Martin Juza has taken a list EXACTLY like what I was talking about to 7-0 thus far at GP Copenhagen....looks like Combo elves may be a thing again...and with white
I always get it with Chord if I don't have a combo pieces ready. It do wonders in elf deck whatever version you have because we can produce an insane amount of mana. It also great in a Evolutionary Leap variant. Once Menagerie reveals a non-creature card, Evo leap can reset your library.
Any Thoughts?
I added a 1-of to my elves deck and I actually have liked it. It's tough finding room for ANY non-elves...but it is a good engine. I do think Chord decks and like you said ESPECIALLY Evolutionary Leap decks can take huge advantage of him (by constantly changing the top of the library).

For reference - here a is link to Mr. Juza's WG Vizier Elf Combo Deck. It's an interesting build in it doesn't deviate too much from earlier beatdown elf lists, only replacing four dorks with Devoted Druids and the addition of a single Vizier of Remedies.
I'm not a pro, but his list seems a bit undeveloped. Since he's playing white, I wonder if Mr.Juza tried including Mirror Entity? Or having a wincon other than Ezuri, Renegade Leader?

I agree. It looks a little early in the "tuning" of the deck. I'm a HUGE fan of Mirror Entity as well.
P.S. The CoCo eleves members have decided that this combo deck falls within their Primer/thread (despite our making a point to separate combo lists from the beatdown lists when I ran that Primer/thread). I assumed this may happen; and I'll try my best to recap any info that they relay in this thread as well.
Alright guys....I hadn't changed much in several months (kinda just felt like a bad time and nothing new); but I think this card may actually change things a little...
With dorks and Heritage Druid; we have a distinct ability to be able to win with "going infinite" as well as this and Shaman of the Pack. We could win and not attack once! This is the kind of crazy stuff I love Got my brewing juices flowing again...so I will post what I brew and how it goes!
Am Elves List at GP Copenhagen actually played two copies of this and did pretty well.
I've been brewing a little with a litany of cards for Elves Combo. It's gonna take some time to tune: but we certainly have some interesting cards to try out in the last few sets.
Since he's playing white, I wonder if Mr.Juza tried including Mirror Entity? Or having a wincon other than Ezuri, Renegade Leader?
Ezuri, Renegade Leader is quite a bit better than Mirror Entity in this particular deck because A) the trample might matter, and B) 2 copies of Devoted Druid go infinite with Ezuri, no Vizier of Remedies required. That said 4 Ezuris seems a bit awkward with the legend rule so I can potentially seeing a 3-1 split between Ezuri and Mirror Entity as being good.
I have a 1 ezuri 1 mirror split in my deck.. cause sometimes you can chord for 3cmc but don't have enough mana for ezuri's overrun.. i.e. 4 mana.. I want to have an option of mirror in that case. 4 4/4 with no blocker sometimes is enough.

I think you rather want Duskwatch Recruiter because with Recruiter there is no need for any other spell to change the top of your library, once you have infinite mana you can just draw all your creatures and win from there
Favourite Deck: Elves (Modern & Legacy)
Standard: New Perspectives Combo
Modern: GW Hatebears | Death and Taxes | Eldrazi and Taxes | Abzan Liege | Abzan Company
Commander: The Gitrog Monster (Combo) | Noyan Dar, Roil Shaper (Control) | RIP Leovold Sultai (Elvestorm, no unfair locks) | Mono G (Yisan or Titania)
Tiny Leaders: Too many decks to keep track of
Pauper: RIP UR Drake | Mono B | GBx Goodstuff | Jund "Melira"
I Agree with Vormi that Duskwatch Recruiter is the perfect card to draw out the deck.
I've been playing a Cloudstone Curio deck with Shaman of the Pack, Vizier of the Menagerie, and the tried and true infinite Elves (Heritage Druid, Nettle Sentinel, Elvish Visionary, etc) and I'm loving it. It is fast; but you draw so many cards that it becomes extremely resilient too. Chord allows you to get the pieces needed for the combo (as does a 1-of Trophy Mage)....With Vizier turning Shaman of the pack essentially into a mono-green card; I can finally "go infinite" without the need of
I'll post the tuned list this week (I play Green Devotion too; so it takes me time to get a good volume of testing in for both)...but thus far I'm very happy with it.
It's cool that there's a nod to the concept, but that article was pretty low effort. It doesn't appear to bring anything new to the table - no playtesting, no videos, just rough theorycrafting around a known (but obscure) build. Also, there's some notable omissions of important synergystic cards - notably no Forbidden Orchard).
I wish I had time to prioritize testing some newer approaches to intruder alarm elves, there's a lot to explore! I just discovered Scryb Ranger and haven't put much time into testing Duskwatch Recruiter either yet. That said, with Death's Shadow being the king of the hill, it's really hard to take this build too seriously if it's too dependent on actually landing an Intruder Alarm when they pack 6-8 one mana discard spells.

Just a friendly reminder that some of us are patiently waiting to see your new list
Funny enough, despite holding the torch out for Intruder elves, I've pretty much switched to GW Curio Elves. I've been having a lot more success with it. But then I see there was a recent result with Intruder Elves, and Connely Woods has been honing a (non-elf) Intruder Alarm brew that is a hoot! I've watched him stream a few games and it seems a bit more consistent than my efforts to leverage the elf horde. So many angles to brew, so little time.

WOot! Ross Merriam has top 4'd (and still going!) with an elf build in the SCG Open today (Aug 13). It's pretty light on combo, in that there's only only one Vizier, but in the the quarter finals he destroyed Robots on turn 3 with infinite mana and turn 4 using Ezuri Pump + Devoted Druid.
Edit: Ross ended up third in the modern open, losing against Grixis Death Shadow in the semis. An interesting point to note is that he played without Horizon Canopy, which he couldn't acquire in time for the tournament (and wasn't willing to drop ~$100/each on!). Given his success, it makes one wonder how important Horizon Canopy is - did he do well in the tournament because he didn't have it or did he ultimately lose in the semis because a well timed Horizon Canopy would've given him the out he needed ?
Hmmm.. interesting. Finally a new toy that might find a place in at least one variant of combo elves - Growing Rites of Itlimoc
It's a safer, less broken Gaea's Cradle. I can't see it having much of a place anywhere except perhaps a Cloudstone Curio build that includes other enchantments like Oath of Nissa and Abundant Growth, but I'm still just starting to mull this card over. What do you, my fellow combo-elf-players think?

I just got on here to post about that too! Seems like a perfect fit.... maybe more so in Curio combo elves then in the regular version.
The main Coco elves for him decided that the Vizier Combo can be discussed there... so I kind of went back-and-forth trying to decide which combos to discuss here. I decided that every elf combo deck should be open to discussion on this Primer! I've always played Curiodwxks, but Devoted Druid Combo (with Ezuri), Vizier Combo...all of them are open here. If you "go infinite" with Elves...we want you!
Having said that, I am going to need help updating the Primer. I just noticed I didn't upload my list (I must have just. It hit Submit) but I will re-write my whole blurb and get it back up.
I was hoping that Spiphster take on the role of "Co-Op" and "Co-Creator as he is so great at keeping things updated and discussion going here.
After running the curio/evolutionary leap version for a while, last weekend i decided to give a try to the coco "aggro" version. it went pretty bad. I did not enjoyed playing the deck and it always felt too linear, too easy to be disrupted and too weak to sweepers.
so I'm back on the combo train.
talking with another elves player at the pptq, he told me he had quite a bit of success running 2 throne of the god-pharaoh
At the moment I run 3 curios and 4 evolutionary leap, I'm thinking of trying out how it goes with 4 curios and 2 thrones.
thoughts?
as for the new "cradle" can't wait to try it! i'll probably take out 1 visionary and 1 land for it

That new land is good. Its not overpowering. Should be a 1 or 2 of. A nice tool to have. I saw some using a split card research with yeva. Yeva adds a ton of resiliency. I was looking at coco elves but this curio build has me even more excited.
I was simulating draws and card choices trying to determine if curio or intruder was better. Still not sure. Curio offers more resiliency while intruder offers explosive power and consistency. I think woo came up with an intruder deck that featured forbidden orchard as a powerhouse land. Sorry no tags, on my phone. Its known that heritage druid is the key to an explosive start. I was wondering if anyone had some insight in kiora's follower. Could it add consistency? You could drop him on turn 2 and still have a mana open... AND go infinite with both intruder and Beck the following turn. Assuming you have a 1 drop in hand. Additionally edge of autumn could provide that bit of extra gas needed. any thoughts on these 2 cards?
definitely loving the throne of the god-pharaoh. the other day I had curio, dwynen's elite and heritage druid, made infinte elves but didn't have a way to win on the spot. luckily i had throne on the field, and with that I dealt infinite damage at the end of the turn.

I'm not sure curio is an aggro card. But if you use etb guys like reclamation, dwynen's,etc. u can ride that value train with yeva maybe even safe haven. You can protect yourself from removal really well. Let me flash in a dwynen's elite to save my heritage druid and eternal witness
This is pretty much the starting point. The deck can't really tutor for Intruder Alarm, so I figured the more efficient thing to do was go for scry. I mean you can make a deck that pops on turn 3 if you have both intruder alarm and beck in hand.
Another potential 2 turn play is Nissa, Steward of Elements. +1 Scry 2 if you don't have Intruder or Beck(you'll probably have 1 of them already). 0 ability if you do.
Yet another turn 2 play is Imperious Perfect. I mean hey, I get it, he has summoning sickness, but he makes infinite elves with intruder alarm and a dork.
Still, everything relies on Intruder Alarm and Beck. Still don't have the wincon, aside from maybe Imperious summoning sickness, but I was hoping Shaman of the Pack could get it done alongside Raven's Crime. Moreover, green has tons of ways to eat 1/1 flyers, not limited to Essence Warden buying us a turn or 2.
I was wondering if Explore might be a good option here. It cantrips a draw and can be used to play Forbidden Orchard mid-combo.
Something like this:
Turn 1: forest, dork
Turn 2: dual, Voyaging Satyr. dual land open
Turn 3: 3 land
tap dork, Satyr, to retap 1 land: Intruder Alarm
2 lands open: dork --> beck and you have 1 untapped land, an untapped dork, and an untapped satyr for 3 usable mana.
that's 8 cards. Of course its a perfect hand with little interaction, but you can see how just having an Intruder Alarm on board with even just 1 dork, can "churn" through a hand.
Suffice to say: Infinite Life, Draw, and Mana of any color with
Maybe you guys can help me on this, I'd like to use Shaman of the Pack as the wincon
I have come the conclusion of running the 20 1 drop elves, dorks, arbor, essence and heritage with 3 curio and 3 intruder. And letting Genesis wave do it's thing with shaman. Probably throw in spell Pierce and visionary and Beck, opt if I can fit it. 3 dorks out by end of turn 2 with a blue Mana to spare, maybe even Nissa.
There are multiple ways of going off on turn 3 here. And you don't have to tap out on turn 2 or 3 to do so.
Having a single dork in play and casting intruder alarm allows you to play heritage and essence with just that dork. If the dork is arbor elf and u have a dual land forest, or no arbor and 2 duals... It's not just infinite tokens with summoning sickness, It's game over. More lines of play. You just need intruder heritage Beck and a hand with dorks. Turning every elf you play into dark ritual, or even 2 dark ritual is no joke. Moreover oona's grace and Genesis wave can be your sinks with or without curio. Don't dismiss/sleep on this. This deck has answers to pyroclasm and has so many lines of play to get there. Spell pierce is no joke on insuring you get to see turn 4 even 5, let alone 3.
What about thought courier. I was planning on oona's. But this is dope for sifting through to keep up the gas if I don't like the land I just drew and it's a nice 2 drop with a Mana still open leading into a turn 3 intruder. Also came across presence of Gond and elvish harbinger. How far am I going into the rabbit hole here? Curio wants etb. Intruder wants tap. elvish branchbender is kind of funny here. Pump up the jam and give that thing(s) trample. Anyways there's a lot of good 2 drops with tap abilities.
I added a 1-of to my elves deck and I actually have liked it. It's tough finding room for ANY non-elves...but it is a good engine. I do think Chord decks and like you said ESPECIALLY Evolutionary Leap decks can take huge advantage of him (by constantly changing the top of the library).
