amount of life gain in the list since I dropped Kalitas, so Batterskull gets the spot. Without delve creatures, I felt the thought scours to be unnecessary (though milling a think twice with a thought scour is pretty gravy), as serum visions usually just does way more work and doesn't put batterskull in the gy. Jace still flips on the first activation like 90% of the time. Think twice has been an all-star with TitI, drawing two cards and removing two counters from him feels good every time. I did have cryptic in the initial list, but felt that I was shocking myself too often to be able to cast it, so I dropped it. The additional counterspells allow me to play a bit more draw-go and protect my TitI. Spellskite is there to keep Jace/TitI alive and
Look at the card. Now back to Jace. Now back to that card, now back to Jace! Sadly, it isn't Jace, but if it stopped being a junk rare and became relevant, it could act like it's Jace. Crack some Worldwake. What do you have? You have a Jace, the card you wish this card could be like. Look again. THE CARD IS NOW A $75 BILL. Anything possible when you play Magic with Jace and not junk rares. This is probably spam.

I would like to suggest hunted horror in place of BS. Not too many, because you don't want to see HH without Thing.
It's note worthy that both 0/4 thing and skites wall off the 3/3 tokens. And of course when TITI flips, the tokens are gone. it's a tight "horror" theme package, but I think it has a tonne of potential.

I'm not a fan of hunted horror because the 3/3's are otherwise hard remove if they remove the Hunted horror. Their pro-black ability protects them from terminate and K-Command and gives our opponent about a 3 turn clock if we don't have a way to deal with them. Plus, if I flip a TitI, I'm already ahead on board, and the HH just seems like win more. At least batterskull is great on its own and can just be moved over for 4 mana should the token get bounced. An 11/12 Vigilant Lifelinking Horror is nothing to sneeze at.

The tokens can be blocked by TITI and skite. They can be bolted. The only removal they blank is terminate. Kommand is not worth mention because its 2 damage anyway. If they wanted to remove something it would be the TITI, not the HH because if you flip TITI the tokens go. You can flip TITI in response to any removal spell, so the tokens will go anyway.
If you flip TITI, you'll always be ahead. The question is whether you're swinging for 7, or more. Bouncing the board doesn't end the game; you need to close it out. HH helps in that regard.
BS is awkward because its ultimately 5 mana at sorcery speed. Our deck wants to hold up mana while putting down huge threats, which is why Tas has been our staple for so long. HH has been this awesome card with the unfortunate downside. I just see it as finally having potential with TITI's almost-seemingly-intended synergy.
You mentioned HH is win more, then you talk about a 11/12 vigilance lifelinker being nothing to sneeze at. Come on man. Give my idea some credit will ya?

It's a good idea in theory but I don't see it working out that way very often, unless you run enough spellskites too. But at that point you need too many pieces at the right time for a combo that isn't even guaranteed a kill on the spot

OK, OK, you mock me, but I was watching somebody play it in another deck on a stream, and it's great card.
Slap it on one of their guys, and it's a defensive spell. Slap it on an Abbot, Snapcaster, or Pia and Kiran, and it's incredible value.
I think 2 is good.
When I played around with that card I was slapping it on Fleshbag Marauder. The new guy to slap it on is certainly dark dwellers.
